Sorry..

I officially hate using the new blogger from home. It's such a pain. I have to continually open things in new windows in order to use it, and I hate having a lot of windows open, so I close them all and go play spider solitaire. I'm a mess.

PSA for today- I just ordered my annual credit report, so you should probably do the same. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and you can either call in adn have them mail it to you or look at it online. Because my address is crazy (there's a 1/2 in it), I have many different address types, so I have to call mine in and hope the computerized lady can understand me. It's a pain, but I remember going through the same thing last year.

I'm pretty much out of the march madness competition. I picked Kansas (well, I didn't pick a winner, but I would've picked Kansas) and they lost on Saturday. Texas is also out of it. I don't even know if I have anyone in the running at this point. Maybe Florida, but who cares anymore. It's 10 bucks down the drain, and it was fun while it lasted.

It's getting warm here, so I have to get my bike started and in shape. Emmie is having a party at the end of April, and it's a few hours away. Since I'll be riding down there alone, I don't want any surprises nor do I want to miss the party because of some stupid thing I could've had fixed if I wasn't such a slacker.

The students took their midterms last Wednesday. They missed a lot of the basic addition problems because they were either thinking too fast, or their writing was too messy for them to understand. It's hard to drill basics into people's heads. WRITE YOUR NUMBERS IN A STRAIGHT LINE!! How many times can you say that? The grades ranged from 65-100. Of course, the girl that got 100 wasn't in class, and I gave her the test to complete at home. She might have used a calculator, but I don't care. It's her loss if she doesn't want to learn the material. One teacher can only do so much. I did ask her to bring in her scrap paper today, so we'll see how smart she really is.

I went to a 21st bday party on Saturday night. There was weed everywhere. I haven't been to a party that reeks of weed in ages, so it kind of took me back. The people at the party were ok. I was DD (as usual), so I only had a couple glasses of wine, and played cards. The drunk people couldn't understand how I was so good at the game. I was like 'duh..my reflexes are at 100%, you idiots.' HA!!HA!! I love winning.

Anyway, hope everyone's doing ok. Miss you.

March Madness

I have FL, Texas, Kansas and Ohio State in the Final Four and I have Kansas as winning it all. Unfortunately, I got an email from one of my coworkers during the MD game saying that I didn't actually put a winner on my bracket. If Kansas wins it all, I am gonna be mad. I don't understand how I could've missed filling in the winner (although I was ready to leave work for the day when I filled it out). We'll see how things go.

Duke lost last night and that makes me happy. They haven't lost in a first round game since '96. Everyone has been talking about how great they are, and they are not great. Everyone thinks they're great because they are Duke. The commentators can bite me now that I can say 'I told you so.'

I bought my new purse online. It's here! I wanted a different one at first, but the other one was too big and too much like a mom purse, so I didn't buy it. The one I bought was on sale, so I guess that's a double bonus. I got the dark brown color. It will match other stuff in my wardrobe better than the other colors, and I think the dark brown looks classy. It doesn't matter. It's time for me to splurge since I got my tax returns back. The rest of my $$ is going in the bank for another rainy day.

I caught a cold, but hopefully I'll be over it by tomorrow (yeah, right) so I can rage out with the other Irish population tomorrow. Have a great weekend!!

Wedding Bells? ha!

Yesterday evening, Ryan invited me to dinner with his dad. His dad was working in Delaware, and stopped by on his way home. Of course, I was game. I like Ryan's dad a lot. He's a curious fellow, and curious people are smart people, so I'm always down for answering silly questions.
We went to Mama's on the Half Shell for dinner. It's a seafood restaurant, and the clientele is pretty snooty, but the food was good. I ate two oysters (yes, on the half shell ha!), some clams casino, and then I had mussels as my main meal. The wine sauce that they used was a little tart/tangy for my taste, but the mussels were good.

