Phone Manners 101

When you call me and I answer the phone 'Hello,' do not say 'Hi' and stop talking. You say 'Hi. This is ________' so I know who I'm talking to. Otherwise I'll hang up on you. I don't know your voice from anyone else's and if you notice, I always address myself when I call you whether you know it's me or not.

I get very annoyed with people who do not have good phone manners. It's not difficult to ask to take a message if someone is not around and then GIVE them the message. It's also rude to be preoccupied with something else when you're talking to me. If you're busy, say you're busy and call me back. It's not a difficult concept.
