I'm Going Away Again

My sister called me on Wednesday afternoon and asked if I wanted to go to TN with her Thursday night. I don't have any plans, so I said sure. Of course, she wasn't ready to go last night, so we're leaving this afternoon around 3.

I called my grandpa to tell him that we'll be there early Saturday morning. He lives on the west side of the state, and it's a 14 hour drive. I asked him if he needed anything and he said 'No. I'm ok.' I volunteered to bring some steamed crabs. He said 'Oh, that would be great. I haven't had those in ages.' Then I laughed and said "Grandpa Freddie, they are going to stink up the car. There's no way we could transport them." I'm such a brat. Why volunteer and then say you can't do it. I hated myself for a split second. hee hee. But, he laughed and said they were fine.

So..I'm getting ready to go. I might see my bird dog down there, and I will freak out if I do, but I'll definitely be on the lookout as we're driving across the state.

I'll be home Tuesday sometime. I hope it's in the early evening, because I want to watch the fireworks. I hope everyone has a safe 4th.

Lots to Do plus Pictures

It's been raining here non-stop and finally today it's sunny and nice. Unfortunately, and fortunately, I'm devoting my entire day to catching up with all of you, and commenting and all that jazz. I seriously missed you guys.

For those that know Grace, she had her baby, Mia, and she's doing well. I don't have her email, so Grace and Steve, congratulations!!! This will have to do. If anyone talks to her, tell her I said that. hee hee. LE, I'm talking to you.

It's catch up time.

UPDATE-Here is the link to the pictures from the Rendezvous. It's just a brief sampling. Definitely not safe for work.CLICK HERE

I'm Home!!

I just got back after riding through hours and hours of torrential downpours. I'm usually not one to complain about the rain, but a few times there I couldn't even see. I was just watching my white line to the right. Phew!

I'm going to download the pictures. Tons and tons of tits, that's for sure, and a couple funny pictures of me with the naked ladies. Gotta love a clothed Peachy with two topless chicks. It was a fun time, as usual, and it was cool catching up with those I met last year.

I donated some money to Donors Choose, and organization that Peeved Michelle found and asked the peevers and guests to donate. I think I donated like 125 dollars or so, and I just received a package from the students which includes a letter and pictures. How nice. I can't wait to look at all the stuff I got.

I have an interview tomorrow. If I get the job, I'll be working with one of my old coworkers. I could go either way with the job, but we'll see. OK..I'm showering and napping. I'll have more tomorrow or later tonight depending on how I feel.

I'm Hot AND Bothered

I had a super busy day today. I watched People's court, packed some stuff for my trip (I'm obviously leaving tomorrow morning since it's 11:20, and I'm not on the road). At 11, I had to be at my mom's house to take her to my Mom-mom's place. She's leaving for the Bahamas with her 5 bestest girlfriends that she's known for over 40 years (can you imagine?). They are going to have so much fun. I told my mom that she should bring up stuff that she hated each of them for, and by the end of the trip leave with no friends. I'm mean. She decided that she didn't like my plan.

We went to Stacky's to get hoagies when we got to Mom-mom's house. Mom-Mom lives in the ghetto. It's official. I'm even nervous when I go there, but that's because I'm a white, suburban girl with a black body and face. hee hee. Anyway, for some reason, the guys that work in Stacky's always try to talk to me. I am always pleasant and leave with a smile on my face. On the trip up there my mom told me that my brother thinks that girls with kids are more mature. Basically, he's saying his three older sisters are immature. Real nice, Bro. So, when I was at Stacky's I was thinking of saying 'Sorry. I don't have kids, and I'm super immature.' I told Mom-mom that I should have said that and Mom-mom said 'WHAT?! The guys at Stacky's always like you. Did they give you trouble this time around?' I started laughing and said 'Nope. I still got it. They still like me. I was just thinking of something smart to say.' I am so conceited. They need to give me a discount already. It's not often that an immature, skinny girl comes walking through those doors. :)

After I dropped Mommie off, and hung out with Mom-mom for a bit, I headed home. I planned to catch the Netherlands/Argentina game. I got to Ryan's house around the 52nd minute, so I still got to watch the second half. I asked him about the Mavs/Heat game, and he watched it, of course. I told him that Dwyane Wade was my new favorite. Ryan said "I thought you liked LeBron." I said 'Not after last night.' He laughed. Boys always say that the star players are going to get laid after they make the winning touchdown or goal or whatever. I totally agree. If I was that sports girl, I'd be sleeping with e'ryone. How awesome do those guys feel after winning the championship. Mmm..mmm..I get so excited at the end of the game, when the star player is on the screen. Even if they're not that cute, I get excited. I think I'm coming of age. Either that, or I should have made a Tuesday night appointment. HA!!HA!!

