The Boxing Details

We went to Glen Burnie to watch Anna, MHS' friend box on Friday night. He told us it was women's boxing. I have never been to a boxing match before, so I figured it might be interesting.

When we got there, the place was packed. We showed up around 8:30, and apparently the doors opened at 6, the lights went out at 6:30, and came back on at 8. Everyone stayed there with no food or drink for 1.5 hours. I can't believe it, but they did. It cost 25 bucks to get in, so I guess no one wanted to give up their seat. This was their big night out. Glen Burnie is full of white trash type of people, and they were dressed in their Sunday's finest. Grills, hoochie mama skirts, velour sweatsuits, gold chains, sideways hats-I'm telling you, they were dressed to the 9s.

So the fights began, and there were little kids boxing. They were like 8 or 9. I didn't like that too much, but they were at least trying. The 20 year old guys kind of jumped around a lot.

I got mad at Ryan and MHS and poured/tossed 1/2 a beer on them, and the Moose lodge man told us that we had to move. HA!!HA!! Oops. So, we moved. We went to the Baltimore Boxing corner, and made friends with a boxer named Vince. He was fighting two fights after Anna. Anna ended up losing to this girl who wasn't good. She was just all over the place. Anna always gave the girl time to fix her hair when it went in her face, and she should have been taking her shots then. It was Anna's first fight, so maybe she'll do better next time.

When the fight after Anna started, the coaches were really into the fight. Everyone was cheering and yelling, and then one coach/assistant coach/somebody important got really mad. I think he was mad because the ref scolded him/them. All of a sudden, everyone was holding him back. He was near our corner when they started holding him and calming him down. All of a sudden, some jacked black guy took off his sweatshirt and just swung (not sure who he hit), but someone fell back in their chair and all hell broke loose. MHS was sitting near the guy in the chair, and he ran over to where we were. I was hiding behind the other Ryan (another friend), and not really paying attention. The fight was broken up and the boxing match continued. That was the end of that. Vince won his fight, so we were all really happy.

The next fight was the final match. The "home" guy walked in to 'Eye of the Tiger', and everyone was going crazy. We were rooting for the away team so we were just laughing at him. MHS and Ryan and the others kept yelling out 'That song is so gay, that boxer is stupid, etc..' The home boxer's friends kept looking at them because they were rooting for the home team. The fight was good, and it looked like Sammy, the away guy, was going to win. We didn't want to cheer too loudly because we'd get beat up, so we walked to the door for the rest of the fight. When the fight was over, Sammy won. We were jumping up and down, and then we quickly made our escape. Anna told MHS later that there were like 10 fights outside afterwards.

It was fun, but I don't think I would go again. I can only take so many white trash events in one month, and I've hit my quota of two. So..I can now say 'been there, done that.' MHS will probably go back again to see Anna, but I'm staying home.

Saturday, I went out for a bit, and Sunday I watched football all day. The Ravens won again, and now they're 8-2. I'm going to be so mad if they end up going to the Superbowl.

Oh, and I got my windows installed. They are so nice and clean. And..my house isn't drafty anymore. It's awesome.
