Shamrock 5k Run

May 09-2005, this is what I wrote: "my current coworker and I came in at 32:10."
That was my time at the Race for the Cure in Philadelphia, almost one year ago.

Today, I came in at 30:34. Can you believe it?!!! I can't. I ran the race by myself, and I forced myself to continue running the entire time. I wasn't at the back, and I wasn't at the front, but I'm really happy with my time. There is a turnaround point, where you can see the leaders. There were about 5 guys in the front, and they were still running really fast. Then a girl came along, and the losers on my side were cheering them on. That was really cool.

At the end of the race, they had yogurt, pretzels, bananas and free Miller Lite for everyone. I had one of everything and one of those nutrition bars. It was a lot of fun, and I hope to participate again next year. Now..I have to get ready for the Race for the Cure, and see if I can break the 30 minute mark. That's my goal. So...I have 34 seconds to make up. They didn't have the mile markers or timers to see how I was doing. I think that didn't help. If I knew where I was in the race, and how fast/slow I was going, it would have made me improve. I was definitely dragging around the 2 mile mark (maybe. Obviously, I had no idea where I was in the race). A lot of people were passing me at that point. Then I saw a lady that I wanted to beat, but she kicked it up at the end and came in ahead of me. I had a second choice person, and I did beat her, but that wasn't the goal.

I saw one of my coworkers at the race, and his two friends, but I didn't talk to them. I'll see him tomorrow. I don't like his two friends, so no sense going over there pretending I do. Especially when I was sweaty and nasty. Hope your Sunday was just as fun.

Yay for 30:34!! That's awesome! You'd leave me in the dust! Congrats!
I don't pretend I like people when I really don't - I wouldn't have gone to talk to them either.
