It's 80 degrees today, so of course, I had to plan a nice ride for myself.
First I went to church. No riding-skirt wearing time. Oh, here's a funny. My skirt looks like a salsa skirt. It's short, black and flings out when I go down the stairs, and it has this lacy stuff that goes just under the main skirt. I put it on, and then realized that I didn't have my slip on. Yes, when I wear a skirt, I always wear a slip. It's ingrained. So, I get to church, stand the whole time (I'm an usher), and then sit down for the sermon. I notice the lacy part isn't near the bottom of the skirt, but my slip is (it's lacy too!). I left church and realized something was bunching up at my butt. UGH!! It was the lacy part all bunched up. I bet my butt looked huge, as I lead the parade of 30 young men from Detroit (guest choir) around for offering. I hope they enjoyed the show.
I rode to the SPCA March for the Animals to give my charitable contribution. The dogs were adorable. I got front row parking too because I was riding. That's one great thing about being on a motorcycle. Parking is always cake. Of course, I can't stay long because I get too emotional (I think I need counseling). Then I went riding through the city.
One of our contests for Motor Maids is to take pictures of our bike in front of stone churches. I passed about 5 in the city, but didn't have my camera handy. Plus, I was on my way to this jewelry show to pick up some cheap, fun watches for my mother. I get to a stop light, and a guy on a Suzuki crotch rocket pulls up next to me. His lane cuts off pretty much at the other side of the intersection. He asks me what kind of bike I have, and I ask if he's going to race in front of me to get in my lane. He says "I'm not going to race." I said 'Oh, go ahead. It'll be fun. If you're going faster than 10mph, you'll beat me.' The light turns, we say goodbye and he races off. What a showoff. hee hee.
I pass a few more churches and park near Camden Yards. It's game day, and everyone is sporting their orange and black. I feel cool because my bike is orange. I park in this curb colored spot near a fire hydrant, but it's permit parking for #8 permit people, no parking for everyone else. I HOPE that I'm ok even though I don't have that permit. I go to the show, get the watches, and I'm out in about 20 minutes. As I'm walking back to my spot (remember, I'm wearing a long sleeved tshirt, chaps, jeans and carrying my coat), I see a tow truck driving down the road that my bike is on. I hear a fan say 'That's the second time he's passed.' I don't know who he's talking about, but I swear it's the tow truck. I start walking REALLY fast, and I feel like I'm going to faint. I see him pass my bike, and breathe a huge sigh of relief. If I had gotten towed, I would've been really mad. Disaster averted.
I get back on the bike, and I go to Ryan's house. Nothing exciting except Mike, his roommate, sees me standing outside the house and he thought 'Who is this bandannad bag lady standing near our house. Oh, it's Peachy.' What a tool. HA!!HA!! I watch the rest of the game at their house, and then mosey on home.
I ride back into the city because I don't want to stop for the 2.00 toll when it's nice outside, and another car with a family is in the lane next to me. I hear the girl in the car yell out 'HA!!HA!! She has a cupholder!!' I told her that it gets really hot, and it's nice to have a drink at a stop light. Her dad asks about my bike, and how fast it goes, etc.. and then lets me race in front of him because my lane is ending after the light. I think I made that family's day. They were all smiles.
I get onto the main road and there's a pack of about 40 boys on dirt bikes going the opposite direction. They are doing wheelies, and racing in between cars like its their job. They give people on motorcycles bad names because none of them had helmets (they probably don't even have driver's licenses), and they were seriously taking over the road. It was a bad scene, and I know sooner or later one of them is going to get hit and smashed. Oh well. I'm not their parents. If they were next to me at a stoplight, I might have said something.
The rest of the ride was pretty uneventful, just freaking hot. I should've taken the highway so I would've been a bit cooler, but because I'm cheap, I suffer through the heat on days like today. Another great day of riding is under my belt. *huge smiley face* Can't wait for Tuesday. 76 degrees. Oh, and next time I'm going to take my camera. I don't think it's such a good idea to be riding on the sidewalks for pictures in front of churches on Sunday. God may get mad.
