Finally, I can type

I had trouble all morning trying to post about my weekend activities.

The Ride Across Maryland was on Saturday. It rained almost the entire way there. That wasn't any fun, but what can you do? The rain stopped around 7pm on Saturday night-just in time for the entertainment and awards ceremony for those that raised the most money, blah blah. All in all, the group raised $225,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation. I'm not sure how many people were there, but that is a lot of money. My 100 dollar contribution fits in there somewhere. Last year we raised 175,000 dollars. I don't mind giving to charity, but in the back of my mind, I sometimes think it's a big scame. 400,000 dollars in two years from a bunch of crazy bikers in MD, and they can't find a cure? That doesn't include any of the money that is donated by rich people, it doesn't include all the races that go on, and it just seems like a lot of money, and not enough progress for my tastes. I wish I wasn't such a cynic.

Sunday's ride home was pretty uneventful. The weather was nice, and I made it back safely.

When I got home, my unemployment papers were in the mail. Yay, considering I make more than 20,000 dollars a year, I get the maximum allotment. I believe it's 340 a week. Enough to get by considering I'm not spending gas driving to work or eating out for lunch.

I can understand how people on unemployment stay on it. A headhunter emailed me, and I'm like 'eh..I'll call when I get a chance.' Thank goodness I have my little emergency money or else I probably would be freaking out. I'm honestly just chillin'. I'm pathetic, and I'll probably be paying the piper next month. hee hee.

I also received an energy savings kit from the gas/electric company. Today's project was to install new aerator nozzles in the bathroom and kitchen. They sent a new showerhead which I replaced, and I put these draft blockers in 8 outlets and replaced my main dining room light with a fluorescent light bulb. See..I'm saving money while not spending money. Unemployment rules.
