24-The Series

I have heard so much about this show that I just had to get Season 1 on Netflix. It's official. I am addicted to it. I keep putting movies in line ahead of the next series disk in order to give my eyes a break. If I have the series disk, I totally want to watch all 4 hours straight, no matter what time it is. Not having commercials is awesome too. I hope the next couple seasons are as good as the first one, because I'm hooked big time!

Friday, I went to see Dr. Strangelove at the Hippodrome. Ed and I sat in the really expensive, velvet seats. That was a lot of fun, but I didn't like the movie. It's directed by Stanley Kubrick (who is already a weirdo), and there were some funny parts, but I just wasn't into it. I think it's probably a cult film. People at the theater were reciting lines and stuff. hee hee. They had a Mr. Magoo cartoon as the preview, and that was pretty funny.

Attention to Detail

My coworker and I are going to Mcdonalds for lunch today, so I stopped in YB and Spacebrain's office to see if they wanted anything. YB wanted a hamburger and he gave me a one dollar bill. Well, this one dollar bill was the strangest one I had ever seen. On the right hand side it has a blue stamp (on a normal dollar it has a green stamp). The word 'one dollar' was written in several different places. On the top it said 'silver certificate' and on the left side, it had a number 1 with some writing on it. I said "Bob, where did you get this?" He had no idea. Spacebrain offered him 10 dollars for it, and YB said ok. hee hee. Now upon further inspection, I think he is keeping it, but he had no idea it was even in his wallet. It was minted in 1957, and it is in good condition. Not flimsy or worn at all.

If it wasn't for me, McDonalds would be getting a fancy dollar for the cost of one disgusting hamburger. Maybe now YB will be able to DEMAND one dollar's worth of silver when he goes to the treasury. I think that's so cool.

They say women have a better eye for details, and now I think I will agree with that statement.

Oh, maybe YB will take a picture of it and put it on his blog. He's the picture king. I'm just plain Jane.

Would This Person Be a Liar?

I'm not sure if this is just someone who is old, or perhaps senile, but I have a problem today with one of my coworkers specifically, and this type of person generally.

I needed my coworker to sign a document for me last week. I called him and he said "Ok. I'll be right over." Well, he never came over. I didn't really care that much whether he came over or not, and no one would really know that his signature was needed on the paper, but I like to be succint with my work and if this guy helped, he's supposed to sign off that he helped. Well, he came to my building today, and hasn't stopped by my desk to say 'hey, sorry I didn't get a chance to get by here earlier...' He just walked on past my desk as if I have never talked to him before in my life. In the meantime, my report is going to be filed tomorrow.

Another example is if someone says 'I'll call you Friday because I'm going to that concert and I really want you to come along.' Friday comes and goes, and the next time you see the person they don't even mention the concert or the fact that they never called and you really wanted to go (or at least decided you would go with them).

What is wrong with that type of person? Are they just talking to hear themself talk? Are they just saying something that they think I want to hear? I would rather the coworker say 'I'm super busy, and I can't stop by today. Would you mind calling me tomorrow or reminding me to sign the paper later?' I don't really want to hear that answer, but at least it's honest and I'm more willing to give him another chance, and actually be nice to him the next time I talk to him. On another note, I heard his girlfriend of many years just left him. I guess she couldn't take the lies. I don't blame her, but I feel a little bad because he seems nice enough, except for these lies about following through.

All my coworkers are wacky, and I seriously think I'm losing it. Slowly but surely, each day that passes I lose another brain cell that belongs in the patience category. I'm sure of it.

Showtime at the Hippodrome

I've been trying to get onto this screen for hours today.

Last night at the Hippodrome Theater they had the world premiere of the documentary movie on the Hippodrome Theater. I figured since it was a movie, I would dress down. Plus, I wasn't in the mood to get fancy and so I wore jeans and a sweater and my fancy boots (they're old, and they're only fancy because I never wear them). What a mistake. People were dressed to the nines with their fur coats, high heels and prom dresses. Oops. My bad. Next time I'll dress up.

So we got there around 6:55, and the show started at 7:30. I went to Will Call to pick up the tickets and after a long episode of 'Who's on First' the lady informed me that I needed to go to the box office to get my tickets. Done and done. Ed and I proceed to the upper balcony to sit down, and we notice that the theater isn't crowded at all. The Grand Suite seats were all taken, but the majority on the upper tier were not. So we went to our aisle and noticed there was a family of three sitting next to our seats. Ed and I scooted one seat over to give the family some space. There were empty seats in the section in front of us, so I told Ed that we will move forward once the lights dim. So we're sitting there drinking our beer and wine, and and two older females start walking down the aisle towards me. I told Ed that I bet one of them is going to have my seat number and actually want me to move down. Lo and behold! They are asking me where my tickets are and where my seat is. So Ed and I squish back next to the family, and the old ladies squish next to me. Our section probably has 200 seats. There are 30 people in the entire section and 7 of us are squished in the second row up. So I tell Ed that I'm hot and I'm moving. We squeezed past the ladies and sat under the fan a little down the aisle. Well, what do you know? Another gentleman comes walking up with our seats again. Ed was getting so mad, so we totally got up and went to the section in front of ours, which was the first tier of the balcony! Woohoo! We're in the big time.

