Do Your Job, Please!!

I went by the mall today to look for some new jeans. My jeans are totally getting too small for me. Unfortunately all the jeans are the stretchy, low cut, no pockets, show off your butt style, so I wasn't a happy camper.

Then..I spot some Levi's in the corner of my eye. I used to wear levis back in the day because I could get my measurements. Now, they're made in China or somewhere overseas, and they just aren't the same, but I figured I'd give them a try.

Well, much to my surprise, I found three pairs in three different colors that fit. They are a little low, but not too low, and they are stretchy, but not that obvious stretchy. AND..they have pockets. Girls with big butts need pockets. Girls without butts where the kind with no pockets because it makes their butts look bigger.

So I get to the checkout and tell the lady that I'm so happy I found some jeans that fit me. Well, had I known she was going to talk my ear off, I wouldn't have said anything. I buy my jeans and head home. As soon as I got home to try on the jeans again, I realize the dye pack is still on 2/3 pairs of my jeans. If that lady had been doing her job and paying attention to ringing up my purchases instead of blabbing, I wouldn't have to go back to the store. Now..I'm scared to try to pull the tag off because it said the dye may stain my pants or cause injury. Yikes!

Since I'm such a dirtmirt, I could care less about the dye, I just don't want to get hurt. I wish I could call the store and say 'that stupid lady left the dye pack on my jeans. Can you please tell me how to get it off without coming back in?' And the people in the store will say 'sorry, ma'am. did you steal them? You have to bring them back in so we can use our fancy machine and see your receipt' I'm not happy, and I hate those dye packs. Does anyone need anything while I'm out?

Quiz Time for Me.

I stole this from Grace who stole it from someone else, I believe. I was tired last night, so I got to the good stuff.

1) WHAT IS THE GEEKIEST PART OF YOUR BOOK COLLECTION?

I think I have a book by some news reporter. I got it for free, so why not keep it?

2) WHAT DID YOU DO ON VALENTINE'S DAY?

Went out to eat, got drunk off sangria.

3) WHAT DID YOU GET ON VALENTINE'S DAY?

Some beautiful earrings, and drunk off sangria. hee hee.

4) WHAT IS YOUR SECRET GUARANTEED WEEPING MOVIE?

I can never remember what movies make me cry. I know I cried at the end of Ice Age.

5) IF YOU COULD HAVE PLASTIC SURGERY, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?

Maybe I'd have my left eye opened. It shuts a little since I had bells palsy. Is that plastic surgery? I have no idea.

6) DO YOU HAVE A COMPLETELY IRRATIONAL FEAR?

It's probably my whole being poor thing.

7) WHAT IS THE LITTLE PHYSICAL HABIT THAT GIVES AWAY YOUR INSECURE MOMENTS?

I don't think I'm often insecure, so I don't know the answer. Maybe laughing?

8) DO YOU KNOW ANYONE FAMOUS?

No. What about a friend of a friend. My old neighbor is married to an NFL player.

9) WHAT DO YOU CARRY WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES?

Dental floss.

10) WHAT DO YOU MISS ABOUT BEING A KID?

I miss playing all the time-riding bikes, building forts, running races.

This weekend I listened to 'best of the 90s' on WHFS. There were some awesome songs, but I'm forgetting them now. It's rock/alternative music.

13) HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE?

Yes.

14) DO YOU LIKE YOURSELF AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF?

YES!

15) DO TRANSIENT, HOMELESS, OR STARVING PEOPLE SOMETIMES ANNOY YOU?

Yes. This weekend Ed gave out bags of clothes to homeless people we saw on the streets. I got mad when they weren't excited to look in the bag and just sat it down next to them. If I got a gift, I'd open it right away! Fakers. I know they had an SUV around the corner.

16) WHICH MUSICAL INSTRUMENT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD PLAY?

Trumpet. Really I just want someone to play the trumpet to me. Like a serenade. aahh.

Yup.

23) FAVORITE TRAIT OF THE OPPOSITE SEX

Nice teeth and gums, kind eyes.

24) MOST FRIVOLOUS PURCHASE?

This is a hard one for me because I don't shop as it is. I'll think on it.

Nope.

Watch Judge Judy, read.

I'm a giver, generally, but if food is involved, I'm a taker.

33) WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?

I think it was in September after my friends wedding. I was drunk and pretty frustrated. I think I cried because I didn't want to go home. HA!!HA!!

34) HOW MANY DRINKS BEFORE YOU'RE TIPSY/SLEEPY?

I've never been sleepy when drinking. Tipsy, I would say 5 beers if I'm in a casual setting. More if I'm hanging out.

35) WOULD YOU EVER SHAVE YOUR HEAD BALD? (I added this one for laughs)

Yes I would. I had really short hair in college, so bald isn't that big of a deal.

Voila, It's That Time Again

I just realized that the last time I was in a little slump was at the end of January, so I guess it's just that time for me again. Hey..time for my slump-nothing else!

