Small Things-Big Difference

Last year when I went to Sturgis, a guy from work asked me to get him a hat. I guess it would've been nice for me to pick up some other souvenirs, but I didn't, and you don't have that much room on a bike to be bringing all sorts of stuff back for people.

Anyway, I ended up getting a hat that has the word Sturgis across the back velcro flap, and the front has a stamp-like picture on the front that says Sturgis Motorcycle Rally or something like that. The stamp emblem has rippled edges and just looks really cool. The hat is black, orange and cream. My coworker was so happy to get it. I didn't realize it at the time, but he's an Orioles fan, and the Orioles are black and orange, so he can wear this hat all the time. It's a win-win. Also, you wouldn't know it's a motorcycle hat unless you looked closely because it is a bit understated. That's totally my style.

So, this coworker lives near me. I don't see him often, but I saw him the other day, and he was wearing his Sturgis hat. I didn't honk or wave, but I had a smile on my face. He wears it into work and then he changes to his work hat (he's in the warehouse, so they are allowed to wear hats back there). Sometimes he forgets to put on his work hat because the Sturgis hat fits him so well.

I was talking to him about it yesterday and I told him that I was so happy when I saw him wearing it, and he said 'People ask me all the time if I went to Sturgis, and I tell them that a coworker picked it up for me.' I secretly think his friends are jealous (ha ha).

The point of this post is to say that sometimes it's the stupidest, smallest things that make a big difference. I'm happy when I see him wearing the hat that I brought back for him, and he's probably happy that someone gave him a super cool hat. Think of something to be happy about today.
