Carolers, la la la
Saturday night my old coworker and his wife had a Christmas party. The invitation came in a gold picture tube, and it had glitter and confetti inside it. It also had a wooden scroll with the party announcement written on it. That just goes to show what kind of woman this is. April, the hostess, is an aspiring interior decorator and she loves throwing grand parties (in the apartment) and having many activities for all to partake in.
Ed and I got to the party at 8, and I showed Ed their apartment. They had a model train in the bedroom running around the mouldings at the ceiling. it was pretty neat. In the living room, she had the walls painted gold and white but it wasn't a sponge paint, it was something with more texture. All the picture frames and chandelier holders were painted a matching color. There was plenty of food, beer, wine punch, and people. The apartment was packed. Outside they had a fire pit in the front yard and marshmallows and sticks for you to roast. They had homemade bean bag pillows stuck to a chunk of wood with a railroad spike so you could sit down and enjoy the fire. It was cold so I didn't hang around outside too much.
After about 1/2 hour April came running inside telling everyone that there was a suprise outside. Everyone shuffled outside and there was a horse, carriage and driver. April rented it for the guests. I got all sorts of excited and couldn't sit still. Ed told me that we couldn't go first, so we took the second ride. The horse was a Belgian mix of some sort. It looked like a Clydesdale with the fuzzy feet, but it wasn't as big as a Clydesdale, but this horse wasn't small either. Ed got a little scared on the uturn, but we made it. It was fun. We tipped the lady 10 dollars and she seemed excited. Maybe she just has the surprise voice down pat. :)
We went back inside and about 1/2 hour later, we all did the outdoor shuffle again. This time, April had rented 4 carolers to sing by the fire. It was really cool. The people were dressed in old time Christmas garb and their voices were just lovely. Of course, two drunk girls had to get in between the carolers and start dancing and singing off key, but it was kind of funny. After an hour the carolers were cold, so they came inside and filled the apartment with song. They were great.
We left around 10:30 or so, and we missed the gift exchange. I was a little upset that we missed it because I wanted to see someone's face when they got the blue/white snowflake slippers and the hanging candle, but oh well. I'll live without having a gag gift of my own.
I hope everyone went to fun Christmas parties this weekend. I had fun at mine.

That sounds like the BEST party, ever! Can you snag me an invite for next year???
I'll see what I can do Mel. They will have their own house next year so it might be even better.