One more thing. Gabby put in her notice today at my old job. Her last day is the day the guy with the bad resume starts. I wrote about his resume around early May I believe. He's a loser. Our CFO/head of HR guy said to Big Nan 'I guess your group is down to 0.' He's snide. Nancy probably wanted to punch him, but when Gabby told me that I laughed. Karma is a be-yotch. Big Nan tried to throw Gabby some money. She said 'Honestly, you couldn't pay me enough to stay.' Gotta love the Gab.

I hope the trip tomorrow is exciting or I'll be dozing off on the road, and that's not cool. I guess I'm hitting the hay.

Salvage Yard Appreciation Day

This morning I was whining with YoJ/Betty/Berk on gmail about how my bike was broken and I have a planned trip to NY for the Harley Rendezvous (that's the naked biker party for those that weren't reading last June). Well, here's the harrowing tale.

I don't know if I told you guys, but I had troubles with my bike on the way home from Sturgis last summer. My bike kept cutting out as if it was out of gas. I eventually got to the east side of SD, where I switched to reserve (the extra fuel tank area), and had been riding on reserve ever since.

Well, everything was roses until Saturday. I rode up to PA and went on a tour of 6 beautiful covered bridges. I was taking Rt. 40 home, and my bike started cutting out again about 15 miles from my house. Luckily, a nice man in a truck realized I was having trouble going the speed limit, so he drove behind me until he had to turn off. My bike was backfiring and the walkers thought sure gunshots were going off. I'm serious. The people on the side of the road were frightened. It took me about 45 minutes to go 10 miles. Talk about a nightmare.

I went to the salvage yard on Monday, and the guy sold me a new petcock gasket thingy for a dollar. [The petcock is the part of the bike where you have fuel, the fuel filter, and reserve. It's a switch assembly type thing with a hilarious name.] I took it home, replaced the one I had and my bike was running worse. I couldn't even use reserve without it cutting out.

Today I limped my bike back to the salvage yard, and we took apart the entire carburetor. Apparently, the diaphram was swollen a bit, and it wasn't letting the gas run through it properly. It's supposed to move back and forth with ease. He isn't sure if it's the ethanol that caused the problem or not, but for 25 bucks, we replaced the diaphragm, and now I'm back in business. Hopefully the ethanol around here won't ruin this one too, but at least I know where the problem lies.

I think I need a tshirt that says 'Support Your Local Salvage Yard!' I don't know how many of you know, but a lot of times the 1% motorcycle clubs sell tshirts saying 'Support your Local Pagans, or Hells Angels or Outlaws' etc.. If you know, then that tshirt would be funny.

A new carb. diaphragm would've run me 125 dollars + a 7 day wait at the local Suzuki shop. You should've seen the smile on my face when I was riding home. YE-FREAKIN'-HA!

I'm leaving either Wednesday night or Thursday morning, and I'll be back on Tuesday to report on the nakedness that occurs. Hope everyone's well.

Bragging Rights and Apple Pie

Where has the time gone? It's already Friday, and I'm already looking forward to Monday . HA!!HA!! Oops. Sorry workers.

Does anyone know the story of Henry David Thoreau? You know how he lived in the woods by himself for years or months? I loved his story when I learned about him in 11th grade English. I can't read 'Walden' because it put me to sleep, but I think I could be alone for a long period of time and be ok with it. That's what I've been doing since I got laid off (more or less), but I absolutely love it. I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. I love being on my motorcycle, but I also love sitting in my house alone. I wish I could put it into words, but I can't. I can take my shower when I want to, go to sleep watching People's court, play spider solitaire and talk on the phone at the same time, peek in my neighbor's windows (ha ha). There are no rules in my house, and I LOVE IT!

Enough bragging. I went to lunch today with YB. What a wonderful guy. He treated me even after I told him about the joys of being such a scrooge all my life. I'm so happy I don't have to worry about getting another job, and I don't have to rely on some stupid sugardaddy. This is the life. Girls, I'm telling you, PUT SOME MONEY ASIDE. YB had a cheeseburger sub, and I had a French Dip sandwich. I'm on a meat kick. I ate two prime ribs and a taco last night, and then French Dip today. I love me some meat! Of course, tonight I'm eating apple pie and Michelob for dinner, but it's cool. I'm getting all of my food groups. I even took my calcium pill today. I think I'm ok. YB is so happy and relaxed at his new job. Not relaxed like we used to be, but so comfortable. Both of us decided that we picked up some serious bad work habits at our old job. That thought made us laugh. We seriously chilled at our old place. Imagine, 3 years of chilling and getting paid for it. YB was there longer than I was. The million dollar question at lunch was 'do I want a spark or a safety net?' I choose not to answer.