I have this book called 'The Secret Language of Birthdays' and it's a really cool horoscope type book, but it dedicates two pages to every day of the year to describe you, your personality type, etc.. It also has your numbers and tarot cards, a meditation statement and some advice. If you want additional information it has general stuff on your zodiac sign, your element (earth, water, fire, air), and maybe some other stuff that I can't recall. I am not big into horoscopes, but when I read the section on me, I figured I had to buy the book. It was so perfect and so true about me it was kind of scary.

Whenever I read this book, it tells me that once in my life I should just leave all my attachments. Then, of course, I start thinking about leaving. Considering my dad was in the military, I have left all my attachments plenty of times, so you would think that feeling of leaving everything is already fulfilled, but it's not. The book says I love my freedom and I want to just go go go. I honestly do. If I could go to my house right now, get the bird-dog and a bike trailer, I would go. I don't know where, but maybe I would just travel around until I find someplace I like. Oh, if things could be that easy, I would be a happy girl.

Yesterday, my coworker and I were also talking about our company getting shut down. All these rumors are just spreading around (like that's anything new) and we were thinking that if we did get shut down, maybe we'd get like 2 months severance pay or something like that. I think that would be the answer to my prayers. I have my rainy day fund. I could live off the severance pay and then when the two months are up, I will start looking for a new job and use my rainy day money in the meantime.
I better start praying. It's almost spring!

Victoria's Secret Bra

I bought a strapless bra from Victoria's secret a year or two ago so that I could wear my cute tank tops but still have coverage from tuning into Tokyo at all times. Well, I love that bra. So, the day of my shopping spree I bought two more strapless/convertible bras. The lady was asking me 'well, is it the body collection or this collection?' I said 'uh..I think it looks like this. It has the rubber stuff around the cup.' That's a voice of an idiot because I have no idea. All I know is it stays up when I run and jump, and it's beige. (I don't know why the heck I bought a beige bra). Anyway, so I bought black and white the other day to complete the collection.

Today is the first time I'm wearing the new bra and I have the straps still on (I'm wearing a pretty new pink sweater). Well this bra is making me feel like the models in the old 'Cross your heart' commercials with the perfect tits. I feel like I have an instant boob job and my tits are pushed all the way up to my face. I'm sure I look normal, but I really feel constricted. I can't wait to get home and take this thing off. Perhaps I'm used to my other bras that just kind of let me hang with a little support, but holy jeez. My bras aren't that old. I just feel like I'm up up and away.

Now, I'll have to wear this into the store the next time I go bra shopping so I can tell the lady exactly what I have. Why do they have to keep changing bras all the time in that store. Maybe 3 different bra types is enough, and you just have the demi (half coverage boys), the full coverage, the padded and non padded and then you're all set. Who needs angels, body, perfect boob and flopalot? No one needs that many different types of bras. *sigh* c'mon 3:30.

My Audio Blog

I'm too much of an anti-voicemail girl to post my own audioblog, so YB let me talk to myself on his. I'm a goof. I started laughing as soon as I started, and I didn't know what to say. I almost lied to Egghe. HA!!HA!!

Anyway, if you want to hear my hyena laugh and my squeaky mouse voice, head over to Yankeebob's blog.

Today's Funny

Ed and I were running errands yesterday and this is what he said at one point

'The definition of hell is waiting in line to get into Chuck E. Cheeses.'

There was an actual line around 2pm yesterday. Crazy, huh?
What a nightmare.

Half Day for me. Woohoo!!

This concept hasn't gone over well at my company. Paperwork gets lost all the time, brain cells get lost, and I wish my coworkers would get lost. Is that too much to ask?

I keep good track of the documents that come into and leave my desk. I use the notes feature on Microsoft outlook and when something is routing, the note is yellow. Once something is completely signed off and put in document control, I change the note color to blue. Simple, but effective. I put the date I passed it to the next person, and who has it next, etc..

This morning I get a call from a guy in doc. control asking me to fill out the proper filing paperwork. Well, if I turned it in, I would've filled out the paperwork. Unfortunately, the big, big boss probably thought he was doing me a favor by taking it over himself instead of returning it to me. I sent him an email asking him to return MY documents to me. I said Doc. Control always loses things and I like to track the documents as they come and go. No response of course. I filled out the paperwork and went on my merry way.

Not one hour later, the little boss asks me for a document. I tell her that the big big boss has it and he's had it since Feb. 08. She tells me to go find it, so I head to the big guy's office and ask him where my document is. He says with a smile 'well, I probably took it over to document control.' I told him that it wasn't funny and that I track everything and if he takes things directly to document control he either needs to tell me about it or just return it to me. I told him to look again on his desk and if he finds it let me know. I don't have time to look for documents that I didn't lose. I'm done working for today, and I doubt anyone will ever find that document. People here suck.

When I was little my dad always said 'If you use something, put it back when you're done with it, so you can find it the next time.' Well, what great words to live by, and that's what I do. I get so frustrated when things aren't where they belong or people have misplaced things because they're idiots. One day maybe someone here will realize I'm always right. Then they wonder why I don't want to be friendly and nice to them? I'm not friendly and nice to people I can't stand. Sorry, it's just not my nature.

