RIP Miss Ruby

I have sad news. Ed's dog, Ruby the Shih Tzu, was put to sleep on Friday afternoon sometime while we were away. His dad and his old roommate were alternating days that they would take the dogs out, and his dad let Ruby outside in the backyard. Ruby is in inside dog because she's a priss and hates walking on the grass, and walking period for that matter. Ed always carries her everywhere. Anyway, the dad let out the dogs, and Ruby snuck through the fence and ran away.

His roommate and his dad called me over the weekend, but there was no cell phone service and my phone ended up dying early Sunday morning anyway, so we didn't get the message until we got home.

Last night Ed walked around his neighborhood looking for her, and no one had seen her. This morning on his way to work he stopped at the SPCA (which is right around the corner), and they said that someone had brought her in, but she was crying a lot and in some sort of pain. She also had a huge, red right eye because of an infection she had gotten. I asked Ed about taking her to the vet for her eye the other day, but he said it was too expensive. We don't know if she got hit, but she was not a loud dog at all, so to hear her crying was probably painful. Because she was in bad shape, the vet recommended that they put her down.

I'll see if I have a picture of her tomorrow and maybe I'll post it. I cried a little when I thought about her, but she's 10 years old or so, so hopefully she has a better life on the other side. We'll miss you girl.
