Success At Last!

I've figured out the key to shopping. Go on a Monday evening. Last night when I went to the mall, I was able to park in the first parking spot next to the store. I got there around 6:30. No one was there! I went into the first store, and of course, I started getting a little nervous. I had to find the directory to see where my section was located. Ahh..it's upstairs. I went upstairs and immediately saw a rack of dresses. I browsed through them and picked out three that I liked. The lady offered to start me a dressing room and I continued shopping. I saw some sweaters on a clearance rack and figured I'd try those on too. Well, the sweaters fit like a charm and one dress was cute but it had a pucker in it and a red arrow on the pucker. I prayed that they had another one in my size and they did. Luck was with me! I bought the dress and the two sweaters and was on my way to the next store.

I went to Bebe, and they had a ton of clearance stuff, but most of their clothes are tank tops with that raggedy edge to them. I don't like raggedy, but I do like tank tops in the summer (say for riding), but I get so cold any other time that I can't really wear tank tops. They did have some cute ones, but I'm not the cute girl, so I had to pass on those. I ended up buying a fuzzy, yellow sweater. I got fuzzy socks for Christmas, so it's a match. The girl there wanted to put my name on the mailing list, but I told her I wasn't interested.

Next I went to Ann Taylor to see what they have. Their stuff is a little older, but every now and again they have stuff that I like. It's hit or miss for me. Well, I seriously hit the jackpot. All of their nice dresses were on sale for at least 50% off. Since no one was in the store, the lady and I picked out a lot of dresses and we were both trying them on. I ended up buying 4 dresses for 50 bucks a piece. You can't beat that when the start prices were all about 200 or 189 or whatever it is. Two are strapless black dresses, one has a beaded middle and skinny straps, and one is pink/mauve with a gold lace sheath on top and a sheer pink skirt underneath. It kind of has that ragged edge, but it's an even ragged. It doesn't look like it got caught in the escalator! The salesgirl is a seamstress so she was giving me hints about cinching the top of the strapless dresses so they fit better. I thought that was really nice of her.

Next stop-Victoria's secret. Usually when I go to the mall, I end up buying 5 pairs of panties for 25 and that's it. Today I needed to have some self control. I ended up buying two strapless/convertible bras because who knows when I will get back to the mall. Can you tell I'm so happy with shopping?

Finally, I had to get shoes. It was 8:30 and the mall closed at 9:30. I usually have trouble buying shoes so I figured an hour would give me enough time to try on as many styles as I could with hopes that maybe one or two would fit. Again, I hit the jackpot. I bought one pair of gold stripper shoes (like a clog) to match the black dresses and spice things up a bit. I bought a pair of slingbacks with that really point toe and a penny loafer tassle mixed with an allligator skin front. Cute cute. Those also have a heel, but not as big as the gold stripper shoes. Then I bought a pair of heels with the alligator skin again but they have a scalloped heel and a big square rhinestone on the top. It's cute too. The heel is REALLY high. Those will probably hurt my feet, but they are must haves for my outfits.

I can't believe how much fun I had yesterday in the mall. I got a lot of shopping done and now I can look like a star at the theatre. Oh yeah, my credit card company called me to ask if I was really the one making purchases. They know my spending habits and they know I don't spend a lot EVER, so I'm glad (kind of) that they were looking out for me. I'll try to take pics sometime this week and get them posted so you can see what the dresses look like. :)

Wow. I feel like I've been shopping just reading that. I'm very jealous. I got the by-proxy-shopping-rush. I'm half tempted to get in my car and go get my own fo' real.

Grace, I hate shopping as much as you do and that's why I was so excited about actually finding stuff and buying stuff. 5 dresses should last me the rest of my life-seriously.

V-No, I could never be 'a shopper'. I think I just got very lucky.

Freebird, Me Today Me Tomorrow -thanks for stopping by.

Ian- Those strapless bras actually stay UP! Those are the only ones I've found that I can jump in. hee hee.

Beergirl-HA!!HA!! Gotta love the strippers. The part under the toes has cushions so it's comfy. I guess that's how they do it.