Ed was still hot (he gets hot very easily) so he went to get another beer. The lights dimmed, and all sorts of people came running down from the upper tier to our tier to sit in the better seats. Well one family (or couple) smelled just like moth balls. It was pretty yucky. I scooted down one more sit away from the people, and when Ed came back he said 'where did all the mothballs come from?' HA!!HA!! It was those people. In the end the show was really good. The documentary will be on Maryland Public Television, but the lady only said the date once, so I don't know when it will be on.

The Hippodrome Theater was built in 1914, and the first shows that appeared were the Vaudevill type shows, a few singers and dancers like the Andrews Sisters and Cab Calloway. The owner of the theater gave Charlie Chaplin a chance to perform also. The theater closed in the mid to late 60s, and was just reopened in 2003. The renovation took 3 years, and the detail of the ceilings, floors, seats, everything is just amazing. A lot of painting and plasterwork was done and it looks gorgeous. The proceeds from the program last night went to the Baltimore Mounted Police Unit and a horse named Butch came onstage to accept the award. Butch was nervous and took a dump right on stage. Everyone started laughing, but that's what happens when you have animals on stage.

I didn't realize what a big deal it was to go to such a fancy place, but now I appreciate it so much more. I'm really lucky to live so close to the city and to be able to experience live shows whenever I want to. It's not cheap, but so far every dime spent has been worth it. Do you think a fur is tax deductible? hee hee.

I'm a Sour Puss

That should be my new yahoo instant messenger name. For the life of me, I just can't seem to be happy for any of my real life friends. Maybe that's why I don't have many. They all just get on my nerves (Ok..I just exaggerated there, but sometimes they do).

I just found out one of my girlfriends is prego. She's 34, and I think the pressure to have kids before all her eggs die is getting to her. She dated a guy (Bill) for about 5 years who already had 2 kids and was divorced. She said that he just wasn't the perfect guy for her. He was kind of lazy, and wouldn't really do anything unless he was pushed/forced to do it. Definitely not her style, but he was nice and pretty fun.

The father of the kid (Michael) is even worse than the previous guy. He seems kind of gay to me. He makes a lot of flimsy hand movements, and has that voice. I think he was probably in drama or something. Anyway, this girlfriend of mine hung out with Ed's family and me at Medieval Times in December, and she didn't know she was pregnant then. We were discussing Michael and she said that she is having fun with him now, but he's really not the guy she sees for a future. He reminded her of her old boyfriends and she didn't want to make the same mistakes again as far as hanging out with a loser for more than a year, spending every last dime she had on the guy, moving him into her apartment, etc.. This guy doesn't even have his driver's license, hardly works, and really doesn't even have a future of his own, let alone try to include my friend and her baby. He sucks, basically, and I'm not happy that she's pregnant with his kid. I wish her the best, and I know she'll be a great mom. I just think she could have done better. I think I should have tried harder to have her meet a few guy friends that I do have in real life. I even thought last night that I wish Bill was the dad.

I guess I'm a horrible friend for not being happy for any of my friends. I just think so highly of them, and want them to have the world and it seems like all of them are compromising because they have this idea of how things should be. *big sigh*

Yes, Valentine's Day is Coming

Today, I will discuss my Valentine's Day dilemma.
For those that haven't realized it yet, I love going out to eat. The last time I went out was to that Irish restaurant (alone). The post is somewhere down there. I'm too lazy to find it, but the faithful will know what I'm talking about. I don't think Ed appreciates good food like I do. He's happy with everything except red licorice and maraschino cherries.

This year, I want to go to a Spanish restaurant called Tio Pepe's. It's downtown and it's in a dungeon. hee hee. Not really, but you go downstairs, and the restaurant looks like a castle. The bad thing is that I went there many many moons ago with my last boyfriend for Valentine's Day and haven't been there since. All the candles had red candleholders, so the place looked scary, but the food was excellent and the sangria was even better. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants of all time.

Now, here's the dilemma. I'm not really that into Valentine's Day. Last year Ed got me a box of chocolates (all with different nuts in them), and I never ended up eating them. Pretty much the only chocolate with nuts that I like comes with a brown wrapper and the name Snickers on it, but he didn't know me that well last year, so it's not his fault. He also bought me a tshirt that says Ms. Wonderful (it's a nightshirt) and some red boxer shorts that are now his spare nighties if he stays over. hee hee. I think I got him a card and maybe one other thing. So, I am torn. Should I invite him to Valentine's dinner and then I can plan it and go where I want? Should I suggest that I really want to go to Tio Pepe's and for him to get on the ball and make reservations? Or, should I just lay low and wait for him to invite me someplace? Time is ticking away people. What say you?

Carhartts

I think I spelled that wrong, but I bought a pair of Carhartt bib overalls last winter. I was going to York, PA for a swap meet, and the temperature was supposed to be 40 degrees for a high. I bought the pants so that I could ride and still be super duper warm. I thought that would be the trick. I ended up not wearing them because they were kind of bulky, but I would still like to try to wear them sometime while riding and see how things go.