Ryan's dad (Larry) had rockfish with saffron rice and asparagus, and Ryan had chicken chesapeake (chicken with crabmeat) with mashed potatoes. The presentation was gorgeous. The rockfish tasted good, but Ryan didn't share his with me so it must have been REALLY good.
At one point, Ryan went the bathroom, and Larry says "So, are you two ready to settle down and spend the rest of your lives together?" I didn't know if this was a serious question or one of his silly questions, so I kind of fumbled/stumbled and said "Well, we'll see where things go. Since I'm older than Ryan, I have no idea if he's ready to settle down, or he's just playing around." Larry said "I don't know if Ryan knows what playing around means." I told him that I didn't either. Thank goodness Ryan showed up right after that.

I can't remember if Larry ever knew that I had a boyfriend. I've been hanging out with Ryan, his friends, and his fam for a few years now, but I don't know if my other life was ever brought up. Larry probably thinks we've been together this whole time (which is funny).
I told Ryan what his dad said and he said 'Really, he asked you that?' I said 'Yeah, did you put him up to it?' He said he didn't. I did tell him that Larry does love me. HA!!HA!!

I do remember Brian or one of Ryan's friends telling me that Larry wanted Ryan to get married and start a family and all that good stuff, but I think I may have been drunk, and I don't remember the full conversation, but I remember that part. I wonder...

Mom-Mom's Bday and Broken Arms

I went to PA yesterday to check out the new Harrah's casino that opened a couple weeks ago. It was Mom-mom's 89th birthday, so we all took a road trip. The last couple years we have been treating her to a trip to the slots to celebrate. It's getting harder and harder to have fun, because her eyesight is going, and she can't see the buttons. After playing about 50 or 60 bucks, she finally won 36, and decided to cash out. We spent a couple hours there and it was a good time. My brother's new girlfriend won 70 bucks on the nickel machines, but she put it all back in the machine. Oh well. I, on the other hand, played for about 10 minutes, didn't win one quarter, and then I hit for 22.50. I decided to stop, and overall, I won 14.50. Yay me!! hee hee. I was only planning on spending 10, so it worked out.

I think I wrote about how my mother has to wear the oxygen tube now, and she didn't go to the casino with us because there was too much smoke, and that's no good. After we spent our money, we headed to my grandmother's house to pick up Mommie, and we went to dinner. While we were eating, her machine was running low on batteries or something, so it started beeping really loud. We're fumbling around with the machine, and it's just beeping, beeping. I think people were probably looking at us, but Daddy and I were too busy trying to get it to stop. Mom-mom has no idea Mommie has an oxygen tube, so she kept saying "Your phone is ringing. Whose phone is that? Answer it!' My sister and I were laughing and trying to change the topic. Finally the machine stopped beeping, and we continued on with our meal. 10 minutes later, the same thing happened again and the machine stopped again. What a pain. I guess Mommie will have to figure out how that thing works.

Last night I headed back to DE to see my sisters and had dinner at her house. Ryan came along, and it was a good time for all. Mom-mom thought Ryan was my younger sister's husband. That was a bit funny. She kept calling Ryan, Dave.

Oh, and the big news is that on Friday night, Ryan, friends and I were out at the bars. Brian (Ryan's best friend) decided he wanted to arm wrestle someone. So he arm wrestled a really cool gay guy, and all was good. Then, a guy out of nowhere shows up and says he wants to play. Ryan sat down against the guy, and ended up breaking his arm. I think it was a hustle, but I have no idea. The guy that had his arm broken was very calm, and didn't even look hurt. He may have been wasted, but I think if your arm was really broken you would at least say 'Ow.' All he said was 'call an ambulance. My arm is broken. 'An ambulance showed up, the guy with the broken arm left, and the guy's fat girlfriend was drinking all the leftover shots that she bought once the guy broke his arm. I was standing talking to the gay guy the rest of the night because I didn't want to be associated or near any of the friends of the guy that broke his arm. They were lucky I was DD, because I know I would've been yelling at everyone if I wasn't. No, Ryan didn't give out any of his information, and no one in the bar knew what was going on except the people in our corner.

Ryan kept saying "I am an animal." All his friends are scared of the arm-breaker now.

Welcome back, Kotter

Well, there must be something wrong with my computer at home because I'm at the community college and I logged in with ease. Maybe I can't login at home because of a pop up blocker or something..

