I Got New Shoes

Check these babies out

I was looking for those Danskos that Peeved Michelle recommended, and I had to go to the REI store anyway, so I was looking and looking, and found the ones above in red. I am going to a rally at the end of the month that has public showers or something nasty like that, so I needed some sandals to wear while I'm bathing. These will do the trick. They are so comfortable. They remind me of my old Birkenstocks that I loved, but since my dog loves leather, I can't really keep Birkenstocks around the house. So, this is the newest answer to my slipper prayers. I'm going to get another pair, I just haven't decided what color. I think I'll either get the light blue (because I have a lof of blue stuff), or I'll just get the purple because that's my favorite color and I don't have many purple things. It doesn't matter that I don't match. I'll look like a weirdo with these shoes on no matter what, right? HA!!HA!!

So Far Behind

I think I have a lot of blog reading to do, and a lot of posting.

My weekend went well. Ed and I talked on Thursday night, and things are better. What a big fight. I don't know if I've ever been in a fight like that before. Ed said he was the saddest he had been in 10 years the week we didn't talk. That secretly made me happy, but I'm a rock. He told me that he was going to pick up the stuff he is storing in my house until his gets finished (he's remodeling). I told him OK. He said 'I'll take 40 dollars for the table downstairs by the couches.' I said 'I don't want the table, take it.' I'm so mean. I also told him that I'd pay him for my half of the theater tickets. He said "I don't want them, so you can pay for the whole set." That bothered me because if he doesn't want to go to the theater, why is he going? I am more than happy to go by myself, even though it seems he likes going. I don't know what that was all about. I guess it's that whole 'present yourself as a couple idea he loves.' I still like going, so I don't really care if that's why he goes.

So, now that things are better, his stuff is still at my house. He told me that he went to the bar Friday night and rode his motorcycle. He's an idiot, and I just ignored him when he told me that. If he wants to drink and ride, that's all him. I will have no part in that.

Saturday we rode to Denver, PA (north of Lancaster). It rained the last 15 miles to his brother's house and we had horrible directions. But we got there, ate, dried out and had a nice ride back home. I have a story about his brother/sister, but I'll talk about that later.

Sunday we went to DC for Rolling Thunder. We met at the Rockville HD and supposedly there were between 1500-2000 bikes there for an escorted ride to the Pentagon. The procession was amazing. A little slow, but it was a nice ride. We got to the Pentagon parking lot around 10:30, and didn't actually get to ride in the parade/demonstration until 2:45. It was a long day, but there were plenty of people to talk to and friends (he he, you know my weird internet friends) to catch up with.
The WWII memorial is really nice. I took some pictures, but i didn't get a chance to put them on photobucket yet. I'll do that tonight and you can check them out.

Yesterday, we just hung around the house. Nothing spectacular. It was a good day of rest. Too bad I don't have more days like that.

I Have To Stop Being So Cheap

This morning when I got to work, I noticed a noise coming from my shoe. It was like a little rattle. After I got my coffee drink thing, I sat at my desk and noticed that there was a rock in the sole of my shoe.

The soles of my shoes have little rubber squares/shapes along the bottom. They're pretty worn out, but one square has completely worn away and there is just a hole that you can stick your finger in. The hole doesn't go all the way to my sock though. No one would ever see it if I was walking normally. Next to the hole, there's a square with three quarters of it, cut open or worn open, rather. So, with YB standing at my desk, I saved the rock (pretty good sized) and threw it away.

Just now I heard the rattling noise again! I looked at the shoe on the left where I had saved the rock earlier and there was nothing there. I looked at my right shoe and there was a teeny weeny square that had worn away. Well, there were three rocks inside. I could be a one man band, dancing to the beat of my own drum with these rocks that keep getting stuck in my shoes.

The cheap part about this story is that I only wear these shoes to work. I think they were 25 dollars at Value City and the only reason why I went in there in the first place was because I desperately needed shoes and I didn't want to go far from home to get them. I guess they've done a good job for me, and I should buy a new pair..decisions, decisions.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

My mom just called me to remind me that it's my younger sister's three year wedding anniversary. I called and left a message on her voicemail. Obligation complete.

Three years ago, I was sweating my balls off in Jamaica for her wedding. I paid approximately 1000 dollars for me and my boyfriend at the time to fly down there and stay at a resort next to Hedonism II in Ochos Rios. If I had known then what I know now. I think the hotel that my parents stayed in was like 1000 dollars each, but I knew I couldn't afford it and neither could my boyfriend, so we got the cheap hotel. It wasn't necessarily a bad place, but there were lots of ants in the room. I could hardly sleep because I had visions of ants just eating me alive. Another memory I have is that I couldn't get drunk off the drinks. Maybe my tips weren't good enough. I don't know what it was, but I wasn't impressed with the food or the drink. I guess my boyfriend was smarter than I was because he packed his own libation (ugh!) The wedding was nice. We played sand volleyball, and my loser boyfriend didn't even show up for the reception. My mom and family were all really mad at me and him the whole weekend I'm sure. I don't think they ever really liked him all that much, but it was my boyfriend so they stayed out of it. Thank goodness that relationship ended. I was such a sucker.

Which brings me to today. I think I've been bamboozled again. I called Ed on Monday night, and I just got a voicemail. Last night I called again and I actually left two messages. One saying to call me back when he can. An hour later I called and said 'If you don't want to talk to me, that's fine, just let me know.' This morning I called at 7:30a and said 'Ok. Now I'm starting to get a little worried. Please call.' So he called back at 8:20, when I was having a nightmare and my phone was charging, and left a message saying 'I'll stop by tonight and we can discuss things we need to discuss.'

