Daddy as Guest Speaker-Take Two
So Daddy came to class today to give everyone a lesson on taxes. He was so excited to meet everyone (although no one had their tax stuff).
He had some 1040EZ forms to give out, and I passed out the MD state forms. We did two examples and the students were really excited. They asked lots of informative questions, and I gave them some tax related homework. You know how the tax forms say Add Lines 2 and 4, subtract Line 10 from 11. He called on them, and they had to answer. It fit in perfectly with our subtraction with borrowing lesson.
Overall, I think he was pleased with how it went, and I was pleased too. He was sad that I let them out at 8:50. The other classes were still in session and he said 'Why did you let them out so early?' I said "Daddy, one girl has to take the bus, and you gave out a lot of information. Everyone needs a break every once in a while.' He said 'Oh, I guess.'I wish he could present something else, but we'll see how the schedule goes, and maybe he can talk about his past math-related job or something. He gave a presentation to my honors class in 5th grade, where he gave out maps of the earth from space, and other odds and ends. People love him, and so do I.
