Sniffle, Sniffle
I have bad news to report everyone.
After coming off my regifting high, I received the dreaded phone call from my friend that just got engaged. It's a couple posts down if you're interested in reading the story. She asked me to be a bridesmaid.
She is in a sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, which is the first black women's sorority, founded in 1908. That's all well and good except their colors are pink and green. For those that don't see these colors on a regular basis, it's kind of scary. Considering my friend wore them all through college, decorated her house and dorm room with them, they start to grow on you. I told her that as long as I don't have to wear pink, I will be a bridesmaid. She said that I could wear forest green. I'm such a negotiator. So, that's the deal.
Why, Lord, was I born with two X chromosomes? My eggs are dying from the day I'm born, I get paid less, I can't find clothes that fit, I have to worry about people's emotions and worst of all, I have to do this bridesmaid thing time and time again? How many bridesmaid chances do you get before you are destined never to be married? I think I've reached the limit.
Maybe my next tattoo will say "Forever a bridesmaid." Kind of like 'forever in blue jeans' by ???
Are those even the words? I'm so distraught I can't think straight. Calgon, take me away!!!

you can always just turn her down... or you can be a really bad friend and 2 months before the wedding, tell her you can't do it.
i did that. i suck. but there's a whole huge story behind it. so i totally feel justified :P
There is no curse, I swear. Just look at yourself as a swinging single and not willing to settle just to get hitched.
As far as being a bridesmaid goes, you have had a lot of opportunities because you have a lot of friends. That's a good thing. Green isn't so bad...
As far as being a girl...yeah, don't get me started. I hear ya, sista. :)
I'd pick pink over forest green any day... I think you'd look cute in pink :) awwwwww... :D That's probably the last thing you want, now that I think about it :P
Q-Pink has actually grown on me, but considering the other bridesmaids, I don't want the group of us to look like huge sticks of cotton candy. It's for the best of the group.
G-That's too bad that you and your friend had a falling out. It was probably for the best.
N-Thanks for saying I have a lot of friends. I guess I have good friends at every stage through life, and they get married and move on. I like having "imaginary" friends now, but please no one invite me to be in their weddings. PLEASE!
No one knows how miserable it is to be a bridesmaid. Well, no one who hasn't had to do it. Yeah, you love your friends, but truly, no one understand what they are asking. Good job on negotiating your way out of pink. I'd do that too! The wedding I am in next year, I managed to pick out my own black dress. Yeah!

I do like bright colors, but I just have bad images of pink bridesmaid dresses in my head. :)
Ugh, I detest pink. Good choice with the green. And it's Forever in Blue Jeans by Neil Diamond! Woo-hoo!