So all afternoon I sat around my house waiting for him to show up. I had no idea what time he was supposed to come by because he didn't say. I figured it would be after work. We'd have our words and then go on with our lives. Well, it's now 9:12, I realized the season finale of Lost is on, and he's really into that show, but don't you think he could have called and said 'Oh, sorry. I forgot Lost was on. Can we discuss things tomorrow?' I got nothing. I seriously think I'm done. I know he's fine, so there's no reason for me to worry or call anymore. Again, it was fun while it lasted. I'm so mad at myself for sticking around home thinking he'd come by.

Oh No!!

I was just hanging out at The Peevery, and someone mentioned all the shows that they weren't going to watch last night, but would be drinking instead.

Go figure. That's the same thing I did except that last night was the season finale of 'The Contender!' I waited all these months for the finale, and I totally missed it because I was out at the bar. I even heard music from the show last night and thought about it, but never thought that the finale was on. The show usually comes on on Sundays, so that's when I think about it. Now I have to go to the website to see who won. Son of a _________. That makes me angry.

I'm So Mean at Work

First, I told my cubicle neighbor that YB calls him 'fathead.' HA!!HA!! We all got a laugh out of that one. A few people in my office area were measuring their heads with a measuring tape. It was odd, but funny.

Second, we had birthday lunch yesterday for the little boss, me and YB (his is the 27th). I invited everyone in our office area minus the two new project managers. They are not part of "us", and I will not invite them anywhere. I even invited cheater girl and although I don't necessarily like her, she's part of the group. She didn't show up for lunch.

After lunch she walked by my desk and YB was standing in front of my desk. I said "We missed you at lunch cgirl", and she said 'That's ok.' YB made a silly face and I started laughing. I said 'that's ok? What kind of answer is that? It doesn't even make sense.' Then I just kept laughing. Engineer guy (the one that supposedly likes me) told me later on that night that I was being pretty mean when I started laughing at her. I said 'Well, I invite her to lunch, she doesn't show up and then can't even answer appropriately when I tell her we missed her at lunch. Who cares? I'm not inviting her next time.' hee hee. I wonder how people stand me.

I watched Ray

I left work a little early yesterday because there was really no reason to be here. The little boss was gone, my loud friend was gone and YB was working (ha ha ha). I just figured it would be a good time to leave.

When I got home I got online and I saw that Arthur's wife (hee hee it's so funny calling him Arthur) was on yahoo. She said that Ed didn't go up there this weekend. I didn't really want to ask, but I was just being nosy.

I goofed off until 7 and decided to watch Ray. It was a good film. Poor Ray. He had so many flashbacks. I bet it's weird becoming blind. I think if I had the choice, I'd just be blind from birth. There are too many things I would miss seeing.

After the movie, I did call Ed but the voicemail picked up and I didn't leave a message. He can call back. I'm pretty surprised that he hasn't called me though. But, guess who did call me? My old boyfriend. What are the odds? He called to wish me a happy bday. That was nice of him and he's working (this month), so I guess everything's rosy. I just lied to him and said things with me and Ed were fine. It's none of his business, and not like he really cares.

Today I'm on my own nerves so I'm trying to finish up one report and stop working for the rest of the day.

Music Stuff from Beergirl

I was passed the baton on this music deal. Let's see how I do.

The total volume of music files on my computer

I have a big fat goose egg. I like quiet.

The last CD I bought was

I bought Nora Jones and Michelle Branch. I loaned them to YB, so I don't know the titles. They're both really good though.

Five songs I listen to a lot or mean a lot to me,

I only listen to these songs if they're on the radio, but I always like them.
Beast of Burden-Rolling Stones
Man in the Mirror-Michael Jackson
Lady in Red-Not sure
I Can't Make You Love Me-Bonnie Raitt
You've Got a Friend-James Taylor

I'm not passing this on. If you want to do it, go on. :)

Maybe I'm Single Now

I'll tell you guys what happened to cause the demise of my so called relationship. It's called me being stubborn and not willing to compromise.

It all started on a sunny Thursday morning. Wait..it really started maybe a week or two weeks before that. I invited Ed to go with me for a ride on Saturday to VA. I was planning to meet some people from one of my motorcycle websites. True, it happened to be three old, married men from Vermont, but, they were doing a timed riding challenge and since it's nice to see friendly faces when you're halfway through your challenge, I figured I would show up. Others from the website were supposed to be there also. I never really got a response from Ed, so whatever. I was still going anyway. He can come along if he likes (you guys know, I'm not the bossy type, so he's his own person he can do what he wants).

So on Thursday morning, my bday, I get an email from another biker friend (we'll call him Arthur) asking me to ask Ed to come up to PA and hang out. Arthur and his wife are having a baby sometime in June and figured this would be the perfect weekend for a guy's weekend out. I tell him that I'll talk to Ed and let him know what he plans to do.

I called Ed immediately telling him that Arthur invited him up for the weekend and a few others were planning on going. Ed said 'no, I think I'll just stick around the house cleaning and doing laundry.' I said 'ok, but are you going to ride with me to VA?' He said 'what's going on in VA?' I said 'Some people from my moto. website are meeting up. He yells 'NO, I"M NOT GOING ANYWHERE TO MEET UP WITH STRANGE MEN FROM THE INTERNET.' I said 'Oh, ok then. Talk to you later.'

He came over Thursday evening, dropped off my gifts, drank some Jim Beam and Coke, and got on the computer. I opened my gifts, sat downstairs and watched JJ and some other random shows. At 6pm I went back upstairs and asked if he was hungry and wanted to go to Obrycki's. He said he had already eaten. Well, fine. So I went back downstairs and he ended up going home. I had yogurt for dinner. That's the last I have heard from him.

