Public Solicitation-Don't be Scared

I'm so bad about asking for donations for various causes that I support. Because I'm such a miser and so shy about asking, I always say to myself 'it will be easier if I just contribute the 250 dollars for a prize than having to go through the effort of asking people for donations.' That's how I do things. But today, I decided that I will make a public solicitation to match anyone's contribution for one of the causes I'm going to support this year (I'm already putting in a designated amount to each, but if I get enough money beyond my predetermined amount, I'll just add to it). Here are the causes I am supporting:

MD SPCA -Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
They have a march for the animals coming up on April 3, and tehe birddog and I will be attending. Jemma loves this event because she gets to hang out with other dogs and look like a priss. That's what she and I do best. I adopted her up from the SPCA, so not only am I giving back, Jemma is too. She loves getting a new bandanna every year, and this year's is red, so it will look gorgeous on her fur. There are various prizes to be had, but maybe this year I can win one.

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation-I will be running in the Race for the Cure on Mother's Day with my sister and maybe some old coworkers, but I'm not collecting money for that. I'm just running. I will be doing a Ride Across Maryland and accepting donations for that. There is a ride held on the first weekend in June and the bikers get together and ride from 5 different starting points to the beach for a weekend. The past few years, they've gone to the mountains and it rained, so I guess they figure if we head east instead of west Mother Nature will cooperate. Again, they have prizes. The grand prize is to rent bikes and ride the Old Rt. 66. Everything's paid for (even bike rental), and that would be fantastic if I won. For your donation, I might even invite you to come along. Woohoo.

St. Luke's Baptist Church Library Fund- This is the family church on my dad's side. I think there was a fire and they had to rebuild the church. So far the church is WAY bigger than it used to be, and they could really use the money. My dad told me that whoever is in charge of the regular fund is misusing the money, but my Grandpa is responsible for the library fund. I called him and told him I was going to donate money and he said the computer just broke so they could use it. Plus, they have to buy lots of books and books aren't cheap. I'm excited to help them, and my Grandpa will be so proud. I can't wait to send that check. C'mon taxes.

Last but not least, I think I will be giving money to the Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame. This isn't a given, so there's no reason for you to contribute. If you're interested, I will do some research and send some information to you.

Anyone that's interested in making a tax deductible contribution, you can email me at tasha n jemma @ gmail dot com and I'll let you know where to send the check. I separated all the words so that the spammers don't get me. All of the words go together. Thanks you guys!!

I love this about you. I have my own little places I give, so I am passing on the offer. But I really love that you're being public, and asking others to pitch in. And that your Grandpa is glad because the computer broke. :)

Thanks Beergirl, it's ok. I just sent off a check to my grandfather today because my taxes came in. I can't wait to talk to him.

YB, I don't want your stinky oatmeal or your stinky money. Besides, I shared one more detail with you at lunch-the bar where it all began. :)

BTW, enjoy the oatmeal. It's not stinky and my money smells sweet too! Think about it. ;)