I watched a bit of soccer this morning. The Argentinian team played so well. They beat Serbia-Montenegra (or something like that) 6-0. Unbelievable. I think my future husband lives in Argentina. hee hee. This afternoon I watched Angola and Mexico battle it out. The score ended with a 0-0 tie.

That's it for this Friday's episode. See you sometime next week when Peachy decides...TO GO TO THE LIBRARY AND FIND SOME VOLUNTEER WORK. hee hee. Stay tuned.

Yesterday's Funny-Potty Humor

I actually do have one more thing to share. I forgot about this story.

I went to see Mom-mom to get the title transfer and power of attorney taken care of (again!). I got to her house and I had to go pee. Not a big deal. After Chick-Fil-A lemonade and a two hour drive, it happens. Mom-mom said 'My toilet isn't flushing, so if you go pee, pour some water into the toilet and it'll flush itself.' I said 'Well, I don't really have to go. I'll go at the lawyer's office.' She insisted I go pee, and I insisted that I didn't REALLY have to go, I was just GOING to go. Off we went to see the lawyer.

I forgot I had to go pee until we got back to her house. I hate peeing in public bathrooms anyway, so it was fine. I said 'Oh yeah..I forgot to go pee. I'll just go fix your toilet.' Then she said 'Don't forget to pour some water in the bowl.' Then I said 'Well...um...what if I have to go number 2?' She cracked up laughing and said 'That's a whole 'nother story then. I don't know what you're going to do.' and she kept laughing. Then I started laughing and said 'I'M JUST KIDDING!' Her toilet was fine. Poor Mom-mom, pouring water down the toilet all the time when the toilet is fixed already.

I'm telling you, I love hanging out with my grandmother. She and I have the best times together, even if some of them are short lived. I lived with her for my last year in college, and it ruled. I think that's why we have a closer bond than my sisters, cousins and brother.

Oh, also in the lawyer's office we were talking about her burial plot, and how she is going to be buried on top of Pop-pop. I mentioned that she should just be cremated and call it a day. She said 'I already paid for that plot, and my ashes certainly aren't going to fill it up, so I'll just be buried. I don't want to be burned anyway.' Right when she said that the lawyer walked in and was like 'what?' We started laughing and I said 'Oh, we were just talking about her burial plot and cremation.' He said 'oh' but he was probably thinking 'What could possibly be funny about that?' He just doesn't understand how we roll. Poor lawyer guy. hee hee.

World Cup Fanatic

When I was in high school, I had an Italian boyfriend who played soccer and LOVED soccer. I probably went to one of his games all through school. It just wasn't my deal. I believe he liked AC Milan, but with all those different Italian soccer teams I can't really remember 15 years later (ugh, has it really been that long?).

Now that I have no job, I'm ALL about watching the games live. I'm all about it. This morning for example, I woke up, watched Adoption Stories, played spider solitaire for a bit, and then at 8:55, I was plunked down on the couch watching Spain beat the Ukraine. The score was 4-0. What is wrong with me? I would never think to sit and watch 3 soccer games basically in a row. But, I have to say, it has really been fun to watch. I think I like it because the players are good. High school players suck. Those men are SO good with their feet, and have such control of the ball, it's ridiculous. I can't even imagine. Some of them are pretty good looking too. I understand what it's like being old and liking people that are young. They mention that one guy is say 23, and I'm like 'oops. That's a little young for me, but he can slide tackle me anyday! I wouldn't even give him a yellow card.' hee hee.

Unfortunately, the US plays Italy on Saturday afternoon, and I have a scheduled ride to go on, so I'll miss the match, but someone I know has Tivo. *wink wink* so I'll catch the highlights.

What else can I share...that's basically my life. Payday's tomorrow, and I get my last check. Woohoo! Hope everyone's doing well. I'm trying to check in with everyone, but it's taking me a bit. It's too nice to be sitting at the computer (I mean, watching soccer). HA!!HA!!

Monday, June 12, 2006

Hello Hello!

As you have probably noticed, I'm busier hanging out at home than I was at work. I had all the time in the world to read blogs, check blogs, post blogs when I was getting paid. hee hee. But..I'm stopping in temporarily to say hey and update you on my life.

Ryan had a World Cup soccer party all weekend. I hung out Friday day, but didn't get to attend any of the evening festivities. I really wanted to go to karaoke on Saturday (what is wrong with me?), but I didn't. Oh well. Maybe next weekend will be a good day for me to belt out some tunes. I am going over there today for the USA/Czech game at noon. Can't wait!