Anyway, ever since I got these bib overalls, I have been a snow shoveling queen. They keep me so warm, and you don't even have to wear a lot underneath. On Sunday, I wore a pair of jeans and a long sleeve tshirt. When I was done, I was almost soaked through my tshirt, and I was SO hot. I don't know what they do to make those clothes so warm (could it be the duck lining?), but whatever it is really works. I have no problems shoveling all day. I am now a true believer in Carhartts.

I see the construction guys and outdoor workers wearing their Carhartts, and I feel like I'm in a club with them. I know the secret to staying warm and working outside, and others don't. It's so cool. Actually, when I first decided to buy a pair, I saw a man in Home Depot wearing them, and I asked where he got them and whether he liked them or not. He gave me the scoop saying that sometimes they sell them at Home Depot, but they are cheaper at Sunny's Surplus. When I went to Sunny's they were on sale. Mine are dark brown (I didn't want the boring yellow), and they have a brown lining. The pants come down to the floor and they have long zippers on the side near the feet, so I can put my boots on before or after I put my overalls on. That has come in really handy because sometimes I forget what to put on first. These things are so durable too. I could fall down and get dragged by a car, and I don't think I would have road rash. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to experiment.

So, that's my pubic service announcement for the day. If you are looking for something that will keep you warm, and keep the water away from you in adverse conditions, and don't care about looking a little dorky, get some Carhartts. You won't regret it.

Oops

I didn't realize I posted my prize blog twice. I have been busy shoveling and watching How Do I look all weekend. I watched both football games yesterday, and got home around 11. I was pretty tired, so I figured I'd catch up with everyone today. Now..I'm back at work and swamped, so I'll try to catch up at lunchtime. See you guys then. :)

How about Johnny Carson dying? I should have put him on Mel's death pool. hee hee. He didn't even enter my mind.

I Won a Prize

I have good news to report everyone! I am a winner in the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Small Town Tour-2004. When I first started this blog, I know I mentioned going to Columbia, VA. That is the smallest town in VA. I believe I also mentioned taking a day trip to Port Tobacco, MD. Well, those were just two of the small towns on the list of 50 that I had an option of going to.
If you went to three towns, took a picture of yourself and your motorcycle with the town name, you get one chance to win a new set of tires. If you went to 6 towns, you get two chances. If you get 10 towns, you get a plaque. Guess how many I went to?

11 Small Towns. I'll just name the states: Virginia, Maryland, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Delaware, North Carolina, Arkansas, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. It says that the plaque says something about going to 1/5 of the United States by motorcycle. I can't wait to get it, although it will probaby be so cheesy. What if it has my name on it? They better spell my name right..or ELSE!

Another winner was a man that went to 46/50 states. He didn't go to Alaska and Hawaii, obviously, but he also didn't go to Massachusetts or Rhode Island. I'm going to have to look on my map and see what and where those towns were because if he was in Connecticut, he could have easily gone to Mass, and RI. I think he was just being a slacker. hee hee. It said something about money or you had to take a ferry and couldn't get there by bike, but if he has traveled over the entire US, what's a few dollars to get to the other state? Ok, I'm just mad that the man can ride his bike everywhere and I can't. I'm happy for him.

There was also a prize for best picture. I took a similar picture to the one that won, except I didn't have the curvy road in mine. I just had my bike in the ditch with the sign behind my bike. The winner had his bike in the street. I wouldn't leave my bike on the street for cars to hit. I would be stuck in the middle of Gilbert, AR-population 33, with no ride. Not such a good idea.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a happy moment with you guys. Have a great weekend!!

Snow!!

It snowed yesterday afternoon, and the little boss is scared to drive in the snow. She left early and then called and said we could leave early if we needed to. Well, I always NEED to leave early. I got home around 2:45, put my Carhartts on and started shoveling. The snow was light and fluffy, so it wasn't too bad. I decided to shovel in lieu of exercising so that meant that I had to clean the entire driveway. Well, from where my car was parked to the end. I sweated up a storm, and my driveway looked great. I even shared some of my salt with my neighbor. She was appreciative.
I think this weekend we are supposed to get another big snow storm, and if that happens, I hope Ed will help me shovel. :)

I happened to see my friend that's in another country on Yahoo Messenger last night. He's fine! Maybe I do have a little crush on him, but he keeps saying flirty things to me, so it's making me a little nervous. He said 'well, you are a good catch, so I can understand why Ed likes you.' hee hee. Stuff like that makes me nervous because no one ever likes me likes me. Just friendly like, so it's all new to me.

My coworker sucks big balls. HA!!HA!! She can always help certain people around here, but when I need her assistance or her help she's always too busy. If you were to talk to her, she's the only one here that's actually doing work. True, she works 20x harder than the rest of us, but we all work smarter, not harder, so it's her own fault. She is the gossip queen of the company, makes up gossip to make herself feel better, and is moody as the day is long. One day she's your best friend, the next day it pains her to say hello. What is with some people?

OK. I have to start my day. See you guys later.