Chili Cook Off Day

My February has been filled with a lot of high points so far. I love February!! Today at work is the social committee's chili cook off. YB and Spacebrain are participating-may the best chili chef win!! I'm really excited to get upstairs and try everyone's chili, but with all the greedy guts at my work I probably won't get to try them all.

My contribution today is three large containers of sour cream and I brought some spoons. I had a jumbo pack of plasticware from Sam's Club (BJ's, Costco, Price Club), and I will never use them, so I donated them for the cause. It's enough of a donation for me to eat free chili. One girl said she's bringing bean-o. I'm curious to see if she was being honest.

One bad thing is that Senior Management is voting at 11:30, and then the rest of the peons get to eat at 12. I don't know why they aren't doing a people's choice vote. Our Senior Management makes such bad decisions all the time that the chili they pick collectively probably won't even be the best. They are such morons. I love how they can't fight for the chili and pretend they are "at one with the people" at noon, but get their own private tasting. THey really get on my nerves and I hope they're gone when I get up there.

One of my coworkers suggested making chili and peeing in it, and although that is really disgusting, I would crack up if I saw the head honchos eating it. He didn't make it though, unfortunately. That would be one point for the little people.

Time to go!!

Taxes Update

Well, things went well yesterday. My dad's typing is really improving and he was happy to hear me compliment him. He still asked me why I haven't found a church to go to (groan), but he was pleased with the amount that I have given to charity. I still have work to do in the charity department, but this year I gave to five different charities instead of three last year. He said I can deduct about 1/2 of my income if I gave it to charities. I'm kind, but not that kind. I need to save for my future, but I'll give what I can.

I ended up getting about 1500 from the feds and 500 from the state. Maybe you're not supposed to talk about how much money you get back, but I'll share anyway. That's lower than last year, so I'm doing something right. I had a 2 on my tax statement this year and last year I had a 1, so I think adding that extra deduction or whatever those numbers mean, helped.

Once my dad finished doing my taxes he wanted to shake my hand like I was a regular walk-in customer. I shook his hand and then hugged him. My dad is too cute. I'll have to find a picture of him so you can see what he looks like. He's always smiling (I guess I get that from him). I think I'll get my money by the end of the month. Just in time to pay my credit card bills from my shopping spree. YAY!!!

Taxes Today

I have received all my tax information and today I'm going to see my dad and get my taxes filed. My dad has a part time job at H&R Block. He's retired and decided that he would like to do taxes in his spare time. Why? I'm not sure. I really think he just likes using the computer and talking to new people. He is very friendly and likes to impart his ways of the world and knowledge with those that haven't had as many experiences as he has. I think I take after him in that respect. I may have a face that looks serious and mean, but once someone talks to me, I'm always pleasant (well, 90% of the time).

I'm excited to see my dad, but I'm not excited about seeing how much money I'll have to pay the government. I think this year I finally filled out my forms the right way so that I won't be getting thousands back, but I might have to pay. Last year I think I owed the state a few dollars and I received a good amount from the feds. We'll see what happens this year. My dad is weird when he's talking to me about my taxes. He gets mad that I don't give any money to church, and then he gets mad when I get a lot of money back because it's not good. You should be able to figure out your taxes so that there is neither a refund nor a payment due. Of course, that's in a perfect world, and not where we live. I do give to charity and I do give to goodwill. I usually get some of the college interest loan credit back and I think I get some other credits, but I can't recall them now.

The best thing about getting your taxes done is that if you are getting a refund, and you do the e-file/direct deposit, you get your money in a couple days. If I owe, I don't have to pay until April, and they can take the payment automtically. I think that's great. C'mon big money, big money *clap clap clap*(I love game shows!).

Happy Valentine's Day!!

My Valentine's Day turned out great! First thing in the morning, YB gave me some sweetart hearts with sayings on them. He wrote my name on the box and put a heart with an arrow on it. Too cute! Those make me hot (sweat hot), but I love them, so I ate the whole box anyway, and sat here sweating for a few mintues afterwards. It was well worth it. :)

My other coworker gave me a red pen with a heart and some feathers on it. The heart lights up when you press down on the pen. It has black ink, so I can use it at work. It was very thoughtful of her.

Once work was over, I rushed home and got ready for dinner. All day, it was rainy and gross so I ended up wearing one of my other dresses that I've had for a long time. I knew I would freeze if I wore one of my new dresses. So, Ed and I get dressed, and we head to the restaurant, get valet parking, blah blah. The host sat us at the very back of the restaurant right by a door. I'm not sure if the door went outside or not, but it was draf-ty! Ed suggested we switch seats so it's not so cold for me. We did. Then, he realized that the entire waitstaff would be walking back and forth past us, so we asked if we could change tables. We did. Then, Ed couldn't read the menu, so we had to switch seats again. Now we have warmth and light. Perfect.

