BS Friday
Today in training we had a lab session. It was pretty cool. We got to do some experiments with a Bier vessel (Beergirl I was thinking of you. C'mon Beer thirty). Anyway, my group finished the sampling early. We weren't messing around. During our down time we would label test tubes, or do some other stuff (too complicated to write down). Once we finished with our samples, we went back to the classroom to get our notebooks and certificates.
The teacher then stated that there was additional lecture. It's getting late, it's pouring down raining and people have to drive home. Mind you, I live right down the street, but I'm worried about my lab partners who live in Philly, NJ, etc..(wink wink). I told the teacher that I would like to get my certificate so I can go home.
He said 'you don't want to stay?' I said 'No. I learned everything there is to know on this subject, and I have the notes from yesterday and this morning.' He looked at me with a sad face, and I just stood there. The little boss was standing right next to me. Then he said 'Ok. Hold on.' The little boss smiled and was happy I was negotiating. :)
He gave us our certificates, and the Jersey girl said she wanted hers too. Then the little boss, the NJ girl, and I walked out towards our car. The Jersey girl said 'I feel bad. Do you?' I said 'No. If I felt bad, I would still be sitting in there. Why should I feel bad? I learned what I needed to learn and the objectives of the training were met as far as I'm concerned.' She said 'Oh.'
The moral of the story is, in order to be a good negotiator, stop talking. Whoever speaks first after the options have been put on the table LOSES. The end.