Wednesday Wednesday

This weekend I'm going on my shopping spree. I'm not too happy about it, but all my pants are getting way too tight, and I just need a change. My goal is to go to the mall and try to get to three stores without getting frustrated. I will buy at least three things. That's my goal.

I was watching MTV or VH1 on Monday night and saw that show Strange Love that YB was talking about with Bridgette Nielsen, Flava Flav and Matti(Bridgette's fiancee). That show was SOOOOOOOO bad. I watched one segment and I had had enough. Flava Flav looks so old. HA!!HA!! Good thing I found the special on Martin Luther King Jr. Poor MLK Jr. I sure would like to talk to him when I get to heaven.

I also did laundry on Monday night and one sweater I have says 'lay flat to dry.' Well, since it's only 15 degrees outside, and not that warm in my basement I figured I would put it in the dryer on air fluff or whatever that setting is. I think I shrunk my sweater but I don't want to admit it. This is one of my favorites and now it's going to the goodwill pile. I suck at doing laundry. No...it's just that I'm impatient.

I got a call last night from my first boss. I was a temporary employee, and this woman has always been keeping an eye out for me as far as jobs and stuff like that. Well, she's Japanese and has a really strong accent. She asked me if I knew XXX. I couldn't understand her and just said 'nope.' I thought about what she was trying to say and couldn't figure it out. Then she said that this person said they are the boss at my company. I said 'OH!! That's my little boss.' Interesting tidbit. I gave my little boss an outstanding recommendation. Even though she's my little boss, she's nice, and a good worker and if she's trying to get out of here, I don't blame her at all. She only hounds us because other people hound her. So, we'll see when she goes to an interview, and maybe she'll get the job because of me. I still haven't figured out if this is a good or bad thing. I'll keep you guys updated.

Friends Are Good To Have

On Friday, I had two emails from friends that have since moved on in their lives, and live in totally different places. One moved to Colorado, and another moved to a country in Europe. I liked both of them when they were around, but I never would have realized the impact they had on me this past Friday.

We'll start with the first one. He is a native of Baltimore, and I met him in 1999, when I was dating my old boyfriend. I would hang out with him and all the rest of my friends every Friday and Saturday night, and we would usually end up hanging out at one bar or another, and then usually going back to someone's house afterwards. No one had any deep conversations or anything like that, but it was just a fun group of people to hang out with. Since my boyfriend at the time was a car guy (body and fender worker), if anyone needed work done on their cars, they would come over to my house and use my garage and the old boyfriend's tools. Again, nothing really came out of these hang out periods. We'd just hang out. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less, and eventually the car would get fixed and the guy(s) would go home. I forget why, but the guy I'm talking about ended up giving me a cart for tools and other random things. It's a lightweight cart, so if you're working in the garage, you can put everything you need on the cart and wheel it around near you. It's pretty handy. The funny thing is that it has his initials on it. Kind of like that 'property of' tag. We kind of lost touch and then I found out he had a girlfriend, and was moving away to go to school and start his life with this girl. I think maybe she's in school or something out there too, but I don't know. So I got this email from him and he was just so nice. He said that he always thought that I was a really good friend, and he really valued all the time we spent together and stuff like that. He even said he missed me (awww..). I have always thought this guy was nice, but it really touched me when I read his email. Who knew? That's one good friend to have, and I hope that when I'm out in Sturgis, we can make a special trip to Colorado to see him.

Friend number two, I just met recently. Well, April 2003. I was single at the time and was just hanging out at a friend's house. This friend appeared, and we pretty much clicked instantly. We hung out and rode our motorcycles all over the place, and just had a really good time together. Things were kind of weird at first because I never knew if he liked me, if I wanted to admit that I liked him, but I definitely just enjoyed the time we had together and didn't make a big deal out of it. That's something that comes really easy to me (ignoring feelings. hee hee). So, needless to say he moved away to another country. We still keep in touch probably once a week or once every two weeks, but Friday his email just really hit close to home. He was saying that he wished I didn't live so far when he was in the states, and you never know what would've happened, etc.. Just stuff like that. True, I don't know if anything would have happened romantically, but I just miss being friends. He also said something about there's no sense coming to the states and going to TX if I'm not going to be there! hee hee. That made me laugh because he's right. I wouldn't go back to the rally that I went to last summer (in TX) unless something REALLY good was going to be there, so I totally don't blame him. HA! Then, he was telling me about all these rides he's planning on going on this summer in his country and neighboring countries, and I just wish I could be there to go with him. I think that maybe he never had a friend like me before, and it makes me a little sad that we are so far apart. I have had friends like him before, but it usually takes me a while to get to the totally comfortable stage, where with him, it was just so easy from day one. I don't know what I'm trying to say. It's just nice sometimes to get a call or an email from someone that you haven't heard from in a while just to say hi and I miss you.

Fake Eyelashes

I was watching tv last night and I saw a commercial showing voluminous eyelashes because of some fancy mascara. I always wondered how they make the women's eyelashes 5X thicker. I realized that it's probably fake eyelashes. I have now decided that I want them. I know they used to sell them in CVS when I worked there in college, so I'm sure they still have them, but I don't know anything about them. Can I sleep in them? Will I look really different? Ok, anyone that has used them is going to have to pipe up, and fill me in. I think I'll wear them for my friend's wedding. HA!!HA!! That gives me 10 months to practice putting them on, and not having my fingers superglued to my eyelashes.

