Thursday, finally!

I have been looking forward to today since I went back to work on Monday. The Ravens (9-2) play the Bengals tonight. I'm going to the Knotty Pine, and I have my dollars with me. Maybe tonight is the night I buy everyone a round. Everyone else always buy them, and I never do, so I guess it's my turn.

I was sent a notice in the mail for jury duty. I worked hard all week so that just in case I'm out tomorrow, I wouldn't feel like I wasn't doing my share of tomorrow's work. Well, I called at 4:31 (you're supposed to call after 4:30), and the recording said if your number is between 50 and 788, call back tomorrow at noon. My number is 716 or 719 (I forget). So..I'll go into work tomorrow hungover, call at 12, and see whether I have to go to jury duty or not. By that time, I won't really care. The only problem is that driving home in the evening on a Friday isn't going to be so pleasant.

If you have the NFL ticket, you better be cheering for the Ravens!!

I should probably take a nap for an hour, but I'm too excited. In other news, my new "boyfriend" called me sexy. I said thanks and then laughed and laughed. hee hee. It's funny calling him my boyfriend, and I haven't done it in public yet. It's hard for me to attach myself out loud. It's probably because I make fun of people who constantly talk about their boyfriends with the word boyfriend. He has a name, you idiot.

You'd Never Guess That I'm 32

I am the most immature 32 year old I know.

I watch commercials and shows where people are in their 30s and they have it together, smiling, beautiful, etc.. And then I think, 'I'm nowhere near them. What's wrong with me?'

So Ryan and I are together now since last week or two weeks ago (I'm not really paying that much attention), and he had a party on Saturday with all his friends. His friends are mostly guys (a few random girlfriends or dates here and there pop up), and then there's me. I'm the oldes of the group, and that's fine. I don't mind not drinking so people can have rides, being somewhat responsible, shooing everyone out of the bar after last call, etc... But then, there's the other retarded side of me.

On Saturday one of the guys brought his girlfriend of many years that I've never met. She works in a restaurant so she's never around on the weekendds. She said 'How long have you and Ryan been together?' I gulped and said 'Um..maybe a week?' HA!!HA!! What a stupid answer. I didn't know what to say. I did tell her that we've known each other for a long time, and I have hung out with the guys more than a time or two. Good thing she was getting drunk or she really would have thought I was pathetic.

Oh, and I told Ryan that he has to invite me on a date where his roommates are NOT. I like them and all, but some alone time would be nice. Again, who asks for someone to take them on a date? HA!!HA!! Geez.

Holiday Mondays are for the Birds

I had a great Thanksgiving weekend. Friends and family are too much fun.
Unfortunately, it's Monday and I do NOT want to take my shower and get ready for work. The good news is that my boss is gone. The bad news is that I really have quite a bit to get done today. Maybe if I focus, I can finish my papers, and have an awesome afternoon/evening. We'll see.

The weather has been in the 60s and sunny, so that's one plus about this past weekend.

I sang like 4 karaoke songs on Saturday at Ryan's Thanksgiving party. What a crazy Saturday night.

Ed finally got ALL of his stuff out of my house, and now my house is kind of empty, but that's the way it really needs to be. I don't like having a lot of stuff, but I do need a coffeetable (ha ha). I have one in the spare bedroom. I just have to move my junk off of it and take it downstairs. *sigh*

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and a great weekend!

Repressed Memory

I was posting on The Peevery, and I remembered that I did something very random at that wedding at the end of October.

In this instance, I have no reason to talk about white trash anybody, because this is what I did:

The bathroom at the reception only had two stalls and there was an open bar and maybe 150-200 guests. I hate going pee in public restrooms unless I absolutely have to or unless I'm drinking. Because of this, I always hold my pee until the last minute because I forget where I am. Well, on this fateful night, I ran into the bathroom and both stalls were full, and there was one person in line. I remember yelling 'Are you hurrying? Are you almost done? I have to go pee SOOOOO bad.' The people in the stalls were laughing and talking. I don't even remember what they were saying. Two seconds later, I pulled down my stockings, hiked up my skirt and jumped on the sink with the water running. How disgusting am I?

I made it out of there before the other two finished peeing. There is no shame in my game, that's for sure.

You Try To Do Something Nice

I just got back from exchanging tickets for one of my shows coming up next week. I'm going to have to work second shift, so I wasn't able to attend the show on my scheduled night. In the meantime, they cancelled the show for this week, so everyone that had tickets for this week is scrambling to find seats for next week.