We both had seafood bisque, Ed had oysters with crabmeat and cheese on the halfshell, I had a filet with bernaise sauce that was HUGE. I've never seen such a big filet. I think the cow was addicted to miracle-gro. Ed had a 303 combination, which was lobster, crab and one other seafood mixed together and then placed back in the lobster with a champagne sauce. Both of our meals came with green beans and some squash mix (blech!). We also had sangria (mm..mmm), and I got a peach shortcake for dessert. I overdid it on the sangria, and Ed dropped a piece of bread with oysters and cheese on the floor and on his shoes/jacket, but it was well worth it.

Ed did get me a gift. YAY!! He bought me flowers on Saturday (red, pink and white carnations), and yesterday he gave me round emerald earrings with diamonds around the outside. They are really nice. I hope I don't lose them. I gave him a white gold ring with a sapphire across the top and two diamonds on opposing sides of the sapphire. Very classy and understated. He was in shock. I'm glad I gave it to him.

I had an awesome Valentine's Day with my valentine. Next year, we're getting the small pitcher of sangria. :)

Recruiters

I don't know what a lot of you have as jobs, but in my industry, jobs and recruiters change as fast as the weather. My company is constantly hiring/firing people and the neighbor companies are doing the same.

Just now, a recruiter called me about a job somewhere in MD. Supposedly a person who used to work here is now looking for someone else from here to work there. I don't know how they got my number but I hate talking to recruiters at work. I'm always keeping my ears open about jobs, but there is something very bad about recruiters calling me. I can't whisper. If I try I'm either too loud, or I'm not talking at all, just moving my lips. In my cube farm, everyone that is at their desk can hear me talking to this man, trying to be secretive, but wanting to get as much information as possible.

It's always good to have a recruiter's name just in case something bad happens, but why do they have to call me at work? That double ring is always a nightmare for me, but I think I got the info, and I'll e-mail the guy later to see what kind of opportunities he has available.

In the meantime, I'm back to resizing my picture.

My Picture with Russell Mitchell

This is a test. Whoa..this is really big (don't look at my messy hair). Everything's fixed now. Cool. Click on it if you want a close-up.

Two Things Minus One

Good morning!
Ed, Rob (Ed's buddy) and I went to the bike show in Timonium yesterday. It cost 10 bucks and was pretty cool. They had a people's choice bike show, and regular people could show off their bikes. I voted for this black and white chopper one, that just called my name. I should have asked the owner if I could sit on it, but didn't. There were old bikes, new bikes, purple bikes, blue bikes. hee hee. Just call me Dr. Seuss. He was hot for me when he was alive, btw. HA!

Russell Mitchell of exile cycles was also there. There was a little line of maybe 3 people, but I think a lot of people didn't realize he was there. YAY for me. He had some tshirts and belt buckles that you could buy, but I just got in line and when I saw him I said 'I didn't buy anything, but would you mind having your picture taken with me?' He said, with his British accent and gorgeous smile 'No, not at all.' He practically grabbed me in a bear hug around my waist and both of us were all smiles. I wanted to say 'Back off Rusty, I'm taken!', but I didn't. he he he (evil laugh) So I got my picture taken with him and told him that when I see his bikes on the Discovery Channel, I always vote for his from my couch. He started laughing. He wanted me!

Now I'm all hot and bothered and don't remember what else I was going to say. Oh well. I'll update again from work.

Um..Is this really good for me?

I think Immodium AD can't be good for me.
The End.
HA!!HA!!

The Lost Backpack

I wrote this story last May. It went into my chapters ABATE newsletter. ABATE is a motorcycle rights group and they have a section called 'The Women's Corner' and I submitted this story. This is a day in my life.

Monday, 5pm, 91 degrees.
My alarm goes off, and it's time for me to head to class. I put my books in my backpack, note that my American motorcyclist is in there, along with some old paystubs and my registration info for ROT. My purse is in there, unzipped, with my cell phone, and other stupid stuff that goes in a purse. I throw my wallet in the main section too, since I won't be needing that until I get to class to get some water out of the machine. Strap my backpack on the back of my bike and head to class. Uneventful as usual. I get onto the highway and about 5 miles down the road, and I feel something hit my back. I'm flying in the left lane, turn around and there is my backpack on the highway getting hit left and right by car after car after car. I get off at the next exit, and get back on the highway heading the other way. I loop around to see if I can find my backpack. Oh, there it is, right where I turned around in the left shoulder. At least it's safe and no cars are hitting it anymore. Now the question is, how am I gonna get it. It's rush hour, and there are a million cars. Lucky for me, they are widening the highway so there are construction crews on the right hand side. I get off at the same exit as before, loop around and pull over on the side of the road. I talk to some Mexican guys who have no idea what I said but told me to walk up to the next group of guys. Here I am in my chaps, bandanna, sunglasses walking up the dirt road to see the construction guys (yes, people were honking. hee hee). I find an English speaker and tell him my predicament. He takes down my number and says if he picks it up, he'll give me a call. In the meantime, I figure I can get my bag before he can. I ride down the highway looking for another turnoff place where maybe I can pull over, run across the road and get my bag. It's not looking good. I loop around again, and realize there is a construction entrance off the OTHER side of my bag. If I can just get in that middle section, I can grab my bag. Well, considering it's rush hour, and there isn't enough room to make the stop, I try twice, and nothing doing. So, I think of option 10. HA!!HA!!
I pull off on the right side, past where the English speaker (Ben) was, but closer to my bag. I run into two more workers and they ask me if I need a ride, or what can they do to help me. I tell them that I gave Ben my number, and he will call me when he gets my bag. The driver of the truck says 'follow me, I'll lead you to the barrels where you can go into the median section. Great I think, although he has me follow him down the dirt road (my bike is now an offroader!), and around the loop again. He doesn't make it to the left lane in time, but he's done working (and so is Ben apparently), so he tells me to loop around and try it again. No luck. So I pull to the right side, again and walk up to where I am 3 lanes from my bag. I feel like I'm about to be a human frogger on the highway. It's now gotten cooler, and traffic has slowed, but there is still NO WAY I'm getting to my bag. The shoulder was so small over there, that if I made it across, I'd have to do some crazy orangutan jump over the wall just to be safe, and then I still have to get back to the other side. Well...what do you know..here comes another construction worker..