Anyway, I'm ok. Not much has really been going on. It snowed today, but I still have class. I don't know who will show up, but if no one shows up after an hour, I'm leaving. It is Wednesday after all. :) The only bad thing is that Ryan doesn't get home until 10 from his classes, and he never leaves early. He's such a nerd. HA!!HA!!

At work, the guy that sits in the office next to me has been hacking his phlegm up all day. He never spits it out, and he continues to swallow it, so it is totally grating on mine and my neighbor's nerves. He has an office. I wish he would close the door. It's SOOOO disgusting.

I watched part of American Idol for the second time this year. I watched the girls perform a couple weeks ago at Dr. Heather's house. She made me watch it, I swear! Last night I saw 3 guys perform and they really weren't that good. I'm surprised, although that's what everyone has been saying since the beginning. I can listen to the radio and hear the updates. I don't need to watch.

blab blab blab, I am really rambling. I'm going to see if I can get my computer to log me in. Otherwise, I'm going to have to post from the college all the time, and that will suck. I'll have to keep a running tab of things I want to write about.

Oh, I'm getting my taxes done tomorrow. FINALLY! I have never waited this long, and I need the $$. Well, you know I don't really, but it will be nice to finally pay off the windows that I bought last October.

Also, Ryan's neighbor (who is also named Ryan, and the same age as Ryan) is selling his house. I need some rental property. hee hee. His neighbor said "Is 260,000 in your price range?" I didn't want to ask him if he was crazy, so I said "Well, I haven't thought much about it, but if you are really planning on selling it, let me know." He's out of his durn mind. hee hee.

The Meanest Thing

Remember Kate from this story (crap! I can't post the links like I used to). Remember how I do not like her? http://youjustliveinit.blogspot.com/2007/02/two-sides-of-me.html

Well, as you know, the whole crew went to see Robert Lighthouse at the bar last Saturday. I was not feeling good because I had a slight operator error with my Nuvaring, and I wasn't feeling crampy as I should, so that put me in an even worse mood. By 1:00, I was feeling crampy, which meant, I was happy. I did one shot of Soco and lime, and was dancing all around. It was a fun night. I digress. So we get back to Ryan's house, and I see Kate's overnight bag on the floor in the living room. Everyone was getting ready to head back to Frederick (about 40 minutes away), and I said to one of Ryan's drunk friends 'Oh, Tina (a girl from Frederick who wasn't able to make it this time around) left this last time she was here. Can you take it back with you and give it to her?' He said 'Oh, Tina left this? I will take it back to Frederick.' Zach (the guy in the Ravens picture from a while back) was listening and he was quietly laughing. The drunk friend said "Why did Tina leave this here?" I said 'Well, she was drunk the morning she left, but she called and reminded us to send it home with one of you guys.' He was like 'Then, yes, I will take it.' We continued this conversation for about 5 more minutes, when all of a sudden, Ryan's brother comes out of nowhere. He says 'What are you doing? That's not Tina's bag, that's Kate's bag!' and he grabbed it and set it on the floor. I ran outside because I didn't want Kate to show up and look at me, nor did I want Ryan's brother asking me why I said that it was Tina's. HA!!HA!! I'm the worst! How funny would it have been if they had taken it to Frederick? I would've been laughing hysterically.

That would've been another secret for another lifetime. Zach gave me a high five after I went back inside because he is usually the instigator of the crew. He hearts me. I told you I was only a little bit mean. *wink*

Purse Shopping and Borat

I'm ready to buy another purse. I looked at the website today, and there are so many choices. Of course, my choices include almost all the purses without the words DB, Dooney, or Bourke on them. I currently have the mini tassle in black leather, but I think it's time for me to get a brown purse. Yes, I only have one pair of brown shoes that I never wear, so no, I won't match, and no, I don't care. Does a brown belt count? hee hee.

I get paid tomorrow, so I think I'll swing by the mall on my way home so I can actually touch the purses in real life, and I will make a decision next week, most likely. It takes me forever to actually buy something. But...I get paid for teaching next week, so that's really where the money is coming from. I think I can hold my horses for one more week.

