Medieval Times is the Best!!
Ed's famiy doesn't really celebrate Christmas in a traditional sense. They get together, but it's usually to watch a movie, or to watch football. The dad is kind of spacy, and the mom has this new younger boyfriend, so she is off doing her own thing, so the kids usually decide what they are going to do. This year they decided to go to Medieval Times (A dinner and tournament restaurant and show type place. Watch The Cable Guy and you'll know what I'm talking about). So, last night was the day. There were about 24 of us (friends and family), and I think everyone had a blast.
We walked in, and the wenches (HA!!HA!!) give you a crown and a table card. If you are in a group, you are supposed to show up an hour early. Well, the hour is spent getting beers or drinks and looking around the castle. They had a knighting ceremony for people who were having birthdays, and giving them prizes and making the "knights" feel special on their big day. They had a huge margarita in aMedieval Times glass that was selling for a mere 24.00. I bought a beer and it cost me 6. It was in a plastic Medieval Times stein. Later Ed bought two beers in glass goblets. Who knows how much that cost, but everyone paid him for the show while we were there so he was rich.
We entered the grandstand and sit in our seats. The knights came out and we all cheered for the blue knight and booed the others. The horses did tricks and the knights had some competitions. The blue knight came by our section with three roses. I smiled at him as best as I could, and he threw a rose to me. I stood up and showed the group that he picked me! hee hee. It was fun. Then, there was a jousting/fighting tournament and the blue knight won the tournament. We were hoarse from screaming the whole show, and everyone else was probably disappointed that their knight sucked. hee hee.
The food was excellent for a place that's so big. I'm thinking they had 75 seats per section, and there were 6 sections. Each seat was about 50 bucks, so they are definitely making money off this gig. For dinner, we had vegetable soup with noodles, a half a chicken, a fatty spare rib, a potato with some spices on it, pepsi or iced tea, a piece of garlic bread, and an apple turnover for dessert. You have to eat with your fingers because there were no utensils in medieval times (ba dum ching). I couldn't eat all of my soup so I gave it away to Ed's brother who has no problems eating with his hands. There was more than enough food and fun for the price. if you get the chance to go, you definitely should. :)
All in all it was a fun night. Tonight is Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hippodrome. One more day of fun for me.

i went there once. it's fun. i don't know if i ever want to go back, though. your fingers get all sticky and smell like meat for the duration of the show. i couldn't handle that.
i suppose i could've gone to the restroom to wash my hands... but i would've gotten lost. i'm just that way.
i did get a flower from the knight throwing out flowers to the fair maidens. i think he missed the girl a few seats down. :P
Thanks Veronica and Grace.
They gave us a hot towel after dinner to wipe our hands with, and also we had some wet wipes. Of course, i was drinking beers, so I got up at least twice to see a man about a horse. HA!!HA!!