I ask him what time it is (7pm). This guy is chewing tobacco AND smoking a cigarette. He tells me that a policeman is coming soon to block off traffic, but he'll send his buddy under the bridge to get my backpack in the meantime. Fine, great. I'm talking to JR, while Ian runs across the street. He's asking me if I have money in my bag, whether there is weed in there, and that I owe them lunch, but I can flash them and call it even. I tell him he must be kidding me. I'm not flashing along the main highway just so I can get my bag back (although at this point it might be worth it!).
Ian grabs my bag and the main compartment has my one winter glove in it. He asks if I had a purse, and grabs that and my other glove off a grate. My school books and those other papers are completely gone. My wallet is completely gone as well. JR tells me that he and Ian are gonna give me a ride back to my bike in their construction truck. Robin (the forelady) says that they are ok, and I know who they're with if I never make it back to my bike. :) Ian returns the backpack to me, and my cell phone is still inside my purse but crunched to a million pieces. I had white-out in my bag, and it got smashed, and my backpack used to be green, but now it's white. Everything inside the middle section is white, and smashed (except my checkbook). I get back to my bike, and I see loose papers all over the highway and near me. So much for my notes for class. I saw and recognized a geico insurance paper from the magazine. I finally return home and realize I had put 30 miles on the bike from all the loops that I did. Not bad...

I made it home at 7:45 and the temp was 85 degrees. I'm happy to be home safe and alive. All the other stuff can be replaced, although I'm dreading going to the DMV/MVA tomorrow to get a new license.

Lesson learned: clean out your purse and backpack of all the stupid stuff that you don't really need before trekking down the road, and make sure everything is strapped on safely. Oh, Sprint PCS only accepts credit cards/debit cards, so make sure you have one at home in case you lose your phone along with your cards/licenses etc...If anyone would like to contribute to my fund, I'm short 40$, so send me an email, and I'll send you my address.

Thanks for listening to my story. I didn't end up going to class. It was too trying of an afternoon.

WAAHH!! Unbelievable

I was just reading blogs today (won't mention names) and someone said that I'm boring. Although they did say it's not a bad thing, I'm hurt and offended. Just kidding. I'm not offended at all.

If you guys knew me in real life, I don't think I would make the boring list at all. I love telling stories about my life or things that happened to me, and I think I'm pretty good at it. Most of the stories are good ones, so I'm usually laughing when I tell them, and as some of you know, my laugh is like a hyena. It's sounds like the word gulp with an h in front of it. Like -ahulp, but high pitched and in giggle form. My laugh comes from my stomach. Some say it sounds like goofy and others say it sounds like Tom or Jerry. I don't know how Tom/Jerry laugh though. Others say it's like a little mouse. I can't describe it.

In a sense I think I could be boring just because I don't have a lot of friends that I keep in contact with on a regular basis. I talk to my online motorcycle friends a lot, and just listen to their dramas and frustrations, but I really don't have many of my own. My parents are not divorced, my sisters are strange but not strange enough to write about. My bird-dog is too smart for her own good, but nothing is dramatic about that, Ed is fine. The only drama is work and I don't even like to stress over that, so..yes, I'm pretty boring. hee hee.

Maybe I'll make up a secret to tell someone and see if they tell it. Hmm..I'm so boring I don't even know how to make up a good secret. Maybe I'll tell someone I have a severe case of OCD. Is that a good secret? hee hee. I'm seriously fresh out of ideas.

I'll tell a good story later.

Sleep Little Baby

After I got home from the show, I decided to watch the Season Finale of the Amazing Race. It was a two hour special and Freddy and Kendra ended up winning. I wanted Kris and Jon, but I'll live. I didn't end up going to bed until 1:30 or 1:45, and I don't remember specifically setting my alarm. My bed is so perfect for me that as soon as I get in, I'm dead asleep. Sometimes I try to kid myself and turn on the tv, but as soon as the scene changes, the tv is off and I'm asleep.

