Trident Cool Rush Gum Analysis
I bought a pack of gum on Saturday night. I was on my way to my friend's party and I decided that fresh breath would be a good idea. I'm not usually one for buying gum, but this was a special occasion. Since I don't eat gum often, I figured I'd leave it in the car and when I am driving down the road, I can blow those cool fresh breath crystals all over the window and write my phone number if I see a hot guy in the next car over.
Today after work, I had the perfect opportunity. Unfortunately, I didn't have the gum in my mouth, and the light turned green. So, at the next stop light, I decided to check out the gum packaging. On the front it said 'Not a low calorie food.' Hmmm..what is that supposed to mean? So I turned the package over to find the nutritional information which is required on all food products. The gum stated that it had 5 calories per piece. Now..to me, 5 calories seems like nothing. That got me thinking. Maybe it said it because gum is not a food. So, if you were thinking about going on a diet, you cannot substitute gum for food, and that's why they labeled it the way they did. Then, I thought that maybe other gum has less calories, so if you eat Trident, you're only getting a cavity free mouth and whiter teeth, but NOT going to make your weight watchers point count. Maybe the pieces are just a little bigger than the average piece of gum, so they wanted to warn you of that fact and let you know that you'd be better off eating Eclipse or Orbit gum. It was really a tricky concept that I still don't quite understand. Who knows why it said that. I'm probably the only one that happened to notice that on the packaging, but the package was a purplish blue color and this (from memory) was written in yellow, so they had to put it there to notice.
Yes, the light has turned green and I drove down the street engaged in thought. That gum sure is good. I couldn't chew it for very long. I got to the light before my house and decided I had had enough. My mouth was getting tired, and there are no hot guys in my neighborhood. Why bother. hee hee.