I told YB that I'm too independent for boys. I will not compromise and I don't think I have done anything wrong. I like to meet people (male or female), and I know these people are not going to kill me. If they do, who cares anyway. I lived a good life and I have no regrets or things that I wish I had done. If I wanted them that badly, I would do them. Ed thinks that I should always hang out with him and if we are a couple we have to do things together. I disagree. I like doing things together, but I'm not going to force him to do things with me. If I want to do something, I do it. I don't need him to define me. I am my own person. He thinks that it is inappropriate for me to show up somewhere without my boyfriend if I have a boyfriend. I asked him if he doesn't trust me. He says he does, but I don't think he's telling the truth. I have never given him any reason not to trust me. I am better than that. I am a loyal girlfriend. If I am in a relationship there's no way I'm doing anything with other people. He also asked me what I would do if he went out with a girl. I told him that if they were just friends, I don't even care. I trust him to not do anything and if he wants to do something, he can tell me and that will be the end of it. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any girl friends so that would never happen.

So, that's that. I guess I should probably call him sometime just to find out if it's the end instead of wondering all this time, but I'm stubborn. I didn't do anything wrong, so why should I be the one to call.

I'm also not apologizing because when you say you're sorry and mean it, you don't do the same thing again. I know that given the opportunity, I would do the same thing again, so I can't say sorry and mean it. We're at a standstill, and it makes me sad, but I will just have to move on.

My Birthday Weekend

I don't feel like saying a lot, but I had a fantastic bday weekend.

Friday I went to happy hour with my coworkers. There were only 5 of us, but it was a lot of fun. I played pool and made a couple awesome shots. I suck at pool, so I don't really like to play, but there were 4 people left, so I figured I wouldn't be a spoil sport.

After that, I went to this place called the Federal Hill lounge. I'm way too old to be in a lounge. Everyone was drinking cosmopolitans and looking fancy. I'm surprised they even served beer there. I ended up getting a Tom Collins as my last drink there and totally had to nurse it. It was good, but I was driving and didn't want to be completely out of control.

Next stop-a different local bar. I just drank water because I planned on going home. I didn't go home until 5am on Saturday. Ed's van was around, but he and the bike weren't. I think he went to PA. I haven't talked to him, but I hope he's having fun wherever he is.

Saturday day I went riding to meet some friends. The weather was awesome. I went to my first town on the AMA tour. Marlowe, WV. I couldn't take a picture the first time I stopped by because Marlowe Elementary was having a kids fun day and I didn't want to seem like a perv, so I took it on the way home. Williamsport, PA is a quaint town also. I'd like to go back.

Saturday night I went to College Park, MD for a party. It was fun. Why am I always the only girl? It sucks sometimes, but I dealt. hee hee. I loved it. Boys are fun. The one other girl that showed up was singing all the words to a Jackson 5 cd. I kid you not. She knew ALL the words. She was nice enough, but that's just weird. She didn't play beer pong either. As usual, I'm always the boss. I had to pick on one guy because he chose to shake my hand with his left hand. He didn't understand that that's just wrong, lazy, retarded. Just wave hi with your left if you're too lazy to move your right hand. Loser. He had issues with Jewish people and gay people. I think he's both although he looked Indian. *shrug* Again, I planned to go home-didn't make it until 6:30 this morning. I just woke up at 3pm, and Ed's still not here.

Tonight, I'm going to dinner at the restaurant I wanted to go to on my bday. I can't wait. 2 hours and counting. :) HAPPY BDAY TO ME!!!! I need more weekends alone, I think.

Movie stuff from Platinum Girl

I'm really not the best at this because I tend to fall asleep during movies. But..I just got another new DVD player because my free one broke, and I signed up to Netflix recently, so I might be ok on this survey. Here goes nothin'.

1. Total number of films I own on DVD/Video: I have about 6 on VHS. Those are ones that I taped when I had cable in college. One is actually in a cover and that's my friend Lisa's movie, Hoodlum. I'll never return it. I never finished watching it. I just joined Columbia House, so now I probably have 20 DVDs. I don't know how many of them I have watched yet, though. I bought three when I first got my dvd player -Resevoir Dogs, Gia (ugh!), and A Bronx Tale.

2. The last film I bought: The last one I got in the mail was Ray. I haven't watched it yet. I'm giving a copy to my dad for Father's Day.

3. The last film I watched: I just watched 'In the Bedroom' with Sissy Spacek and Marissa Tomei. It was ok. I thought it would be different. I did stay awake too.

4. Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me: I like The Breakfast Club. Hmm..mean a lot to me..That's tough. I don't take movies personally. I like Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, and Basic was surprisingly good. Ice Age was awesome and Shrek really hit home the first time I watched it. Only because I had to stop because Donkey reminded me of my annoying ex-boyfriend. The second time I really liked it.

I guess that's it. Happy Friday all. It's time for Happy Hour! I wish I wore cuter clothes today.

LeAnn Rimes Concert

I never told you guys about the concert. Ed and I got to the theatre at 5:15. The doors opened at 5:30, so we had to wait outside for 15 minutes. That wasn't fun. The first time we were ever really early for anything and we couldn't get in. Oh well. They opened the doors, we got our nametags and then went into the Pavilion area. They had potstickers, california rolls with real crab (we are in MD, people!), roast beef and horseradish cream cheese doohickeys on crunchy toast/bread, marinated artichokes and mushrooms on the same bread/toast stuff, chicken tenders, miniature quiches and spanikopita. All of the food was delicious. I didn't try the chicken tenders because I can have those anytime. My favorite was the california rolls. mmm..mmm. I can never get enough sushi/sashimi. Ed had never had spanikopita so he tried that, and he can't get a taste for the rolls, but he tried them again. He liked the roast beef and the spanikopita the best he said.

