Finally-Computer Time
I don't really have all good news, but some good news and some better news, I suppose.
I don't remember if I told you that the unemployment guy totally screwed me over, and called me for a hearing the day I had my interview. He wanted me to leave my interview to have a conference call regarding my unemployment benefits. I told him that they could certainly call, but if I didn't answer, I wasn't available. (Is he smoking crack?!) Of course they called, and told me that since I didn't respond, my benefits would be denied. I have all the time in the world, so I wrote an appeal saying that they shouldn't penalize me for actually trying to find work. I have a hearing (a live, in court hearing) set for July 27 at 1:45pm. Scary mama.
In other news, I got a call on Friday from the company that I had an interview with at the end of June. She wants me to meet with the HR person this afternoon. Yes, I will be taking a shower and getting ready in the near future. hee hee. So...if I get offered the position this afternoon, I'm calling and cancelling that hearing. I bet as soon as I cancel the hearing, and they find out that I have a new job, back unemployment checks will come rolling in. The gov't sucks. I'll tell them that I'd rather smell a dirty dish rag than go to their hearing or take their money. HA!!HA!!
The convention in Kingston was great. There were 220 Motor Maids in attendance, and that means 220 women RODE from all over the country to participate in the convention. It rained quite a bit, but that never spoiled anyone's fun. Kingston is pretty expensive. For a family bucket of KFC chicken, it costs 43.00. The dollar is about even with the Canadian loonie (that's a dollar), so that price is flat out ridiculous. Also, the cost of a large combo meal at Tim Horton's was 10.99. What a jip. A lot of people take the ferry from Cape Vincent, NY to Kingston, so I guess it's pretty touristy. I got to see many of the Motor Maids that I only see once a year, and they are all looking as gorgeous as ever. We voted to change our uniform. I'll post pictures soon.
More regarding Crazy Erin. Her husband did not show up for the counseling session that she scheduled. Her mom came down early to hang out with Erin, and they found the husband on his bed passed out/high from using drugs. They immediately took him to a drug testing center, where he tested positive for Xanaz, Cocaine and Meth. She packed him a bag, and he was out on a park bench somewhere. She changed the locks on the house, and is now packing up all his stuff. She's gotten a divorce lawyer, and is going to get sole custody of the baby once she's born. Her baby is due any second-seriously. He called her the night before he was passed out on the bed and suggested putting the baby up for adoption. Erin said no way. He stole all the money out of their joint account (I wish I had suggested taking the money out when she was staying here), and he has needles and spoons all over his hang out room at her house. Apparently he has been in drug treatment before, but no one told Erin. Not his family members nor him. Now that is a relationship based on lies. I feel so sad for her, but she's not called Crazy Erin for nothin'. She gets in these situations and there's no telling what's going to happen. For now, I'm glad I'm around to help her when the baby comes and all that good stuff. She needs support big time.