Today's Events

It's late, I'm tired, but here's a quick play by play of my day:

8:30-I wake up because Ed's supposed to be over at 8:30 to start our day. He shows up at 10:30, and then has to write a list of all of our errands. I sit and read while he figures out where to go first, blah blah. I told him I had no plans, so it was up to him to figure out our day. By 11, he decides that we're going to the motorcycle show in DC. Great!

11:02-We get on our way and he realizes that he has no cash, and he has to find a bank. The reason he had no cash was because the bank was on the list of things to do, and since we (he he) scrapped the list, he forgot about the bank. I got money at the 7-11 and we were back on the road.

12:35-we're parked and going to the show. It was great! We both got tons of goodies from the show, and now I have some winter reading material and other assorted trips and things to think about until riding season strikes again.

3:45-We get to my parent's house to drop off my sister's gifts for Christmas. She's there, so we talk to her for a bit, play with her new puppy, Costanza, and she checks my teeth for cavities since I never go to the dentist. She's a dentist in NYC. My teeth check out fine, but she said I might want to consider a retainer for the two teeth that are getting a gap, and she also tells me to 'have my peg lateral fixed for the love of God!' For those that don't know, a peg lateral is a pointy canine tooth. It's common in India-Indian people. I don't know where it came from, but I have one. She likes the gift that I gave her (the portable DVD, a scarf that I meant to give her two Christmas' ago, and had in my closet until this year, and a case for the dvd player). What did I get? Two pairs of flannel nightclothes. It's cool, I asked for it, so I can't complain right? Well, not a minute after I receive my gift, she tells me that her husband started working for this company as Senior Accountant two weeks ago, and the company just sold 25 million dollars worth of their heart monitor type machines. The best part-he's getting $160,000 as a bonus. I guess it's some sort of profit sharing deal, but 160,000 dollars, and all I get are two freaking pairs of nightclothes???? Lord and Jesus have mercy on my soul. Talk about cheap. When I heard this, I wanted to say. Oh, since I don't have 1 portable dvd player, or a fashionable scarf and leather case for the DVD player, maybe I should take those back and call them my own, since I'm a broke mother-f'er, and could use a nice gift. But..I didn't. I just said 'thanks, gotta run. Football's on.'

5:30-We go to Ed's brother's house to watch football and all is hunky dory. The Steelers won in overtime (ugh!), and the Falcons were tearing it at halftime when we left. So now I will go sleep with tissue plugs in my nose (ha! that's so nasty), and hope I have a good night's sleep. What a day.

I'm a Jinxer

The weather has been really crazy here as it has been all over the world as a matter of fact. Yesterday it was supposed to be almost 70, but I only think it got to the low 60s, but it was also rainy. A few days ago I went to the store and decided to buy tissues. Maybe it was Nina's tissue post that got to me, or just the fact that I didn't have any in my house and haven't had any for at least a year. I don't catch colds easily, and I hardly ever have then, so what's the point of buying tissues? So, I bought the tissues.

Then, yesterday I was talking to YB, and he was saying that he felt silly and it probably meant that he was getting sick. I also went to the grocery store with another coworker and she bought a 3-pack of tissues. Fine. I got home last night and started feeling hot and cold. I had my heat on, but I would get these waves of chilliness. I decided to go to bed somewhat early and try to sleep off whatever was happening.

This morning I woke up and my throat was clogged. I wasn't hot or cold, but I just felt a little yucky. I went to the store and bought some cough drops and peanut butter crackers (no reason, they just called my name), and got into work around 8:30. I am now going through the hot/cold thing again, but I don't really feel bad. Maybe I'll go home a little early today. It's Friday and not like I'm doing anything anyway. I'll see how I feel at 12 (after I eat my coworker's homemade eggrolls). :D

Lost Soul

I know a girl who is 23 or 24, divorced with two kids, lives off some sort of welfare or government program and is just the saddest person one would ever want to know. She's a big drinker and smoker, but she can also be fun when the time presents itself. Although now that I think about it, she's usually drunk when she's fun. When she's not drunk she's depressed and miserable. OK..Let me move on.