Saturday morning I'm going to see "Wild Hogs." I'm meeting up with some of the Motor Maids (my women's motorcycle group), and we're making a day of it. Two of the women have birthdays in March, so we will be celebrating their birthday as well. I'm excited. I haven't been to the theater since Borat, so I think it's about time. Speaking of Borat, how hot is Sascha Baron Cohen? I saw him first at the Golden Globes, and I thought 'It must be a fluke. Borat can't look that good.' Then I saw him again walking the runway at the Oscars, and I knew it was love. hee hee. Ryan thinks I'm crazy for liking him, but man-o-man. HA! I also asked Ryan if he thinks Borat is taller than he is. Ryan is 6'4, so you don't run across people taller than him on a daily basis. I think that might have touched a nerve. Of course he said 'no way.'

I'm so ready for this weekend. I've actually worked hard all week. Honest.

Daddy as Guest Speaker-Take Two

So Daddy came to class today to give everyone a lesson on taxes. He was so excited to meet everyone (although no one had their tax stuff).
He had some 1040EZ forms to give out, and I passed out the MD state forms. We did two examples and the students were really excited. They asked lots of informative questions, and I gave them some tax related homework. You know how the tax forms say Add Lines 2 and 4, subtract Line 10 from 11. He called on them, and they had to answer. It fit in perfectly with our subtraction with borrowing lesson.
Overall, I think he was pleased with how it went, and I was pleased too. He was sad that I let them out at 8:50. The other classes were still in session and he said 'Why did you let them out so early?' I said "Daddy, one girl has to take the bus, and you gave out a lot of information. Everyone needs a break every once in a while.' He said 'Oh, I guess.'I wish he could present something else, but we'll see how the schedule goes, and maybe he can talk about his past math-related job or something. He gave a presentation to my honors class in 5th grade, where he gave out maps of the earth from space, and other odds and ends. People love him, and so do I.

Daddy as Guest Speaker

Why must I make a commment before I am able to post on my own blog? I guess that's the secret code now, and I have really figured it out. How very frustrating!! I'm posting, like three posts in a row because I had all this stuff on backlog from last week. Enjoy.

I'm such a nerd. My class starts in 45 minutes and I'm sitting in the homework lab blogging about my class.
My dad is the guest speaker today and he's going to help all of us (minus me) do our taxes. On the pretest there was a tax form, and the purpose was to fill out portions of the tax form using math skills. The students seemed really excited when I told them that my dad was coming in to show them how, but we'll see how it goes. They will probably forget their W-2s. I almost called them to remind them, but then I thought 'They're supposed to be adults and responsible enough to remember their stuff.' I'll let you know how many actually remember.

I went to see Robert Lighthouse on Saturday. He's a blues player and he played at a local bar. He was awesome! The venue was small, and there were probably only about 30 people in the place, total. Of course, 15 were Ryan's friends, but it was so much fun. We got to talk to Robert and his band members, and everyone had a really great time. He sounds a lot like Jimi Hendrix, which was cool too. I danced to Foxy Lady. hee hee. All I kept thinking about during that song was in Wayne's World, when Wayne and Garth put their fingers over their heads and say "Foxy." My brother and I used to do that all the time, so when I was dancing I kept wanting to do that, but I restrained myself. HA!!HA!!

I almost forgot. I also went to a Mardi Gras party on Saturday. As soon as I pulled up to the girl's house, guess whose car I saw? Right...Ed's. I almost didn't go in, but I was having a sort of 'this is your life' reunion with my sister's best friend from high school whom she no longer sees. So, I had to go in and talk to the friend, at a minimum. I was so close to leaving without even going in. Anyway, the friend is good. She's getting married in September (I think), and her husband is very feminine. I said that I liked her ring and her response was 'Thanks. 2 carats, colorless.' I'm like 'Who cares? Your parents are jewelers. I'm sure they gave your restaurant manager husband a great deal, so shut it.' hee hee. I just said 'oh, it's nice.' I hope she calls my sister. I don't know that they have that much in common anymore, but she wasn't my friend, so I don't know what they had in common back in the day.

What else...um..watched the red carpet stuff on E! I love Reese Witherspoon. She's so pretty. I thought she, Beyonce and Tracy Edmunds (Eddie Murphy's gf) looked the best, even though I only saw maybe 20 people. I have a short attention span when it comes to watching tv these days, so I didn't stay focused on that show for too long.
