My Tone Strikes Again

I used to always get in trouble at work because of the way I talked and emailed people. Every year, my evaluation said 'watch your tone' and every year I said I would. I decided to stop talking to those I couldn't stand and my life has been so much better. Today, I blew my lid.

Everything at work is a rush, and today, unlike any other, there was a rush for me and my coworker to do one of our studies. Well, we rushed back there, and the machine wasn't working properly. The supervisor (or whatever he is, butt-kisser extraordinaire) said that he would help fix the machine. He didn't know how to fix the machine, and had the nerve to ask my why I was mad when I said something to him. I told him, in an angry voice, that I was mad because everyone tries to rush everything, and everyone knew the machine wasn't working except for me and my coworker, yet we still had to do our study today. He said not to raise my voice at him. I told him that he asked me why I was mad, and I told him. If he would fix the machine, I wouldn't be mad anymore, and my voice would be quiet. Then he said that I was acting very unacceptable. I said 'I don't care. I want to finish what I'm doing and leave the area. If you want to tell my boss that I'm acting very unacceptable, so be it.' Then he said that I had to stand a certain way. I said 'Don't tell me what to do!', and he said 'This is my area and if you don't like it you can get out.' So I left. All my equipment was still in his area.

A few minutes later my coworker told me that he apologized to her for wasting her time because he couldn't get the machine working. I saw him in the hallway right after she told me that and I said "You apologized to her, you need to apologize to me." He ignored me. I know he ran to tell his boss what I said to him. I told my big boss what happened because I know she'll hear about it.

YB and I were laughing because I used to yell at people all the time, and I had been SO good. Oh well. My performance evaluation was supposed to be today, but it got pushed back until Friday. If I have another mark saying I need to watch my tone, I know I'm doing something right. ;)