I woke up this morning at 8:53a and I'm supposed to be at work at 7am. I jumped out of bed and called the little boss telling her that I overslept and I'll be right in.
As soon as I got to work (around 9:15 or 9:20) there was an email from the little boss saying 'next time you're going to be late, call me and let me know.' WTF? True she sent it to me at 8:22, but if I knew I was going to be late, I would've told her yesterday, don't you think? Sheesh!

The King and I

Ed and I went to see The King and I last night at the theatre. It was amazing! The costumes, the story and the singing were the best I had ever seen. I didn't know the story so I was going in just to enjoy the show. I had heard rave reviews about it, but I seriously had no idea how great it was going to be. Stephanie Powers did a fantastic job, and the schoolchildren were adorable. There was one black princess (or wife of the King or whatever). I thought that was kind of funny.

Here's a funny. Ed and I were the last ones in our row to get into our seats. We usually like to get a beer beforehand and walk around and look at the decorations around the theatre or look at the old pictures and programs. Well, we got to our row and there was a really fat couple sitting on the end, and there were four empty seats and two ladies at the other end. The usher was standing with us, and Ed said 'maybe we should go around.' I said that we were going to have to cross two people anyway, so why not just go in here. Well, everyone is at a standstill staring at each other basically. I finally said 'excuse me' and made the fat people get up. For them, I guess it's the worse thing that ever happened because they were huffing and puffing and trying to get out of the seat. Aahh..sitting at last. At intermission we crossed the ladies to our right.

Oh, before we left for the show, I made dinner. I don't make dinner often but yesterday was a special occasion. I got a recipe off TVFN (TV food network) for Italian meatloaf. It was SO good. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know. I have never chosen a bad recipe from that website. The meatloaf finished cooking just in time (6:45). I also had mixed vegetables and crescent rolls. I'm not the biggest fan of meatloaf but every once in a while I want it, and last night was the night.

And yes..I looked AWESOME! It's so nice going somewhere and being dressed appropriately. I mean, I am usually dressed appropriately, but I was happy to be able to kick it up a notch, and really look and feel like I belonged. Come springtime they will be seeing me in chaps and a leather jacket when Ed and I ride in. :) It's the only way to go as far as parking.

Success At Last!

I've figured out the key to shopping. Go on a Monday evening. Last night when I went to the mall, I was able to park in the first parking spot next to the store. I got there around 6:30. No one was there! I went into the first store, and of course, I started getting a little nervous. I had to find the directory to see where my section was located. Ahh..it's upstairs. I went upstairs and immediately saw a rack of dresses. I browsed through them and picked out three that I liked. The lady offered to start me a dressing room and I continued shopping. I saw some sweaters on a clearance rack and figured I'd try those on too. Well, the sweaters fit like a charm and one dress was cute but it had a pucker in it and a red arrow on the pucker. I prayed that they had another one in my size and they did. Luck was with me! I bought the dress and the two sweaters and was on my way to the next store.

I went to Bebe, and they had a ton of clearance stuff, but most of their clothes are tank tops with that raggedy edge to them. I don't like raggedy, but I do like tank tops in the summer (say for riding), but I get so cold any other time that I can't really wear tank tops. They did have some cute ones, but I'm not the cute girl, so I had to pass on those. I ended up buying a fuzzy, yellow sweater. I got fuzzy socks for Christmas, so it's a match. The girl there wanted to put my name on the mailing list, but I told her I wasn't interested.

Next I went to Ann Taylor to see what they have. Their stuff is a little older, but every now and again they have stuff that I like. It's hit or miss for me. Well, I seriously hit the jackpot. All of their nice dresses were on sale for at least 50% off. Since no one was in the store, the lady and I picked out a lot of dresses and we were both trying them on. I ended up buying 4 dresses for 50 bucks a piece. You can't beat that when the start prices were all about 200 or 189 or whatever it is. Two are strapless black dresses, one has a beaded middle and skinny straps, and one is pink/mauve with a gold lace sheath on top and a sheer pink skirt underneath. It kind of has that ragged edge, but it's an even ragged. It doesn't look like it got caught in the escalator! The salesgirl is a seamstress so she was giving me hints about cinching the top of the strapless dresses so they fit better. I thought that was really nice of her.

Next stop-Victoria's secret. Usually when I go to the mall, I end up buying 5 pairs of panties for 25 and that's it. Today I needed to have some self control. I ended up buying two strapless/convertible bras because who knows when I will get back to the mall. Can you tell I'm so happy with shopping?