I went to church yesterday and finally joined. The members there were not constantly hounding me, but they liked me and wanted to join. I figured yesterday would be a good day. They gave me the right hand (hug rather) of fellowship, and now I'm a full fledged member. I have been going since February, and I really like my church. I think I only missed 3 services (I missed becuase I was away for motorcycle vacations). Not bad, huh? More on this in a minute.

I went to a Pilates class last Wednesday, and my shoulders were sore for like three days. We had to put a medicine ball over our heads while lying on our back. I didn't think it was hard, but I guess my shoulders are out of shape, because I could hardly move my arms the rest of the week.

I called last week about volunteering for an adult literacy program, and they have orientation sessions in August and September. It's too bad that it's so far away, but I'm going to sign up. I can give back by volunteering some of my time, and I think I'm a good teacher/reader. hee hee. So...on that note, when I was in Sunday School yesterday, one of the deacons came up to me and said 'you really are a good reader. You sound like a teacher. I wish someone would help me read better.' He misses a lot of words, or doesn't know how to sound them out. I told him that if he wanted help, I would be willing to help him. Next week I'll get his number, and maybe we can do some reading work. That would be a good start for me in the meantime. Funny how things work out (or in church speak, the lord works in mysterious ways...HA!).

As far as work goes, I've been contacted by several headhunters/recruiters, and a couple people I know are looking for people, so I think I'm ok on that end. The unemployment people are supposed to call me today to discuss my situation. I wrote on the form that I got discharged, terminated, fired. The HR lady might have said I got laid off. I'm not sure what's going on, but they're calling me at 10:30. For now, the plan is for me to stay out of work until Mid July. There is a Motor Maid convention in Canada in the middle of the week, and I want to take the whole week off so no sense starting work before then, and then taking off, so I hope I can finagle that deal.

That's it for me. Long and sweet. Hope everyone is doin well. I miss you guys, big time.

Old Person Magnet

I'm alive.
Not much has been going on. I'm still enjoying my time off, and trying to take advantage of the nice weather as well. It's been in the mid to upper 70s and sunny all week.

I don't really have much to talk about since I've been living the life of leisure. I actually requested my first unemployment check, and it should be in the mail sometime. You have to apply to two jobs a week to show that you're trying to get a job, so I've done that with no problems.

One recruiter sent me a blurb about a position in Bmore that I was qualified for. I emailed him asking what company it was, and he said 'The company wishes to remain confidential.' What kind of company would do that? MY OLD COMPANY!! One of the ladies in my moto. group also works for that recruiting company and she told me that she told him to contact me, and little did she know it was for my company. HA!!HA!! That's what is so crazy about that place. Have you ever heard of a company not telling the person to be interviewed what company might be interested in them? Absurd. No wonder we couldn't get any qualified candidates to come through and interview. It makes me laugh.

I did go to a water aerobics class yesterday. Ugh! It was so hard. It wouldn't seem like it's hard walking around in the water and moving your arms up and down, but it was. The class was at 9, so there were old people in the class. it's so funny swimming around with older people. I'm going to go back next week I think though because it was fun, and it was a good workout.

The rain gutters on my house are falling down, so I talked to one of my moto. friends and he brought me some new screws to replace the nails that were up there. He put in a couple of the screws, and I'll put in the rest probably tomorrow. Fun fun. I'm keeping busy, and I'm so happy not thinking about work.

Time for me to call Ryan and see what he's up to tonight. Not sure if we will be watching movies. I already watched the ones I was supposed to take over there: Boondock Saints and Transamerica. They were both ok. I'm going to forget that I saw them most likely.

Finally, I can type

I had trouble all morning trying to post about my weekend activities.

The Ride Across Maryland was on Saturday. It rained almost the entire way there. That wasn't any fun, but what can you do? The rain stopped around 7pm on Saturday night-just in time for the entertainment and awards ceremony for those that raised the most money, blah blah. All in all, the group raised $225,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation. I'm not sure how many people were there, but that is a lot of money. My 100 dollar contribution fits in there somewhere. Last year we raised 175,000 dollars. I don't mind giving to charity, but in the back of my mind, I sometimes think it's a big scame. 400,000 dollars in two years from a bunch of crazy bikers in MD, and they can't find a cure? That doesn't include any of the money that is donated by rich people, it doesn't include all the races that go on, and it just seems like a lot of money, and not enough progress for my tastes. I wish I wasn't such a cynic.

Sunday's ride home was pretty uneventful. The weather was nice, and I made it back safely.