They had an open bar, and since we were the first ones in, we had no problems getting drinks. We talked to his bosses, and then it was time for the show. One of his bosses (Tom) was waiting for his friends, but his seats were like 104, 112, 113, 114, 115, and 116, all in Row G, Center Orchestra. Our tickets were 109 and 110 in row G, so we told Tom that we'd sit in 115 and 116 so that he could be a little closer to the person at 104. Deal. We went in, while Tom waited outside for his friends.

Ed and I were not so early getting to our seats. We walked down to Row G, and there was only one seat available it seemed. We walked to the middle and realized old people were there, so we moved back towards the end. Two boyss (~ages 3 and 4) were sitting in our seats, so they moved over and we sat down. We were so close to the stage. Leann's dress wasn't flattering at all and the sound wasn't that good. I don't know if that's how she normally sings, but I couldn't tell what the words were. She seemed kind of garbled. But, it was still cool being that close. There was a row in the right orchestra that had nobody in it. An entire row was empty. I thought that was kind of weird, but whatever. Maybe someone had an emergency. We didn't see any of Ed's coworkers near our seats at all. But, that's ok. We had our seats.

So last night Ed stopped by and he said 'Do you know why we didn't see any of my coworkers at the show?' I said 'no, why?' He then told me that our tickets said Row Q, not Row G. I guess with our fuzzy beer/wine goggles, we didn't pay that much attention and only looked at the numbers. I think it's hilarious that we were so close to the stage, and the people made room for us. I'm just so thankful nobody made us show our stubs in order to figure out who was supposed to be where. Isn't that hilarious! Ed and I had the most expensive seats and even the bosses had to sit behind us. Once I heard that, I think I enjoyed the concert a lot more. BIG CHEESY SMILE

This place reeks!

I got a cold over the weekend. I was mingling at the LeAnn Rimes concert with Ed's bosses and some other randoms in the wine line. After the concert we went to my local bar where they were having karaoke. (Here's an aside)

My local bar is all old people that drink the same thing every time, listen to country music and are diehard Ravens/Orioles fans. Saturday is Karaoke night, so you get regulars there all the time. There might be a few new faces here and there, but it's basically the same. I haven't been there in a long time, so we stopped in. Yup, same faces. Now Ed and I were all dressed up for the concert. I wore my pink and gold dress with my gold stripper Barbie shoes. I got complimented several times (which was surprising), so I guess I can say I looked hot. hee hee. Anyway, I was telling Ed that one man sitting at the bar looked like a nice, friendly, older guy. Well, Ed left to go call his brothers, and guess who asked me to dance to "Redneck Woman"? That nice friendly older guy. Sometimes I think I'm psychic. So, I danced with him, and I am surprised I didn't break my ankles with my heels on, but I didn't. Yippee skippy!

(back to the story). So, after mingling with the people in the wine line, and mingling with Ed's bosses, I made some friends sitting next to me at the bar. Maybe they were sick. Then we went to the test ride the next day and I talked to some people at the Harley shop, so any of them could've gotten me sick. My throat was really tickling when I got home. I'm telling you guys, the key to a happy life is not leaving your house. There are no germs in my house and the only germs are ones I get from others. Blech! The one good thing is that I might be too sick to come in tomorrow. Does anyone know the forecast? 80 and sunny? Definitely a sick day. :) We'll see how I feel in the morning.

Oh..good thing I looked at the title. I almost forgot the point. hee hee. The point is that I can hardly breathe and someone just cooked some popcorn. The smell of popcorn when you can't breathe isn't a good one. If I can breathe, I would like fresh air, not popcorn air. I'll be happy for my ride home.

Buell Demo Ride

Ed and I test rode Buells yesterday. They were offering free messenger bags with every test ride. Unfortunately, the company only had 45 bags total, and two days of test rides. We went on the second day and missed out. I went on the first ride with Ed and 10 other people, but for now, I'll tell you guys what happened after the firt ride. For the first ride, we both had the Firebolt 1200s.

Ed decided he wanted to try the Lightning, since there was space available and it was the last ride of the day. I was starving, so I figured I'd hang out while the next group went out.

Well, about 1/2 hour into the demo ride, one of the Buell reps got a phone call. I was talking to the guy (volunteer) who gave me the 1200 and all of a sudden, he jumped up and went to talk to the guy on the phone. There was an accident on the course. My heart was beating so fast, although I knew it couldn't be Ed. If there's one thing I tell him all the time is that you have to ride your own ride, no matter what others are doing. I may ride like a grandma, but at least I'm a safe grandma.

So the Buell rep got in the truck/trailer to go get the bike, and the volunteer and I waited. We waited and waited and waited. He was saying that he hopes Ed was ok, and wished he had an update for me. He kept going in the store and back out to see me. He asked me what Ed's name was, and I didn't want to tell him. He said the guy's name was Jim, and I breathed a sigh of relief and said 'that's not him.'

The bike came back, and the entire right side was scratched up. They said the guy didn't make one of the turns, hurt his knee or ankle, but he was conscious and seemed with it. Finally, the rest of the group arrived and there was Ed.

He said he was right behind the guy that fell down. He said the people ahead were going pretty fast, and the guy was just trying to keep up with them. All Ed could remember, was seeing the guy ride through the turn, and wasn't leaning, or was focused on something else. As soon as the guy went down, Ed grabbed his jacket, put it under the guy's head, and talked to him to keep him from going into shock. Then, once the others got there, he ran to direct traffic. Ed's so good on traffic duty.

I guess the guy will be ok, but maybe he will learn that it's no fun to try to keep up with others that are riding out of your comfort zone. Those bikes are no joke, and I feel bad for someone who is a beginner and just wants to test ride them because the course was pretty advanced, and they don't tell you that the demo course is not for someone just learning to ride.

I almost backed out when we were lining up because the positioning was strange to me, and I didn't feel comfortable. Luckily, I was third in line and they didn't give me a chance to pull over. I just had to run with it. I'm glad I went and it ended up being fun. I feel bad for Jim, but live and learn.