Finally, I had to get shoes. It was 8:30 and the mall closed at 9:30. I usually have trouble buying shoes so I figured an hour would give me enough time to try on as many styles as I could with hopes that maybe one or two would fit. Again, I hit the jackpot. I bought one pair of gold stripper shoes (like a clog) to match the black dresses and spice things up a bit. I bought a pair of slingbacks with that really point toe and a penny loafer tassle mixed with an allligator skin front. Cute cute. Those also have a heel, but not as big as the gold stripper shoes. Then I bought a pair of heels with the alligator skin again but they have a scalloped heel and a big square rhinestone on the top. It's cute too. The heel is REALLY high. Those will probably hurt my feet, but they are must haves for my outfits.

I can't believe how much fun I had yesterday in the mall. I got a lot of shopping done and now I can look like a star at the theatre. Oh yeah, my credit card company called me to ask if I was really the one making purchases. They know my spending habits and they know I don't spend a lot EVER, so I'm glad (kind of) that they were looking out for me. I'll try to take pics sometime this week and get them posted so you can see what the dresses look like. :)

What a Weekend

So, I never called about my personal shopper, but I still intend to do that. I'm just putting it on the backburner temporarily.

Friday night I got called back into work at 4:30. I never answer my home phone, but I decided that since it was Friday and the sun was shining I would pick it up. Well, it was the little boss. Apparently our VP wanted us to come back in and do some work. I did, it sucked, but supposedly the little boss said we can take a day off. I haven't actually heard her say that, but that's floating around the rumor mill. I need to find out.

Saturday morning I got up and headed to Richmond for a Motor Maid meeting. Our annual convention is being held in July in Hagerstown, MD, and I'm the chairperson of the birthday party committee so I had to go. I had a fun time and there were two new Motor Maids. It's always fun meeting new riders and those new to the group. The traffic in DC was horrible on the way home, but I didn't mind the drive. I just wish it was 10 degrees warmer so I could've taken the bike.

Saturday night, Ed's brother bought the Ultimate Fighting Championship match on Pay Per View and he just got a TIVO so we went over there to watch the fights. I watched a UFC match a couple months ago, and it wasn't as bad as I thought, so I decided to watch it this time around. I won 6 dollars on the winners, so I was pretty excited about that. You never can tell who is going to win, so it's really a fair bet. The funny parts were when someone got knocked out. We would have Eric rewind it and we'd show the knockout in slow motion. HA!!HA!! Another funny part was the camera was showing three slutty girls, and they were hugging and smiling. One girl's shirt slid down her shoulder and you almost saw her nipple, but didn't. Yes, I think we saw that part about 5 times. hee hee. Boys will be boys. That ended around 1am. Saturday was a long day.

Sunday, Ed and I went to the mall. When you have never been to the mall with your boyfriend before, it's probably for the best if you don't go. I realize I'm a really picky shopper and that's probably why I don't do it (in addition to spending money, being around people, getting discouraged). Ed said that this mall was a good one and fairly large, blah blah. He has no idea. They didn't two stores that I can bear to shop in, but really, this mall sucked. The food court was probably the main attraction. I do love me some Orange Julius, so I had to get one of those. We went in the pet store, and we went in this store called Hollister Company. It's like Abercrombie and Fitch, but a lot cheaper. They had some cute stuff, but all summer stuff. I get too cold to wear summer stuff unless it's 90 degrees.

I won two dollars on the Superbowl. I bet on tails for the coin toss and I bet on the Eagles for the first score. So, I walked away with 8 dollars more than I had on Saturday, so I'm happy. My betting days are over until next year.

Friday Thoughts

Ossie Davis was found dead in his hotel room. I couldn't read the rest of the article because my coworkers were loud near me, but this news makes me sad. I do believe he just got an award at the Kennedy Center Honors, so he didn't even really have a chance to enjoy it (well, whatever perks you get from that). A lot of people have died recently and I don't think any of them are on Mel's death pool. Some boxer guy died today named Max something or oher, Ossie Davis and the Pope. Oops. He didn't die just yet. He's recovering from the flu. Sorry Pope. I think there was one other person that died today, but I can't recall the name.

According to Yahoo statistics, since the movie Sideways came out the sales of pino noir have increased tremendously. People are such sheep sometimes. Who watches a movie and then thinks 'oh, because that type of wine was in the movie I better go get some.' I haven't seen the movie, but maybe someone described it so people want to buy it and see if __ (enter star's name) was right about the wine. Very interesting.

Oh, I've had something in my eye since about 9:00. It hurts, but I can't seem to find anyone with contact solution around here. It feels like I have a piece of sand in my eye. Sometimes it's ok and sometimes it hurts really badly. Well, I have 3 hours until I go home, so I guess I'll live.

It's now time for me to start my day (it's 12:30). HA!!HA!! Happy Friday!!

An Update on Cgrl and Cguy for YB

For those that don't know the story, YB has posted several updates on his blog about this girl and guy that work in our department. They think they are having a secret love affair that no one knows about, but we all do. Sad, but true. No one has said anything to them though. I think we would just rather gossip. Today YB was out sick, so I was on patrol. (I think I did a fairly good job.) Here goes:

So YB was out, the little boss was out (that's our boss) and the girl that sits next to Cgirl (that's cheater girl) was out. The little boss, cgirl and, we'll call her other girl, all sit on the same row of cubicles. Cguy sits across the cube from other girl. They share a wall. I sit way down from cguy, but across from the little boss, and YB sits in an office at the end of the hallway. Yb's a snob with an office. hee hee.