So, I go to the box office, and tell the lady my predicament, and she says that if I only want to exchange one ticket I can get better seats. That's fine because I don't have anyone to go with anymore, so it's not a big deal. After I get a worst seat (2 rows back) than the one I had, I tell her that she can cancel the other seat that I have for that show so that another couple from this week can sit together. She tells me that it's not possible and I can either try to find two seats together for myself on another night or give my ticket away. I didn't want to do either, so I ended up leaving with my 1 worst seat. I thought I was being helpful, only to have the rude lady tell me that there's nothing she can do about it. I'm pretty sure there's cancel seat button, but I've never worked for 5 bucks an hour dealing with snooty season ticket holders so I have no idea.

That lady sure wasn't in the Thanksgiving spirit.

The Boxing Details

We went to Glen Burnie to watch Anna, MHS' friend box on Friday night. He told us it was women's boxing. I have never been to a boxing match before, so I figured it might be interesting.

When we got there, the place was packed. We showed up around 8:30, and apparently the doors opened at 6, the lights went out at 6:30, and came back on at 8. Everyone stayed there with no food or drink for 1.5 hours. I can't believe it, but they did. It cost 25 bucks to get in, so I guess no one wanted to give up their seat. This was their big night out. Glen Burnie is full of white trash type of people, and they were dressed in their Sunday's finest. Grills, hoochie mama skirts, velour sweatsuits, gold chains, sideways hats-I'm telling you, they were dressed to the 9s.

So the fights began, and there were little kids boxing. They were like 8 or 9. I didn't like that too much, but they were at least trying. The 20 year old guys kind of jumped around a lot.

I got mad at Ryan and MHS and poured/tossed 1/2 a beer on them, and the Moose lodge man told us that we had to move. HA!!HA!! Oops. So, we moved. We went to the Baltimore Boxing corner, and made friends with a boxer named Vince. He was fighting two fights after Anna. Anna ended up losing to this girl who wasn't good. She was just all over the place. Anna always gave the girl time to fix her hair when it went in her face, and she should have been taking her shots then. It was Anna's first fight, so maybe she'll do better next time.

When the fight after Anna started, the coaches were really into the fight. Everyone was cheering and yelling, and then one coach/assistant coach/somebody important got really mad. I think he was mad because the ref scolded him/them. All of a sudden, everyone was holding him back. He was near our corner when they started holding him and calming him down. All of a sudden, some jacked black guy took off his sweatshirt and just swung (not sure who he hit), but someone fell back in their chair and all hell broke loose. MHS was sitting near the guy in the chair, and he ran over to where we were. I was hiding behind the other Ryan (another friend), and not really paying attention. The fight was broken up and the boxing match continued. That was the end of that. Vince won his fight, so we were all really happy.

The next fight was the final match. The "home" guy walked in to 'Eye of the Tiger', and everyone was going crazy. We were rooting for the away team so we were just laughing at him. MHS and Ryan and the others kept yelling out 'That song is so gay, that boxer is stupid, etc..' The home boxer's friends kept looking at them because they were rooting for the home team. The fight was good, and it looked like Sammy, the away guy, was going to win. We didn't want to cheer too loudly because we'd get beat up, so we walked to the door for the rest of the fight. When the fight was over, Sammy won. We were jumping up and down, and then we quickly made our escape. Anna told MHS later that there were like 10 fights outside afterwards.

It was fun, but I don't think I would go again. I can only take so many white trash events in one month, and I've hit my quota of two. So..I can now say 'been there, done that.' MHS will probably go back again to see Anna, but I'm staying home.

Saturday, I went out for a bit, and Sunday I watched football all day. The Ravens won again, and now they're 8-2. I'm going to be so mad if they end up going to the Superbowl.

Oh, and I got my windows installed. They are so nice and clean. And..my house isn't drafty anymore. It's awesome.

BS Saturday?

I went to fight night last night. Yeah, boxing. MHS had a lady friend that was boxing.

I have to take my shower and get ready for the Michigan/Ohio State game, but I'll fill you in with the details later.

Oh, and yes, there was a fight in the audience. Yowsers.

Peachy is a Girl's Name*

Today I had to stay a bit late for the second shift pre-shift meeting. I have to do another test tomorrow evening, so I wanted to prepare everyone and let them know what was going to happen.

I had been corresponding with the 2nd shift supervisor by email and leaving random stuff on his chair.

Today I finally met him and introduced myself, blah blah. He acted like he knew what was going on, so things were good. Then he said 'Wait, you're Peachy?' I said 'Yeah. That's what I said.' He said 'I thought you were a guy.'I said 'No, I'm a girl.' 'Oh ok, Peachy. I know who you are now.'

I don't know how you could confuse Peachy with a Y with Peachi with an I. I's are for boys. HA!!HA!!