The other strange thing is that when the group left, the people I was sitting with said 'the guy on the red bike is going to crash.' I'm not sure how they knew that, but they did. That's foreshadowing if I've ever seen it.

Girls, Girls, Girls

I was thinking today that I definitely have more girl blog friends than in real life. I don't really hang out with too many people in real life, boys or girls.

The Motor Maids are my women's moto. group, but I don't hang out with them. They're a bit older than I am and have grandkids, so the only thing I have in common with them is that they ride motorcycles.

My Southern Cruisers group is older men. Same deal as Motor Maids except we have bikes in common.

I go to two moto. websites consistently, and I enjoy talking to the guys more than the girls and there are more guys than girls on the sites, I think.

Emmie is my best girl friend in real life and I only see her once every couple months or so even though we talk all the time.

So, to all my new girl blogger friends, this beer, champagne, glass of wine, tequila, water, is on me today! I think we make great friends because we actually can't see each other or whisper to each other about the others. That's really cool and I guess this is kind of a recipe for great friendships, don't you think?

It sounds like I'm getting sappy, but I'm really not. I just think it's way cool.

Now only if my little boss, another girl, would leave work already!!

More News and Comments

I don't know what it is about Fridays, but I like to be quiet. Maybe because I have flashbacks from when I would go out on Thursday nights and come into work slightly hungover. I'm not sure. Everyone at work is always hyper on Fridays, and it's my day to just relax.

I have one coworker who is always SO loud on Fridays. Every other day of the week, we are good friends, and I enjoy hanging out with her, and she's still a little loud, but for some reason, her voice is always the loudest on Fridays. YB, if you say a word, we will no longer be friends. I'm serious.

Randoms-Take Two

My college friend called me on Wednesday asking about planning the bachelorette party/bridal shower for my other friend that's getting married (remember, I refused to wear pink?). I told her I'd help plan, but I'm not going to attend. hee hee. I don't know how I still have two friends. I told her that I'm not spending three weekends of my life on wedding stuff, when I probably won't see her for a year or so. So..that was my two cents. I don't know what's up with that. My one friend wants to either go see strippers or have one come to the house. Gross. I'm not into that AT ALL. I'd rather eat or drink and be merry and talk to random strangers than see a stripper. Maybe that's what married life does to you. Makes you want to see strippers versus talking to cuties at the bar. The shower will probably be somewhere in NJ, and again, I'm just not going to sit around on a nice weekend day watching someone open gifts. My motto-If it doesn't make me happy, I'm not doing it. And that does not make me happy.

Friday Randoms

I have so much I want to tell you guys, but I know I won't remember it all, so I'll have to be like YoJ and just post a million different tidbits.

1) I went out to dinner last night at Bandaloops. There was no O's game, so parking was fine. I wore those black mules with my same work clothes and as soon as I checked to see if I paid the meter, I stubbed my toe on the crooked sidewalk. So there I am trying to cross the street, and I can hardly walk because it hurt so bad. I stumble into the restaurant and ask for a table in the back. The hostess says 'are you alone?' with this snobby face on, and I said 'yes.' Then she sat me in the back corner. I wanted to be away from the bar (too rowdy for me last night), but she acted like I was some freak of nature. My food was good though. I had a salad, rockfish with crabmeat on top in a garlic wine sauce, and mashed red potatoes. I also had a glass of Australian Shiraz/Cabernet. Don't ask me why I got that because I'm not really a fan of shiraz or cabernet. hee hee. I just ordered it anyway. My toe is still hurting.

2) Ed invited me to go see Leann Rimes at the Hippodrome on Saturday. His coworkers/bosses are supposedly going, so he thought it would be good to hobnob with the higher ups. I don't know anything about Leann Rimes except that she's blonde, used to sing country and still may, and that I think she's married now, and that she's pretty young. I told him I'd go just because he wants to get another week of vacation and it would be fun to see his bosses in a different light, etc..So the tickets cost 50 bucks each. Fine. Last night I talked to him and he told me that the company has paid for our tickets, we are going to a reception with heavy h'ors doevres (sp?) beforehand, and a dessert reception afterwards where we can meet her AND..we have VIP Premier seating. I don't know how this all came about, but I'll take advantage of the heavy h'ors doevres. hee hee. I'm a mess. I am a little excited about this shindig. Ed tried to bust on me and tell me not to wear my corduroys and a sweater. The only day I wore cords was the day I was feeling sick, during Oklahoma. Why does he remember bad stuff?

3) I think I'm going to buy a small investment house in western Tennessee. My grandparents live out there, and my dad is down there for a month or so visiting his family. He has my sisters' dogs and they are all having a grand time. I told my dad that next time Jemma would like to go. He said I have to discuss it with my younger sister. See how they treat me? Their dogs can all go to TN, but when I want mine to go, I have to discuss...whatever. Jemma hates TN. hee hee. Actually, she does like it down there. The house is 4000 dollars. That's a steal. It's nothing big, according to my dad, but a lot of people are moving south and redoing neighborhoods and developments. If I can get this house for cheap now, the property value will only go up. Maybe there are a couple I can buy.

4)When I called my dad at my grandparent's house, Grandpa Freddie said 'so, do you have more money to send us for the library?' and then he laughed. I told him it's only May and we'll see what I can scrounge up. He really appreciated my gift to the library, so that made me happy. He said it is in the 90s down there, and he was sitting on the swing out front, but had to come inside at 9am because it was already too hot. He usually can sit out there until 12. Ahh..the life of a country man. It's so nice. Where's the lemonade/sweet iced tea in the Mason jar. That completes the life.

5) That's it for now. Be back in a bit.