The engineer guys (I know he's mentioned them before) are very busy this week because of shutdown, and Spacebrain (who shares an office with YB) is also busy with the shutdown, so basically it was just me and the cheaters. Well, I emailed everyone around 8 that the little boss was out sick today. Apparently that opened the floodgates.

I went to make my coffee and I heard cguy and cgirl whispering in cgirl's cube. I guess they were together talking about something. It's hard for me to sneak a peek because she has that mirror on her computer to see who walks by and I KNOW she looks at it often. So I made my coffee and left. Well, Cguy didn't leave the office until about 10a. They were probably mad that I was just sitting at my desk all day, but that's what I do best, so too bad for them. They can have their rendezvous elsewhere!

I went out to lunch with the engineer guys and when we came back, around 1, they were together again. Well, engineer guys and I were chatting it up about them at lunch, so it was hilarious that they were together again. There was no reason for me to go to that side because my friend other girl and the little boss were out, so I couldn't even fake the funk. I wouldn't be surprised if she blew him at some point during the day. I'm so focused on blogging and goofing off, that I tend to block everything out. I'm sorry I don't have anything better to report, but that was my day hanging with the cheaters. YB..hurry back!!!

Here's the Doll I Made

I realized I took out the borders, background and pool before I saved it. You'll just have to imagine the rest. The site can be found here. Or..the specific dollmker tool I used is here.

That Doll Website

I stayed up late on Saturday night just goofing around on the computer and I found a link of Veronica's site to make your own doll. I know J had one too, but I saw hers after Veronica's friend.

I tried to make a doll, and it was so hard for me to do. I kept picking ugly hairstyles and clothes that were just ridiculous. I hate NOT picking an option (can we say greedy), so I had all sorts of backgrounds and borders around my doll. I did see that there was an option to have a motorcycle so I picked that. Then I picked a dog as my pet because I love my dog and I have a dog. When I was finished I looked at the final product and just started laughing hysterically. I picked a pool setting, so me, the motorcycle and my dog were walking on water. I think that's a sign. hee hee. Secondly, the skin color doesn't work at all. There was an option for white skin or white plus one drop of brown skin. I picked the second one, of course. It looked ok at first except for some reason my neck and hands were still white. My doll is seriously having a Michael Jackson moment. I tried fixing it and I think I fixed it as best I could. I saved it because I started getting tired.

Yesterday when I got home I wanted to look at my doll again. Everyone else's came out so great, and mine is a complete and utter mess (not unlike myself). The tan skin is only on certain parts of the dolls face, so she looks like she's half albino. There are dark patches and white patches. My hair is windblown (as if I was riding all day), and my outfit is like something they would put on the thrift store model saying 'you can find cool stuff here' but it's really a lie.

Now after all this talk about my doll, I'll have to put a picture of her on here when I get home. Be prepared to see 'the worst doll ever made from that website.'

I NEED a Personal Shopper

I'm a spoiled brat. I hate cleaning my house, I hate cutting the grass, I hate going to the grocery store. Maybe I'm not a brat, I'm just too lazy to do things that I can pay someone to do. I think that's more like it. My time is valuable (ha ha ha).

I have been planning to go shopping since the 22nd of January. I was going to spend the day shopping and find some clothes that will last me another 5-10 years if I'm lucky. Well, it snowed that day, and I didn't even leave my house. I thought that maybe I would go this past weekend, but I was out running errands with Ed and the only shopping I did was exchanged some pants that my mom bought me, had my ring sized and I bought 3 bottles of wine.

Now, I'm thinking that I will go to Macy's and make an appointment with a personal shopper. Maybe she (he?) will tell me what would look nice, and actually find some clothes that fit me. My clothes are really getting tight and worn and they aren't the most appealing things to wear to work or play. I need many different outfits. I need a few nice things to wear to the theatre. I have a couple night weddings coming up, so maybe I can look for something pretty. I need new jeans that I can wear to the bars and look cute, or just go running errands and not look like I'm 50 with 5 kids wearing me down. What else do I need? I could use a couple work outfits. We get to dress casually, but I'm probably the most casual in the bunch, so I think I would like to neaten up just a bit (or at least have that option on some days). I would like some winter dress shoes. Maybe something with a heel. I love that boots are still in, but I can never find any that fit me. I've given up that dream. I think a personal shopper would have a field day with me because I'm so stuck in a time warp.

I'm going to call when I leave work and try to set up an appointment for this weekend. If not, I can go next weekend (just in time for Valentines). That would work out well, but hopefully this weekend would be better. Our next show is on Feb. 8th and that's The King and I. I don't even know the story, so I'm excited to see it. It would be nice to have something different to wear besides my same pants and a birghtly colored sweater.

I'll let you know how it goes if I can get through and make an appointment.