*This conversation makes no sense since my name really isn't Peachy. Surprise.

PS. Whenever I'm laughing in my post, I'm really laughing. YB saw me in action yesterday, reading something that I wrote, where I really laughed out loud. I guess if you can't make yourself laugh, how would others know you're funny?

Quick Note

YB and I went to the aquarium today. We both took off work, had lunch with our old coworkers, and then we headed to the Harbor. The weather was nice, and we found a free 2 hour parking spot. That rules. It's hard to find parking in the city.

As we're going to the main exhibit, a small girl and her two friends are playing keep away with a blue, koosh kind of ball. It had the strings on the end, but it was soft. The girl tosses it to her friend, but she throws it wildly, and it falls onto the down escalator. She yells to her friends, 'I'll get it!' Bob and I were going up the up escalator, and the mom or chaperone is yelling 'Stop yelling!' End of story.

1.5 hours later, YB and I are heading down the stairs because the escalator wasn't working. We look at the bottom of the escalator, and what's stuck in the bottom? The remains of the girl's blue ball. The aquarium man was standing there trying to pick the blue stuff out of the escalator. We told the guy that we saw that girl throw the ball and it went onto the escalator. He told us that kids' shoelaces get stuck in there a lot of times, and the chaperones have to be careful.

I felt bad because I laughed at the kid getting his toe mangled from wearing a fake Croc shoe, but it's really not funny. oops.

I wanted to tell the man 'The girl was white, with blonde hair, and wearing a pink shirt!' but I didn't. I wonder what she did when she started going down the escalator and it came to a screeching halt.

YB has all the pictures from the day. I think we took a couple good ones.

Pot Calling the Kettle Black

Last night Crazy Erin called me to tell me that she got the same book that I'm reading, The Wholeness of a Broken Heart. She told me that her friend Phillip picked up the book, and we'll discuss it when we're finished. Fine. Then I asked about her friend Victoria, who was at her Thanksgiving dinner, and she said...drumroll please...

"Victoria is neurotic!"

I just started laughing and said 'Oh, yeah?' BWAAHAAHAA!!!

Busy Weekend

I worked third shift on Thursday night, which means I had to go to bed at 7p, wake up at 11, and get to work by midnight. Last time I was supposed to work that shift I overslept. I made it on time, and the people weren't ready for me. I ended up taking a nap at my desk until about 2, and didn't actually start my study until aboutu 3:30a. I worked until about 6:30 and headed home. I slept almost all day Friday, except I went to Sushi Friday with the old coworkers. How fun.

Friday afternoon I watched Brokeback Mountain. It wasn't what I thought it would be. It was kind of a "love story," but the love was over a 20 year period, and that wasn't really love to me, but lust. I'm going to spoil it here, but they would go meet up in WY for a week and just have man-sex. The first love scene, they were sleeping in the tent together, and Heath Ledger got up and just started banging Jake Gyllenhall. They didn't talk, they didn't kiss, they just had sex. That's not very loving to me for a first time, but I guess they liked it raw. ha ha. I give the movie 2 stars. It wasn't worth all the hype.

Friday night I didn't do much. Saturday I went to visit Mom-mom and my old coworker Eva. Mom-mom's doing ok. She thought she was robbed of a beige blazer with the tags on it, but I told her it was probably misplaced. She does have a lot of clothes. I also told her that if someone had to steal from her, they probably needed it more than she did, and she can always get another blazer. I think that made her feel better. She's coming down for Thanksgiving.

Saturday night, Ryan, his friend Brian and I headed out to white trash town for a bull roast. Of course, Lisa's family is big into this bull-roast, so we had two tables full of people to chill with. It was SO much fun. We danced, ate, sang, and had a great time. One note to the guy at the next table over-rat tails went out in 1988. HA!!HA!! People were dressed in all sorts of bad clothes, but they were steppin' out, so I can't fault them. Everyone had fun. After that we went to the Pine for karaoke, but when we got there, they were singing "Proud to be an American," and that's the last song of the night. Boooo. I had my song ready too.

Sunday, I woke up to cold weather and the Ravens game. Oh, before the game, here's what I ate: a 1/2 turkey sandwich and chicken and rice soup from Panera, a third of a baguette, a chicken caesar salad, and two slices of pizza. Then I got the bar and ate a bowl of chili. I think I have a worm. HA!!HA!! Sometimes I get REALLY hungry, and Sunday was my big day for that. I got free beers, and the Ravens won. Sunday night I read my book and watched some random tv.

