Phone Calls
My younger sister called me today:
Joyce: Hey Peachy, how are you doing?
Me: I'm ok.
J: Don't worry, Daddy told me there were no coyotes howling the night Jemma got lost.
Me: Thanks. That's good to know.
Me thinking: What is wrong with my sister? A person would always feel much better knowing no coyotes were in the area. Cheese and rice.
J: He also said that Pepper (my grandfather's dog that Jemma was fighting earlier in the vacation period) ran away with a pack of stray dogs, and came back a few days later.
Me: Well, Jemma can't hang with the stray dogs.
J: Yes she can, she's a street thug.
Me: Well, we'll see.
J: Ok. Talk to you later. Stop by Mommie's later if you can. I'm here.
Me: I don't think I'll make it. See you later.
J: Bye.
Me: Bye Joyce.
Very reassuring, huh?
Then my brother calls:
Lee: Hey Peachy, what do you want for Christmas?
Me: Well, my dog would be nice, but why don't you get me two belts. One black, one brown.
L: Do you want any cd's?
Me: Nah, I don't listen to them. You?
L: I need cash to get my car out of the shop or some cd's. Bun-B (I have no idea. or some other random person I don't know).
Me: Ok. See you in a week or so. Talk to you then.
L: Ok Bye.
He doesn't even know or care that my dog is gone.
Then I called my grandmother:
Me: Hi Mom-mom!
M: Hi, what's going on? Oops. That's what I say. Maybe she said how you? hee hee.
Me: I'm ok. Just called to see what you wanted for Christmas, and check in on you.
M: My eyes are still bad, and you need to come visit (other stuff that's not necessary for the story).
Me: Ok. Well, I'll try to stop up sometime. I have a couple days off after Christmas.
M: Did you find your dog?
Me: I start crying-No, she's gone.
M: Well, I didn't want to ask. She'll be ok.
Me thinking: Then why did you? But, it's my Mom-mom and she can ask because she cares.
Me: Thanks Mom-mom. Love you. Talk to you later.
M: Ok. Love you too. Bye.
I'm really, really sad. Anytime someone mentions her, I just start crying. All I really want for Christmas is someone knocking at my door or my phone ringing with news that they have her.