When I got home, my unemployment papers were in the mail. Yay, considering I make more than 20,000 dollars a year, I get the maximum allotment. I believe it's 340 a week. Enough to get by considering I'm not spending gas driving to work or eating out for lunch.

I can understand how people on unemployment stay on it. A headhunter emailed me, and I'm like 'eh..I'll call when I get a chance.' Thank goodness I have my little emergency money or else I probably would be freaking out. I'm honestly just chillin'. I'm pathetic, and I'll probably be paying the piper next month. hee hee.

I also received an energy savings kit from the gas/electric company. Today's project was to install new aerator nozzles in the bathroom and kitchen. They sent a new showerhead which I replaced, and I put these draft blockers in 8 outlets and replaced my main dining room light with a fluorescent light bulb. See..I'm saving money while not spending money. Unemployment rules.

No Case

So that took about 2 hours of my day.

I knew that MD was a "right to hire, right to fire" state, but I thought that maybe they needed a specific reason to do so. Apparently not. If you live in Maryland, they can fire you because they don't like the color of your shirt.

So, so much for that. At least no one charged me to make an appointment and go in for consultation.

In the meantime, I applied for a couple jobs online. We'll see where that gets me. Plus, for unemployment, you have to apply to at least two jobs a week and have documentation, so I already have that covered for the week.

Alright, I'm off to spend some hard earned gas money. Seeya.

Just Another Friday

I'm contacting a lawyer today. It may be futile, but it will give me something to do in the meantime.

I called the HR lady yesterday to find out exactly why I was fired/terminated. She went to my file and told me that "a hostile environment was being created in my building/area because of me." I told her that I don't even talk to Cheater Girl, and there are two other people that I ignore in my bldg, and everyone else I get along with. Then she said "I didn't want to bring this up but Big Nan was not pleased with your performance." I said "Have you looked at my last performance review?" There is nothing stated on it that says I wasn't doing my work, or she was unhappy with what I had done, etc.." The HR lady didn't know what to say. She also mentioned that there was an incident 4 months ago, but she didn't really know what that was about (that was when I yelled at the guy and left the room because he said 'if you don't want to follow the rules in my department, then leave' and I did). The HR lady doesn't know about that though, but Big Nan did. I went directly to her and told her what happenend that day, and why I was mad.

I also asked the HR lady that after 2.5 years if I was such a blemish on the company, how come it was never in my personnel file, and that next time something like this happened they should speak to both sides of the issue and talk to the bosses. No one asked anyone my side nor did they speak to anyone in the area when all this was going down. I was unlawfully fired. I don't know if that is a legal term, but I'll find out in a bit.

I also sent an email to Big Nan on Wednesday telling her that I was disappointed that she didn't defend me or even speak to me about the issue (it was a simple, explanatory email). I wished her the best, and told her where my work was. I did it in gmail so it would automatically save all conversations.

Well Big Nan said she was met at the car by the HR lady and told her that I was being fired that morning. She said the boss of Cheatergirl went to the Chief Financial Officer (who is the boss of HR (how that works, I have no idea)), and decided that I would be fired. The boss of CGirl never talked to Big Nan, and she wrote that she was surprised neither Gabby nor the consultant were asked about the situation. She also said 'This is a reason this place will never be successful. Good luck to you.' So..I have proof that no one was even notified. Screwy.

I'll keep you posted as to what happens today. I'm headed to Ocean City this weekend for the Ride Across Maryland. A day at the beach will do me just fine.

My company is always getting lawsuits against them, so I'll be fine with a settlement, but more importantly, I don't want my file to say that I was fired for some hostile environment BS. If the HR lady leaves, and someone calls my old company, it's going to look like I was the bad guy, and I wasn't. I need to get that cleared up at a minimum. I'll accept damages in monetary form if I have to. HA!!HA!!

It's 6:42 and I'm awake

So much for sleeping in on my first day off. Of course, it is Thursday morning, so you know what that means. :)

Maybe I am a slut. hee hee. I could've slept in all morning and just locked the door when I left, but I chose to get up early like I always do and go on home. *ahhh*

Today I will watch People's Court, contact the little boss, make a few other phone calls (I'm thinking about volunteering to teach adults how to read), and do some minor job searching. I think I can apply for unemployment also. I think I'll do some reading up on that to find out what my options are.

Today is YB's last day at my old workplace. I think he's taking a half day, so enjoy your last visit in the joint YB. That place will never be the same without us. I think 1/2 price burgers is definitely doomed with the remaining crew, and I'm glad I got my free lunch last week (I guess some things do work out for the best).

Have a great day everyone. Peace out.