I hope everyone else had a fun weekend. I think this was our Indian summer, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I'm a Stockholder

I have all this money in my retirement account, and I was bored with my mutual fund choices, so I decided to sell off some of the mutual funds and leave it in a cash account.

Well, back in May (like two days before I got fired), I bought 4 stocks. I don't know if I wrote about them, but if not, here's the list. ExxonMobil (I might as well gain from the high gas prices), AES (some energy company based out of VA), Mastercard (I bought the day after they went public), and UnderArmour (Baltimore based performance wear for athletes). Well, I've done a pretty good job with my choices. Mastercard has doubled since I bought it, and the others are slowly trudging uphill. It makes me happy.

Yesterday I decided to buy some Apple stock (the new iPod stuff is coming out for Christmas), and I bit the bullet and bought Crocs. You know I love my purple and red Crocs. They have a lot of new shoes out, and soon they will be marketing to colleges (maybe shoes with college colors on them, and perhaps the symbols too. I have no idea). I thought I should buy some of that while the price is still reasonable.

Today I read that a kid in Japan was wearing a fake pair of Crocs and got his or her toe ripped off in an escalator. By the time they found the kid's toe, it was too mangled to sew back on. Crocs company said that their shoes are fine for walking on the escalator, and there are no problems. I feel bad for the kid, but the mom really should have sucked up the extra 10 bucks and bought the real shoe. I bet she feels bad now. How horrible am I? I've turned into a snobby stockholder. HA!

The moral: Suck up the cost to have nice things. Cheaping out is never good. BUT don't use your credit card (unless it's a Mastercard) to pay for it. Finance charges will kill you. Shop and buy wisely.

Positive Thinking

Do you think you can will something to happen? I think I can (sometimes).

I hadn't seen Ryan since Friday night when we watched Borat. We email during the workday and everything's good, but I kind of missed seeing him. He is in grad school, so he takes classes two nights a week, and I never see him until Wednesday (as you know). Yesterday day I was thinking 'It sure would be nice to see him, but my designated night is Wednesday, so I'll just relax.'

When I got home, I chatted with Krystyn for a bit and then I went downstairs to read my book, eat cereal and watch bad tv. As I was sitting there, my phone rang. It was Ryan. He asked what I was doing-nothing (what else is new?). He asked if he could come over later so he could get some studying done for his test in peace and quiet (he has roommates). I told him that I'd be home, so come on by.

I was so excited that he wanted to come over. We ordered pizza, and I read my book while he studied. It was so nice. It was funny when I got up in the morning to get ready for work and he was still sleeping. I told him the rules of the house (eat cereal, use the PINK toothbrush, cut off the lights, lock the door), and I left a happy girl.

The best part of all of this is that today's Wednesday. Party at his house tonight. Woohoo!! As one of my favorite songs goes 'There might be hope for me yet.'-Marc Broussard

Election Day 2006

Don't forget to vote. I rushed home from work so that I could get there before prime time (5:30-8:30). The line wasn't too bad, and the computers were working.

I voted for Erlich (republican) for governor. The democratic candidate hasn't really improved the city as mayor as far as I can tell, so I decided to stick with who we have. For Senate, I voted for Cardin, the democrat. His website was better at explaining his platforms, so I thought, why not?

I hate the random questions they ask after you pick the people. How would I know if the 3.6 million dollars that the county wants to borrow for parks will really go towards fixing the parks. They write all that stuff out in Greek, so who knows what they're even talking about half the time. I hate those questions. Maybe instead of slinging mud, they should let us know what the random questions will be, and try explaining them.

The whole political thing is such a racket.

Borat!

You have GOT to go see this movie. Don't wait until it comes out on video or you'll really be missing out. It lives up to all the hype. Go go go. It's hilarious.

And now I must sleep.

Where Do Moles Come From?

I'm talking about moles on your skin, not the disgusting rodents.

I looked in the mirror just now and realized I have a new mole on the side of my neck. I think the last one I discovered was on the left side of my back, but visible when I twist to the side. I have no idea how they just appear. They never hurt or get any bigger, but I wonder when or why they decide to show up. The ones on my face I can understand because they say it's from the sun, but the others??

Hmm..I guess I'll do some research on them this weekend.

I went to Toys R Us last night to pick up the game Balderdash. Crazy Erin's family is in town, and she is supposed to be having an early Thanksgiving. I'm kind of dreading it because I don't think she's really having an early Thanksgiving. I just think she's having her family over, and we're going to eat some food (I know there won't be a turkey. I just know it!). I like her family, I just don't know how long I'll be obligated to stay at her place. Did I mention she asked me to move out of state with her and live together someday? I was like 'Um..I'm not moving anytime soon, but thanks for inviting me.' She's crazy.
