Race for the Cure
Hello everyone!!
I'm still a little busy at work trying to pretend I'm busy, but I do have time to update you on my weekend (especially after YB called me out). Yesterday I ran 3.1 miles for the Race for the Cure in Philadelphia. My older sister has been running it for a couple years, so I decided to run last year. It wasn't as bad as I thought, so I figured I'd do it again. The race is free for me, so why not? hee hee. Her company, Astrazeneca, is a big sponsor, so they have a tent set up and I guess they try to get as many runners as they can. Anyway, on St. Patty's day, I told my coworkers that I was running and that they were more than welcome to come along if they wanted to. I really didn't think anyone would, but I had one person accept, and that was my coworker that I think likes me. We have been hanging out a lot lately, but I really don't think it's a big deal. I used to go to lunch with him and another guy, but the other guy left. Maybe I feel a little bad for my coworker because his best lunch buddy left the company, but I don't mind going to the park for lunch. It's nice to get out of this place for an hour.
Anyway, back to the race..hee hee. My sister did the run in 24 or 25 minutes I think, which is REALLY good. Her boyfriend came in at 22 minutes, my friend and old coworker Matt got 28 minutes, and my current coworker and I came in at 32:10. I told him he could run off and leave me, but he didn't mind hanging with me. We started behind the starting line, but I'm not sure timewise how far behind it we were, so there's really no way to find out your time.
After the race, we went to my grandmother's house. My grandmother lives in a poor, run down town, but every year they have a Mother's Day parade. My mom, my sister, her bf, my coworker and I headed down to watch the parade. I wonder how they felt because my coworker and my sister's bf were the only white people around. I think I saw one other white lady, but she's from around there. I could tell by the way she talked and her hairstyle. I guess they were ok because they didn't look scared or anything. They just hung out and walked up and down the street with us and met some of my cousins and family friends. After the parade, we ate dinner and went home. My mom forced me to make my coworker a plate because there was too much food. I dropped off my coworker, and got home 6 minutes before The Contender (still an awesome show!).
All in all it was a fun day. We didn't smooch or anything. YB is just jealous that my coworker got to spend the day with me. Next year he says he's racing, so it will be even more fun. C'mon YB!!!