Band Shades

Girls...and YB (ha ha),
I saw these in my Oprah magazine. I think it's so cool.
They are band aids that are made for people of color. Finally.
Now that I'm an adult I don't really get hurt, but these will be nice to keep in my closet.
I'm also getting them for my sisters for Christmas.

I Got a Pedicure

I forgot to tell you guys. I had the second pedicure of my life on Tuesday. I can't really remember the first one, but I know I've had one before.

I was talking to my coworker, and I asked her if I had to wear flip flops when I went to the nail place. She said that's a good idea. I was happy because I remembered that I bought two pairs of cheap flip flops from Payless a couple years ago, and now they would come in handy. Well, I got home, and couldn't find the flip flops for the life of me. I had a blue pair and a clear pair. I remember they hurt in between my toes, so knowing me, I guess I threw them away.

All I had were black mules, so that's what I wore.
I walked into the place and the ladies were talking to me, but I couldn't even understand what they were saying. The one girl motioned me to the back to sit and wait, so I did. Then, when it was my turn she was asking me something about color. I said 'yeah, I want color.' then she said 'Go get it and bring it here.' ugh! So, I had to go find a color that I liked (I just got a plain pink color), and then I got to sit in the chair.

The lady next to me was practically convulsing in the chair because it was some kind of massage/vibrating chair. I didn't use my chair the way it was intended, and just sat there reading my magazine. When the lady used the old skin foot scraper, my foot started tickling. So, I'm sitting there laughing and she's smiling at me, and the other people were just kind of looking over. That only happened on one foot though. She painted my toes and then sent me off to the dryer. You know those foam dividers that they have in the stores? Well, I didn't get one of htose. The lady just put a rough napkin in between my toes. My big toe sits under my second toe a little, so my big toe polish came off on the side. I was going to say something to her, but with the way my toes are, you can't see that the polish is gone anyway.
The pedicure wasn't very exciting, and I don't know how people could stand to sit in that smelly (acetone/acrylic)place every couple weeks, but my feet are soft now, and the pink color looks kind of cute on my toes. I doubt I'll be back. I'm not into it.

Several girls got their eyebrows plucked, but the funny thing is that their eyebrows already looked nice to me. The lady asked if I wanted to get my fingernails or eyebrows done. I declined and then looked at her eyebrows. Talk about furry. hee hee.

Blah Blah

That's how I feel today.
I'm going out to dinner tonight at a restaurant called Bandaloops provided there isn't an Orioles game. If the O's are in town, there will be no parking available and I'll have to wait until next week or Sunday or something. I was just looking at the restaurant website and they say they give complimentary gifts to Hippodrome season ticket holders. Now that is something I wish I had known about. There is only one show left (The Lion King), but I'll be at Bandaloops sipping on a glass of wine beforehand. YAY!!

I hope the food is good. I have heard good reviews about it, but sometimes you really can't trust people when it comes to good food. They just don't know. So, I figure I'll give it a shot.

I'm not sure if Ed will be going to dinner with me because I haven't really talked to him much since Monday. I called him yesterday and he never called me back. grr..so then I called again (I was bored), and he was just sitting home doing the crossword puzzle. So..if he doesn't call me by the time I'm ready to go out tonight, I'm on my own. I kind of hope that happens because tonight I just feel like chilling out-alone.

Super Bra

Amazing how well a bra works. I don't know who invented them, but they are really onto something.

This morning I didn't want to search through my pile of clean clothes to look for a bra so I decided to just wear one of those tank tops with the support bra. It's great! I don't feel all tight around the chest area where my bra normally sits.

I do look like a bum today. I have on my tight, old grey corduroy pants, my work Polo shirt (navy blue), the tank top underneath, and some brown, wool, smart socks (i couldn't find my dress socks either). I went in the bathroom at work and I was checking myself out and I thought 'I look like I'm totally flat!', but I don't care. No one needs to be looking at my tits anyway. I don't think I would like to be one of those people that never wears a bra. Their tits are too saggy. Well, the ladies with big tits that don't wear a bra usually are the queens of sag. If you have small tits, I would never know whether you had on a bra or not because it's not obvious to me and I'm not looking.

Some days, I'll wear a fancier bra and I look like I have big tits, and some days, I just look like the regular B that I am. It's crazy!!

Bad Parents

The guy that sits next to me at work has the worst kids ever. Every day there is a new story about his kid(s) running away, cursing out the teachers, hitting girls or boys, getting into car accidents, etc...

He does whatever the wife says, and the wife totally appeases the kids. They can yell, scream, run, kill and she makes excuses for them. He told us yesterday that he can't take the bad son's car away because he HAS to take the 12 year old to school. I asked about a bus and his response was 'she doesn't like taking the bus.' Well no wonder your kids are so bad. They run the house, and you could care less, and let them do whatever they want. He just complains to all of us about them, and we all just laugh.

So, the son just got reinstated at the school, and it is now 10:15. The kid has gone back to school for a couple hours, and my coworker received a call stating that the kid got kicked out again (15-20 days until school ends). We all joke at work that this coworker's experiences are all the birth control any of us will ever need. It's sad, but he needs to step up and be a dad. If the mom wasn't such a pushover, maybe their kids would be normal. I swear, if I have a kid that is stupid, I'm not going to live very long.

My Secret Boyfriend!

I'm sure you guys have realized that I have a million secret boyfriends. During football, the players and one particular referee are my boyfriends. When I'm listening to music or watching tv, I have secret boyfriends. When I go to see Savion Glover, he's my secret boyfriend. The truth is, I already know they're my boyfriends. It's only a secret to them.

Tonight, my real boyfriend, Ed fixed the headlight on my bike. I was getting nervous because I had an appt. with the mechanic at 6:30, and Ed finished around 7:15. I called the mechanic and Ed talked to him, and they were able to figure it out, so all was good. YAY!! Tomorrow I can ride to work and go riding around town. It's been too long since I last went riding. I was scared to go riding in the afternoons for fear that I'd get caught out when it was dark with no headlight.