Last night I was talking to her on the computer, and she told me that she hates her kids, and she's just so tired of everything. She says she's "trying", but she just can't seem to dig herself out of the hole that she's in. She is no longer receiving money from the government, but she didn't tell me why. The past couple weeks her kids have been emptying everything out of the refrigerator and freezer and throwing the stuff on the carpets. Jelly, eggs, cocoa powder, milk etc.. So, me, being the problem solver asked when she was planning to move to another state where her grandmother was going to watch the kids while she works, and she could watch the grandmother when she's home. She said she's not moving until the end of Feb. So then I asked her about a WIC (women, infants, children) program in her area, where the kids could have daycare and she could look for a job. She said that she doesn't want to get a job when she'll be moving in one month. Then I told her that fast food places don't care if you work for a month and then quit, and one month of pay is better than 0 months. She hemmed and hawed about that. Then she said that the bus doesn't go near her, and she can't possibly walk anywhere. I told her that she had two kids to provide for and sometimes you just have to suck it up and do something you don't want to do so that child protective services doesn't call her anymore. I also suggested having one of her friends drive her to the new state so she can start a new life. She said that he has forgotten about her and has problems of his own (I figured maybe he's just as frustrated with her as I am). I also told her that saying she's trying isn't trying, so stop saying that to people and making them feel sorry for her. Finally..after I had exhausted all my thoughts, I finally said 'I'm sure if you sulk for the rest of your life, things will definitely get better. Nothing will ever get better for you, and that's too bad.' She logged off the computer after that. So what if she's mad? If she can't help herself, I can't help her either. I don't know anything about kids, or bad kids. I can't remember ever being out of work since I was 16, and I really can't remember thinking everything will just come easy for me. She probably thinks like my brother in that everything's been handed to me, but it hasn't. Trust me.

Things I Don't Understand

I was thinking a lot on my way home yesterday and so many thoughts popped into my mind, so I just thought I'd make a short list.

*how can people walk while eating? I've been several places where people are just walking down the street eating fried chicken? Are they that busy that they can't sit down for a few bites?

*how can people eat chicken in their car? Are they that hungry that they can't wait to get home? French fries are different. Those don't make a mess. When you take a bite of chicken, the batter falls everywhere.

*why do people drive slow in the left lane and never move over to the right?

*why do my coworkers insist on talking to me about work when I'm obviously eating my lunch. I think I need a sign to put on my forehead with work zone and a red line through it. HA!!HA!! (that made me laugh-hard!)

*how can one person be such a big slob? My coworker is the messiest, laziest person when it comes to putting things away. Every time something here is messy or out of place, I secretly blame him. His future wife has got to be a neat freak because I couldn't stand someone like that. I'm no janitor!

*Why does a weasel go pop? What does that mean?

*I wish we all lived in the same time zone so that when I'm done writing my blog, everyone else will be done writing theirs. I'm sad at 7am when I get to work to check in and most of you are still snoozing.

*That's all for now. Add more questions if you like. I am ready to stimulate my brain.

Who Needs Approval?

I'm not calling anyone out, but if you have a question to ask, just ask it! Don't ask if you can ask it. What is wrong with some people? I can't understand those that don't assert themselves when need be. Are they wanting approval, to be liked, someone to tell you you're ok? I really don't get it.

If I want to ask you why your shoes are on backwards, I don't say 'Hey, mind if I ask you something?' I say 'Hey, why are your shoes on backwards?' Here's another example 'I think I would like to go to the motorcycle shop this weekend.' My response is 'Go right ahead. Oh, are you inviting me?' I guess it goes along with the whole passive aggressive thing, but I don't understand that either. If you have something to say, just say it and stop pussyfooting around. You'll never get the answer you want if you avoid the question altogether. Once someone says 'no, you can't ask me a question', then you just feel pitiful and stupid and never even find out if they wanted to go to the motorcycle shop.

This probably doesn't make any sense, but I just had to say something! ;)

Propel Fitness Water

A while back Quyen was talking about drinking Propel Fitness Water. On New Year's Day Ed and I were out riding, and we stopped for drinks. I decided to get a fitness water because I had heard of them but never tried it. It was so good! I bought the tropical citrus. It was hot outside, and I needed to be refreshed so I thought that was a good flavor. I love the little blue lip top. hee hee. My lips fit perfectly on that thing. The bottle fits in my bike cupholder, so the water received an A in my book. The fitness water just tastes like regular water, but sweeter. It also has a slight saccharin/aspartame taste, but nothing compared to diet soda. I went out the next day and bought 6 peach bottles, and yesterday I bought 6 berry bottles. I'm trying to save them and use them as a motivation for me to do my taebo, but they are so good, I have snuck a few just because I'm thirsty for them.

Thanks for the tip, Q-tee. hee hee.

Dinner Alone

Have you guys every gone out to eat by yourself to a sit down restaurant?

On Thursday night, I had planned on taking Ed's dad to a restaurant downtown (with Ed of course) for installing my thermostat. Well, Thursday afternoon Ed called and said he bought steaks and green beans, so he would just cook. I had my mind and my mouth set on going out to eat, so after his dad left, I told Ed that I would like to go to the restaurant on Friday. He asked who else was going, and I told him that I was going by myself if he didn't want to go. Well, no can do. He said he would go, and would probably pay too. Woohoo! I was all pumped up on Friday. I love going out to eat, but I haven't really gone out in a while, and this was something I was looking forward to.

So Friday afternoon rolls around, I installed the thermostat myself, and I was ready to chow down. Well, Ed called and said he was tired and cold. I said 'ok. talk to you later.' He asked if I wanted to go out Saturday afternoon or Saturday night. I told him that I probably would go out for one of those meals, but I'm still going out tonight. So, I watched Judge Judy, and headed out.

