Wedded Bliss

I'm not going to talk about this too much. I absolutely refuse to let this wedding that my friend is having overtake my life, and my emotional well being. That being said, I must rant.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about, I wrote something a few days ago entitled Engagement News. Quick summary, my friend Heather has lived for being married. I've known her since freshman year in college and all she wanted was to get married. She is now engaged and here is today's story.

I called up Dr. Heather (that's my friend. I forget whether I mentioned her by name before), and I asked if she got the link to this awesome wedding catalogue. The site is jeanm, and they have the cutest favors, fanciest invitations, etc..Anyway, we got to talking and she was telling me that the wedding was on Friday night. I said 'Friday night? Oh, ok. I guess I could take off Thursday if there is a rehearsal dinner or something.' She said 'well, Friday night is so much cheaper than getting married on Saturday.'

That's all I will tell you for now because I'm getting angry. Here is a list of why I'm getting angry.

1. Her wedding is on Labor Day weekend.
2. The boyfriend's family lives in California.
3. She lives in MD, but is getting married in her hometown, in northern NJ (armpit of America, folks).
4. She's a freaking doctor. What's this "cheaper" stuff all about.
5. Why Friday night, for the love of God?

I think that's the list of why I'm angry. You guys can figure out the reasoning behind my being upset if you feel like it. If not, just ask. hee hee. No wedding I have ever been in or attended has gone right. Why can't I just be a guest once in my life.

oh, believe me... i had some issues with my friend (now ex-friend.. long story) and her stupid wedding.

i wish people would stop making such an effin' big deal out of it. it's just one day. it's an important one to be sure, but don't inconvenience people. it's supposed to be a joyous occasion, not one where you are just dreading everything... and i'm going to stop right here. because i'm pissed all over again. and it was months ago....

Sorry Grace.
I totally agree with you. Who wants to go and fight traffic for your special day? Nobody, but the bride makes you feel obligated. Be lucky you're already married. My friends and family are probably going to hate me when I get married. I'll tell them after the honeymoon. Send gifts to this address, please.

I'm really looking forward to your wedding. Especially the blog posts about it. (Yours and mine.)

Your Dr. friend has never done things quite like others, has she? I guess it would be out of character for her to start now.