So, after project #1 was finished, Ed decided to grill steaks and make broccoli and potatoes for dinner. While I was charging my cell and watching tv, my cell started ringing. Ed yelled that my phone was ringing, and he said it was some random number. I told him not to get it and whatever. I figured it was a wrong number. Well, when Ed left, I checked my messages, and it was my friend who is in Bosnia. He got a transfer to Italy, and his bosses let him come home (to Wisconsin) for a week or two. I couldn't believe I missed the call. I'm not really good about answering strange numbers, so it's realistic that I did miss the call, but it made me sad. Anyway, he left a number, and I just called him and got to chat for a little bit. He's doing great, but I wish he was closer. I am thinking about taking a trip to Italy sometime to go see him and do some sightseeing. That would be awesome. I just hope I can fit it into my vacation time or take an unpaid vacation or something. *sigh* It's so hard having secret boyfriends everywhere. There's just not enough time in a day.

Race for the Cure

Hello everyone!!
I'm still a little busy at work trying to pretend I'm busy, but I do have time to update you on my weekend (especially after YB called me out). Yesterday I ran 3.1 miles for the Race for the Cure in Philadelphia. My older sister has been running it for a couple years, so I decided to run last year. It wasn't as bad as I thought, so I figured I'd do it again. The race is free for me, so why not? hee hee. Her company, Astrazeneca, is a big sponsor, so they have a tent set up and I guess they try to get as many runners as they can. Anyway, on St. Patty's day, I told my coworkers that I was running and that they were more than welcome to come along if they wanted to. I really didn't think anyone would, but I had one person accept, and that was my coworker that I think likes me. We have been hanging out a lot lately, but I really don't think it's a big deal. I used to go to lunch with him and another guy, but the other guy left. Maybe I feel a little bad for my coworker because his best lunch buddy left the company, but I don't mind going to the park for lunch. It's nice to get out of this place for an hour.
Anyway, back to the race..hee hee. My sister did the run in 24 or 25 minutes I think, which is REALLY good. Her boyfriend came in at 22 minutes, my friend and old coworker Matt got 28 minutes, and my current coworker and I came in at 32:10. I told him he could run off and leave me, but he didn't mind hanging with me. We started behind the starting line, but I'm not sure timewise how far behind it we were, so there's really no way to find out your time.
After the race, we went to my grandmother's house. My grandmother lives in a poor, run down town, but every year they have a Mother's Day parade. My mom, my sister, her bf, my coworker and I headed down to watch the parade. I wonder how they felt because my coworker and my sister's bf were the only white people around. I think I saw one other white lady, but she's from around there. I could tell by the way she talked and her hairstyle. I guess they were ok because they didn't look scared or anything. They just hung out and walked up and down the street with us and met some of my cousins and family friends. After the parade, we ate dinner and went home. My mom forced me to make my coworker a plate because there was too much food. I dropped off my coworker, and got home 6 minutes before The Contender (still an awesome show!).
All in all it was a fun day. We didn't smooch or anything. YB is just jealous that my coworker got to spend the day with me. Next year he says he's racing, so it will be even more fun. C'mon YB!!!

If I were a painter, I'd have a blank canvas with one line only on every painting. The lines would be different colors and thicknesses and places, but that's all I would do, and sell them for millions! I only want one picture to be in the Louvre.

If I were an actor, I'd demand to only work with the highest paid actresses and actors to boost their egos. I know I wouldn't be good at it, but the fancy pants actors would want to work with me because I'm quirky and fun off camera.

If I were a video game designer, Frogger, Ms. Pac Man and Donkey Kong would be updated every month.

Savion Glover is SO my boyfriend

Oh My God.

Last night's show was outstanding!!! I thought we were going to be a little late because Ed forgot his Rolaids. Luckily, we're only 15 minutes from the theater, so we made it there in time. I wore a pair of my new high heels and Ed wore his suit. I love my new shoes, and my entire outfit. I think I looked pretty cute.

The lights dimmed, and the jazz band started playing music. Then, Savion appeared like an angel. hee hee. I'm not the most descriptive, but he looked awesome. He has gotten a little thinner since the last time I saw him, but nevermind that. He was wearing a hot pink button down shirt, which was open, a white wifebeater underneath and black pants. He tapped his heart out. It was like a dream. If you closed your eyes and just listened to the band and his feet, it was like you were in a different world. There are so many noises you can make with your feet it's incredible. He tapped light and heavy, quiet and loud, slow and fast. [During the performance, the hot pink shirt started getting sweaty and it turned a dark pink. He was tapping and tapping and the shirt was getting darker and darker. I whispered to Ed that the first half wasn't going to end until his shirt was completely drenched. I think I was right.] I really can't describe the show and make it sound worth seeing, but if you EVER have the chance, you HAVE to go see him. The tickets ranged from 22-47 dollars, so it wasn't expensive at all to see a great show. A little bit of culture never hurt anyone. :)

One funny part is that when the lights dimmed there were tons of open seats. Black people are known for being late for everything, and I figured it would happen here also. The people may be dressed to the nines, but they surely can't get anywhere on time. The show started at 8 (maybe 8:05), and this couple came in about 8:30. I don't wear a watch, so I really don't know what time they got there, but they missed a couple segments. As the people are walking to their 2nd row seats, Savion was on the side of the stage getting ready to start the next segment. He said something to the couple as they were moving down the row. I hope he said 'nice of you to show up, a$$holes.' hee hee. I would've laughed if I heard that. I'm glad he said something. Some people are so rude, especially during a show. If you can't get there on time, sit in the back until intermission. It's too bad you paid a lot of money for tickets. Perhaps you should buy a watch.

