Camping with the Bird
Last night Ed was on the computer, and I was bored. I decided to get my tent out of the closet and set it up in the backyard. My bird-dog has never been camping, so I thought we would try it last night. They were forecasting afternoon showers, and we didn't have any so I thought sure we'd get rained on.
I set up the tent, put the rainfly on, but rolled most of it up because it gets really hot inside the tent if you have the rainfly on completely. Once that was done, I had Ed come out and check it because there were a couple random hooks and I didn't know what was supposed to connect to them, if anything. He spent about 1/2 hour restaking the tent, and zipping and opening and fixing stuff. He is Mr. Perfectionist sometime, so I went back inside while he figured what everything was for. I got my sleeping bag, headlamp (I know, funny, huh?), glasses, and pillow together so that when I was ready for bed, I could just walk to the tent. I ended up just putting the rainfly in the garage. If it poured, we'd just go inside. It's not a big deal.
Around 11p, Jemma and I were ready to camp. My neighbor has this big spotlight in his backyard, and of course, he had it on last night. I could've moved my tent out of the light, but then I'd have to pull the stakes, and I was tired and lazy, so I just left it. The other bad thing about the light is that you can see all the bugs walking around on the outside of the tent. Jemma was having a field day trying to eat them from the inside. Some bugs were noisy too. I didn't like that part. I told her to lay down a couple times, but I think she was too excited watching the bugs. I don't know how long she chased them because I fell asleep.
This morning when we woke up, I think she wanted to stay in the tent. I had to push her out. hee hee. Anyway, we had fun, and my tent is still set up in the yard. Maybe we'll camp again tonight. Oh..it didn't rain. YAY!!