I found a parking spot right in front of the building and went into the restaurant. It is an Irish place called Slainte, and it was pretty good. They had two soccer games on, an Irish bartender, tons of people drinking Guinness and Harps, McCaffreys and just a great ambience. I had a couple beers and ordered steamed clams for an appetizer. I love mussels, but the non-seafood eating waitress didn't understand my question about their size, so I went with the clams. So good. For dinner, I had shepherd's pie. I make a really good shepherd's pie (it's my Irish ancestors), but I put wine in the meat and that gives it a great flavor. Their pie didn't have any wine in it, but it was still hearty and delicious. I also would have liked a few more vegetables, but I will still give it a 4/5. I was too stuffed to eat dessert, so I just sat there watching the soccer games and people watching.

I love going out alone because it officially gives you license to watch others. You don't have to pay attention to your dining partner because you don't have one. You can listen to others' conversations and not feel bad, and just watch. I love watching people. The bartender discussed how he met his fiancee with a couple that is getting married sometime soon. One group of guys were flat broke, and had to run to the ATM to get cash and cigarettes so they could enjoy their Friday night, one lady fell down the stairs (kind of near me), and everyone stopped talking and looked, but no one asked her if she was ok. I would have, but she got up and kept walking. It was an older lady, so I figured she would just be sore in the morning.

If you've never braved a restaurant on your own, do it. You don't look like a freak and the waiters/waitresses are usually nicer to you because they don't feel like they are intruding. :)

Queen of Electricity

I can't write a lot because I have to get ready to start my day.
I just wanted to share that I installed my digital thermostat last night. I called an electrician because Ed's dad was having troubles the night before, but the electrician canceled and I didn't want to be without heat for the entire weekend. So, as soon as I got home from work I decided to read the instructions and keep the lights on until I had to cut everything off, and it worked!

It's so nice having this thermostat. It's supposed to make a difference in my bill (we'll see), but so far so good. YAY ME!!

Self-Centered? No Way

Today, I was surfing the blog community, as we all like to do and I started laughing at everyone's blogs. You may not find it as funny as I do, but it was just something that interested me.Here's my blanket disclaimer that no feelings are meant to be hurt, just making a simple observation. Here goes:

Some of you guys are so creative, and just so cute with all the names you think of for my blog.

First, let's start with something simple. It doesn't get as simple as Adam, Veronica or Ropemonkey. They don't give a crap about having anyone's names on their blogs. They just want to write down their feelings or stories, and link to their own friends without anyone knowing that they have any. That's great. I'm a little jealous, but I have links on mine for ease of surfing throughout the day. There's no way I could ever remember everybody's site address, so that's why I choose to have my list off to the right. Oops Adam, I just realized I dont have your name linked, but wait until I get to work in the morning. You're in trouble.

Second-the copycat. There are two people out there that have chosen to call my site by the same name. The winners are (envelope please) -Beergirl and Ian. They both chose to call this place 'Peachy's world'. Yes, it is my world, and I'm excited that you guys realized that. We also have another set of copycats, but it's cool. I still love yous guys (that's baltimorese, right there). The next envelope please....the award goes to Quyen and Mel Mega. They both decided to title my corner of the world 'Peachy-keen.' Also unique and very appropriate. I have a pretty good outlook on life, although if people ask me how I'm doing, I never say Peachy keen. It's just too corny for me to say it myself.

Yankeebob came very close to being in this group, but he was off by one word. He titled his 'Peachy-It's her world.' Nina, was also a runner up in the copycat category because she titled hers 'Peachy-She's In Her Own World.' Now Nina, is this an insult? Should I be offended? Ok..I'm not. I am in my own world and I love that you noticed. I'm a pretty random person. It does take me a few chances to make sure my stories are concise and everything happens in order, but every now and again, I'm so excited typing about my day that everything gets jumbled.

Next we have Emmie (this is my moto. friend Emmie. I know there is someone out there that goes by Em, but I don't know you to talk about you just yet). Emmie is just a state the facts kind of girl. She simply wrote 'peachy'. Well done, Miss Emmie. No one has any doubt in their mind when they look on your blog, as to where they are headed next.

Now, to the more interesting names. Grace linked my blog to hers by writing 'Peaches 'n Cream'. Now that sounds delicious! I would think that perhaps it is the Quaker oatmeal site, but then again, when someone clicks it, they will soon find out that they are very mistaken. Peaches and cream is cute, and it's the color I wanted my motorcycle to be. My bike didn't really turn out to be as peach as I would've liked, but no harm, no foul. One can never go wrong with Peaches and cream. Golf clap for Grace.

Next up, creativity award..LAH, with 'Peachy-riffic'. Outstanding choice for a link. It's like Peachy and terrific combined. Who wouldn't want to come visit? I do like this one, and perhaps it's my favorite (although I like all of you guys the same, honestly). It also reminds me of Tony the Tiger, saying They're Grrrreeaat! It's along the same lines. Hands down, LAH wins this award.

The one link that really made me smile today when I visited was Egghe's blog. He is a newcomer to the scene. He didn't think that he would be so into blogging, but so far he's posted something almost every day. I will have to add him so that maybe he will feel just as special as I did this morning. Stop the crying and get to what he called your site already! He wrote 'peachy's place.' To me, Peachy's place sounds so warm and inviting. I just want to put on my sweatpants and eat ice cream. That is a must have when visiting Peachy's place. So, before you come here from now on, you have to put on your sweats, and chill out.