Savion tapped for one hour and then there was a 20 minute intermission and then he tapped for another 45 minutes. No wonder he's so skinny. For the second half, he had three teenagers (maybe early 20s) tapping with him in addition to the jazz band. The kids were great! I wonder how those kids became interested in tap dancing. It seems that tap dancing is kind of a lost art, so for these kids to be so good at what they do, I'm thinking they must go to a special school or something.

Allright, this is long enough. Go see my boyfriend. I think he's playing in Boston next and then he's going to some other cities. His website is www.savionglover.com, so check it out.

I need a bigger desk!

My desk at work sucks. It's a nice mahogany color, but I have no drawer space. My left drawer is filled with my junk and it's actually stuff that I need. I have a book in there, the employee manual, some loose papers, one hoagie roll for the next time I make a sandwich. Oh, I just realized I have a full ream of paper because my coworkers are lazy and never replace the paper. If ever the time comes when I need to print something I will have my own stash of paper to use. That's what's really taking up all my space. Let's see..what else is in there?
Oh, some paper cups, a bunch of looks for less that I would like to try one day, and a bowl for my cereal (of course, I don't have any milk), and a CD. I guess if I took out the paper I would have enough room for my snacks.

On the right hand side, I have all work stuff. It's really not important but I know as soon as I throw it out someone will ask for it.

I went to the store at lunchtime and now I have three snacks and no room for them. I bought lemon fitness water, lemon creme cookies and nature valley granola bars. Yum!! I hardly ever buy snacks, so this is going to be fun. As long as I don't open the packages I'll be fine. As soon as I open them, they'll be gone within the day. I love snacks!!!! hee hee.

YB Likes to Argue

No matter what I say, YB always has to be so contradictory. I say red, and he says blue. I say twinkies and he says ho hos. Half the time I know he's joking, but the other half I'm not really sure. (I'm just making you look bad, YB) :)

YB and I usually have morning discussions. Today we were talking about adoption. I really would like to adopt a child. I think I have mentioned this before, but I can't recall and I'm not doing a search on my blog. My brother is adopted, and we had tons of foster kids in and out of our house when I was growing up. I always thought that when I was old enough to adopt a kid, I would. I'm now old enough, but I'm still pretty selfish. I think that I would like to adopt a child from the US, but I hear it's pretty hard and it takes a long time, so if I have to go to another country to find a child, so be it.

Why do I want to adopt a kid? I think there are so many unfortunate kids in the country (world) that just want and need loving parents. If I can help one, then I have done my job. I know it will not be easy, but I am ready for the challenge. I think I can do it, and that kid would be appreciative, and grow up knowing that he or she has loving parents and safe place to live and grow up and turn their lives around. I think it's worth a shot.

I would also like to have one or two kids of my own too. I don't necessarily want to pass on all of my genes, but maybe they will have all the good ones, and the bad ones will be stuck with me. I will flip out if I have a baby, and it's arms don't straighten, or it has crusty, pinky toenails. I'll be really upset then! HA!!HA!! I guess it's just a chance you take. I'll know that my kid can't be a toe model or a gymnast, but that if anything, they definitely come from me and that they are responsible for passing the genes down the line. That's ok.

Allright, that's my pro-adoption/kids speech for the morning. Now it's back to the regular grind. In reality, I think I just want to be a stay at home mom and I can't do that if I don't have kids. If anyone knows of a rich, single, available man that has great genes, tell him about my blog, please.

O is for Oprah

The other day I picked up an Oprah magazine. I haven't read a girlie magazine in who knows how long, so I just decided to buy Oprah's. I have to support the sista. hee hee. Last night as Ed was flipping through tv channels I was reading an article(s) about 10 different women who decided to change one thing in their lives and see how it affected them. One lady was really negative, one was high anxiety, one was a big know it all, one was impulsive, etc..etc.. So then I got to thinking about myself and if I had Oprah pay for counseling what would I try to change. Obviously, I couldn't find anything to change (HA! It's my mother's fault for making me think I'm 100% perfect).

So then I asked Ed 'I have a good personality, right?' and he shook his hand and said 'eh' (as if it was so so). I said 'Thanks a lot, Ed. I have a really low self-esteem and when you answer a question like that it's not helping. The next time I'm drunk and crying it's because of your answer right now!' and I started laughing. He said 'I bet your self esteem would skyrocket if you put down that Oprah magazine.' He could say anything and I would go on thinking whatever I want to think. I guess that's good and bad.

I think those magazines can be good because sometimes there are stories that you can relate to, and try to get help if you need to, but other times, you see the models, and the people with the fancy perfect lives (Oprah herself), and you can start feeling down about your own life. I don't know why I picked it up. I guess I just wanted to read something new and see what people are talking about. The best part of the magazine, is that there are a lot of book reviews. Felicity Huffman does one, and many of the other authors mention books and their plots. So, I will be going to the library or bookstore in the near future. So much for changing my personality. Humph!

The Little Boss Got Engaged

The littl boss told us in December that her mom knew she was going to get engaged.
She got engaged sometime this past weekend.
Her ring is 3.4 carats. It's huge! She has a princess cut stone on top, and then she has like two bands filled with diamonds surrounding it, and the part with the princess cut stone has diamonds on it too. There is no room for her wedding band. Her ring fills up that entire section in between her knuckles. It's way too much for me, but she's the kind of girl that likes to be over the top (in all ways).

She told her boyfriend jokingly that she wanted 3 or 3.5 carats, and he came through. She said she was definitely surprised.

I think she's going to NY on either Thursday or Friday to get it sized, and I hope she goes Thursday and takes a long weekend so I can have Friday off. Yippee!!! I'm always happy for the wrong reasons. :)
