Old-Fashioned Christmas
Since I'm single enough not to invite anyone home for Christmas this year, my older sister is single, my brother is single, and my married sister's husband goes to CT for Christmas, we had an old-fashioned Christmas at my house. What does that mean? LOBSTER TAILS!! Mom-mom doesn't like seafood so there's always an extra. Ever since I became allergic to shrimp in 2000, I hadn't tried lobster until last night. I'm not allergic. I was so happy that I didn't get hives. yay!!
We played the game "Would You Rather?" It was really cool. My family (minus my brother) loves games so we always play one at either Thanksgiving, Christmas or both. My older sister got the game as a present, so it worked out considering my space cadet younger sister forgot to bring Taboo. One question I had was 'Would you rather eat a gallon of apple stems or 12 banana peels?' I noticed that any time quantities were mentioned, my family always chose the smaller amount. So, yes, I chose the banana peels. This game is good and bad to play with family members. A lot of times you have to guess what the person will answer, and since we know each other, it was easy to choose their answer. It would be hard to play with others, but it would probably make it more exciting. My younger sister had a challenge where she had to choose to do one of six different things. Of course she chose to dance around the room, humming a song for 60 seconds. If you knew my sister (and the rest of us), that was an easy win. My dad noticed her humming and dancing and looked up for a second, and looked back at his crossword. A normal day at the parent's house.
The best gift I got was a crock pot. After 5 years of asking for one, I finally got one. Now I don't know what to make, but I'll figure something out. I made soup on the stove today, and it is yummy. It's cheesy, potato soup and I added sour cream and green chiles. I'm excited for my lunch tomorrow.
That's my Christmas story for 2006. It was great spending time with the fam. Mom-mom was pretty mellow, so no funny stories from her this time around. My younger sister did wear Mom-mom's wig on top of her dreadlocks. It looked like a combination of a beehive with dreads coming out of the bottom. Strange, but funny.
