Wedding Recap
My friend's wedding was nice. She was happy, the husband was happy and things went well for the most part. Ed and I had a safe ride up the NJ turnpike, and there were no accidents or police, so there were no rubberneckers, so it was smooth sailing the entire way north.
We met up with my friends for the rehearsal. It started late, but it went smoothly. Have you heard of a tradition where the bride can't walk down the aisle during the rehearsal? They were saying it's bad luck. So..Dr. Heather had a stand in. After the rehearsal we wrote our Bennigan's order on a piece of paper and someone was supposed to call the restaurant and order our food in advance. That didn't happen, so we sat at an understaffed Bennigans for hours on end and finally our food arrived at say 9:30pm. I did have a yummy peach dacquiri though. I was riding, so I only had one. :) After dinner, we went back to the hotel (1/2 hour away), and slept.
The next morning, we met at the church to prepare for the big day. I went with Kathy and Heather, and the other two bridesmaids didn't show up until 1.5 hours later. I get so frustrated with people being late, but it wasn't my wedding, so I had to keep my complaints on the inside. We finally got dressed and ready and the ceremony began. It was fairly short and sweet. Once everyone left the church, the limosines (sp?) arrived. One of the drivers was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. No lie. The limos were both dirty and the drivers wanted 300 dollars in cash before he took us anywhere. Dr. Heather and her husband argued on the phone for about an hour, getting people's names and this and that. Ed got mad because I kept trying to listen in on the conversation and he just said that I wasn't helping and to sit next to him. hee hee. After a while I did, because everyone else was crowding around the bride and groom. They finally worked things out and then we were on our way to the arboretum for pictures. The driver had no idea how to get there. He was smoking in the limo and it had stains and holes in the carpet. It was also overheating so he had to ride with the hood slightly open. Once we got our pictures taken, he didn't know how to get to the reception. Luckily one of the bridesmaids was from the area.
The reception was pretty cool. It was in a huge building that was capable of holding 8 different receptions or parties at a time, so there were tons of people milling around. The food was good and we had a fun time. After the reception we went back to the hotel. I didn't get a picture of me, my bike and my dress because I was tired, a little tipsy and I parked far away. Maybe I can take a picture at home once the newleyweds return with my dress. It won't be exactly the same, but it'll still be a neat picture.
