Sad Day at Work
Yesterday was doomsday here. 25 or 27 people got fired, laid off, dismissed, or whatever you want to call it. Our company has maybe 125 employees. MAYBE. Some of those included in the firing were the engineering director and the director of my department. Talk about surprising. So..yesterday not much work got accomplished by anyone, and I think today is the same (although I have seen a few go to meetings, and do some work). I'd rather just snack, do crossword puzzles, write out my Christmas cards and be lazy.
I never understand why people get fired around Christmas and Thanksgiving. I think our fiscal year ended in October, so they should have started the year off fresh and fired people Nov.1. They could've saved money on the 25 dollar gift cards to the grocery store that they gave out. Now, there are no bosses, and pretty much, no direction. Who knows what the future holds for this place, but I hope I'm not here the next time something bad happens.

Yep Peachy, I feel the hangover too. It's weird that the upper management hasn't changed much but it was them that led the company in the wrong direction. It's always the one's who do the hands-on work that pay the price for Management failures.
By the way, our fiscal year ends in July.
So you wonder why it took them so long to make the decision. And great timing, guys - fire 'em at Xmas! Bah, humbug...