Whoa..this is long. I have only been on the blogspot since September, but I am really fortunate to have you guys writing down your life stories, and little things that go on in your lives. The internet at work gets so old sometimes, but with blogging buddies, you always have something to do, and something to read. Besides, it looks like you're doing work. So...everyone, keep up the good work, and I'll see you tomorrow. PS. I like plain things, and I'm not very creative, so that's why I simply put your names. I'll gladly accept the snooze award. Laters!

Oops. I forgot. There are the two people that I have linked, but don't even care about me enough to link me, but they link others. Is that the ultimate slap in the face, or what? HA!!HA!! Just kidding ladies. Smashlee and CindyLou do not care to link me because they find me pathetic and loser-esque. I'm ok with that because I will still sneak and read their blogs whethere they like it or not!

Attitude Changes Everything

Last night was the night to go to two bridal shops to look at wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses for my friend Heather.

One of the stores was kind of far away and the other was a little closer to my house. Heather was supposed to meet me at 4 to go to the shop far away, but she had an appointment at the one closer to my house at 6:30. I was nervous about the times because I didn't know how bad traffic would be, and I didn't think we were going to make it. But..we have to try anyway.
She got to my house a little before 4, so I told her that there was no time to dilly dally and we had to hoof it up to the first shop. We got there around 4:15 or so, and traffic wasn't bad at all. Thank goodness for lighter traffic during the week. We picked out about 8 dresses. She picked a couple, I picked a couple and the salesman picked a couple. The first dress she tried on was beautiful. It was a slightly off white color with some random beadings and spaghetti straps. I think that's the one that I picked out, and it was just great. We were all really excited about this dress. She tried on a couple more and they just weren't working. Then, she tried on the one that she got and it blew the one I picked out of the water. It's hard to describe, but it reminds me of a shirt and jacket, although the dress is one piece. It's white with some white and yellow/gold beading, but not yellow enough that you notice it. The shirt part has heavy beading at the top and decreases as you go down the dress. The jacket part (the cutout is only about 3 inches, but it looks like an insert) has the beading and flowers on it. It's really hard to describe, but there is a scoopneck, and there are medium sized straps that are right at the top of her shoulders and neck. Ok..i'm really not the descriptive type, but if I find a picture, I'll show it to you. It's gorgeous and it's gorgeous on Heather too. The salesman picked this one out, and neither Heather nor I would have chosen it off the rack, so thank goodness he was there.

The guy offered her 100 bucks off if she bought it right then and there, so she did. We got out of the first store at 5:45 or 6, and had to get back to the other store by 6:30. We were making such good time. We went to David's bridal and were able to look at the bridesmaid dresses and pick one out in good time also. I tried on 1 dress, and knew this was the one we were getting. It has crepe straps (kind of wide) and there is a line (almost like an empire waist) in the middle, and then the dress splits in the front (almost like Heather's dress), and it just flows down to the floor. I think it will look good on all of our body types and it's 130 dollars. Not bad, and Heather said she doesn't care what shoes we wear (I hope she sticks to this idea). It's a pretty dress-plain like me, but still a great dress. We left david's and went out to eat. I made it back home by 9pm. Now that's the kind of shopping I'm talking about.

For those that have to go shopping with the bride, go on a weekday. People are more willing to make time for you, I bet you'll get a better deal because no one buys dresses during the week, and it's not as stressfulbecause you don't have to see all the pathetic brides trying on a million dresses. Victory is mine!!!

Booo Monday!!

*begin tantrum*I can't believe it's Monday already. It should be written that no Christmas or New Years holidays should fall on a weekend. There's not enough time to party and relax when it falls on a weekend. Then, you have to go back to work on Monday! It's really not fair. *end tantrum*

I went riding with Ed on Saturday. The temps reached 65 degrees I believe, the sky was blue, the sun was out, and so were we. I think everyone in MD that owns a motorcycle was out riding on Saturday. It's so awesome to see so many fellow bikers out on the roads, looking for the ultimate road. I think Ed and I were the only ones that found it, but as long as wind is in your face, it doesn't really matter. *sigh*. What an awesome day.

Sunday, I watched football. The Ravens played ok against the Dolphins, but theDolphins suck and of course the Ravens could play ok against them. Unfortunately, the Jaguars (Jacksonville), Broncos (Denver) and Bills (Buffalo) had to lose in order for us to make it to the playoffs, and that didn't happen. So, the year is over for the Ravens, and that brings regular season to a close. It was a great 16 weeks. Ed Hockule, my love, see you in the playoffs. I will watch every game for you.
I also went to see a play last night. It wasn't the best, but it was something to do.

Last night I couldn't get to sleep. I was having flashbacks of my weekend and it was keeping me awake. I probably tossed and turned for about an hour or an hour and a half. I'm not really sure why I kept tossing and turning, but I did have a good weekend, so maybe I just didn't want it to end.
