Attitude Changes Everything

Last night was the night to go to two bridal shops to look at wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses for my friend Heather.

One of the stores was kind of far away and the other was a little closer to my house. Heather was supposed to meet me at 4 to go to the shop far away, but she had an appointment at the one closer to my house at 6:30. I was nervous about the times because I didn't know how bad traffic would be, and I didn't think we were going to make it. But..we have to try anyway.
She got to my house a little before 4, so I told her that there was no time to dilly dally and we had to hoof it up to the first shop. We got there around 4:15 or so, and traffic wasn't bad at all. Thank goodness for lighter traffic during the week. We picked out about 8 dresses. She picked a couple, I picked a couple and the salesman picked a couple. The first dress she tried on was beautiful. It was a slightly off white color with some random beadings and spaghetti straps. I think that's the one that I picked out, and it was just great. We were all really excited about this dress. She tried on a couple more and they just weren't working. Then, she tried on the one that she got and it blew the one I picked out of the water. It's hard to describe, but it reminds me of a shirt and jacket, although the dress is one piece. It's white with some white and yellow/gold beading, but not yellow enough that you notice it. The shirt part has heavy beading at the top and decreases as you go down the dress. The jacket part (the cutout is only about 3 inches, but it looks like an insert) has the beading and flowers on it. It's really hard to describe, but there is a scoopneck, and there are medium sized straps that are right at the top of her shoulders and neck. Ok..i'm really not the descriptive type, but if I find a picture, I'll show it to you. It's gorgeous and it's gorgeous on Heather too. The salesman picked this one out, and neither Heather nor I would have chosen it off the rack, so thank goodness he was there.

The guy offered her 100 bucks off if she bought it right then and there, so she did. We got out of the first store at 5:45 or 6, and had to get back to the other store by 6:30. We were making such good time. We went to David's bridal and were able to look at the bridesmaid dresses and pick one out in good time also. I tried on 1 dress, and knew this was the one we were getting. It has crepe straps (kind of wide) and there is a line (almost like an empire waist) in the middle, and then the dress splits in the front (almost like Heather's dress), and it just flows down to the floor. I think it will look good on all of our body types and it's 130 dollars. Not bad, and Heather said she doesn't care what shoes we wear (I hope she sticks to this idea). It's a pretty dress-plain like me, but still a great dress. We left david's and went out to eat. I made it back home by 9pm. Now that's the kind of shopping I'm talking about.

For those that have to go shopping with the bride, go on a weekday. People are more willing to make time for you, I bet you'll get a better deal because no one buys dresses during the week, and it's not as stressfulbecause you don't have to see all the pathetic brides trying on a million dresses. Victory is mine!!!
